Can anyone till me how to install Amber skin in Kodi 18.1 Android phone. The skin is not available via the normal interface skins that come with Kodi. Previous version it was there. I love the skin because it brings the movie rating from multiple rating entities

How to remove or hide bar when playing video

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for the developement of this software, and for all the people who are giving life to this community.
I use Kodi in a specific way so my question may seem awkward, I use it in my company.
When you play video endlessly, at every startup of the video. It shows at the top of the screen the name of the video and at the bottom the time bar for video duration. This is shown for about 2s and disappear, this behavior was not present with the older version kodi 17.6, so I would like to know if it's possible to hide it, or should I need to go back to 17.6 ? Can someone point me out where to look for this modification?
I'm using Kodi on Raspbian Stretch. To start video endlessly, I also use the script autoexec.py

PVR Recording Sorting
It is not clear to me what the difference between the name and file sort orders for PVR Recordings are based on, since these are both derived field not provide by the client. Can someone explain these please.
Also without duplicating season and episode in the episode name are these included in the sort logic for name or file?

playstore like addon install
This has probably been discussed before, but how about instead of this convoluted way of installing addons have something similar to what google and apple have to install apps on the phones. Have an official store with approved addons. That way you know the addon is going to work and easy to install with one click. Maybe then NETFLIX HULU, AMAZON PRIME etc might make proper addons for Kodi that would be great. ![Smile]( "Smile")

Linux - Feeding individual Dolby (AC3)/DTS channels to separate outputs?
Hi! Running Kodi/OSMC on a Vero4k and my question is: I understand that Linux can decode AC3/DTS in software, but how can I route the individual channels, say L/R Surround to a certain output?
Background: I have an (CM6206-based) USB soundcard that can do 5.1 or 7.1. It has analogue outputs and one S/PDIF output. The chip allows me to route individual channel pairs to the S/PDIF, but when doing so it mutes front L/R.
What I would like to do is to have front L/R and center+Sub output on the analogue outputs and L/R Surround on S/PDIF. If needed from a different card.
Any ideas?

Mac MediaServer > Linux MediaServer
I am back to say thank you once again.
And once again Kodi has pushed me to move in new directions, I never imagined.

My Mac Mini (late 2009) was getting to slow to use as my media server.
I was running dosdude’s High Sierra for older macs, it was slow but it worked.
I ran Emby Server and HDHR Record (DVR) server and Airplay/iTunes on the mini.
I even installed a new SSD. The mac worked, but was way too slow.
SMB/Samba was very slow.
So I needed a new Media Server that fit my Kool-aid budget.
I asked for some advice and ideas here.
1. Raspberry pi media server? (Was hoping for an upgrade over the mac)
2. wipe the macOS and install Lubuntu? (Want to keep a MacOS system for now.)
3. NUC media server? (Maybe?)
New Server on the cheap. All the research got me thinking. I had an old ASUS laptop that was unusable do to a dodgy power port (overheating).
My Solution: permanently attach the power supply to the laptop. Defeats the portability but works great just sitting on a shelf. I added a new SSD installed Kubuntu (because I like it and use it on my thinkpad) Tested it for few days and it was working well and no over heating!
My wife always wonders why I keep old broken or unused computer parts/junk, this is why!
Now that I had a computer, The next issue was getting my media (19TB) moved from HFS+ drives to EXT4 drives. So I had to learn that adding new external drives to a Linux system is way different than it is on a Mac. Formatting, assigning mount points and assigning permissions was a brain frying experience. It is actually simple and easy once you understand the process. Until then my brain was turned to a jello like substance for a few days.
The next step was networking - After more research and advice I went with NFS. This too was a challenge, but was well worth it. I am amazed how fast my file sharing is now. Not sure how much that is due to the Mac, SMB or both.
Media transfer – So after learning more about assigning permissions for clients, I mounted my new Linux drives via NFS on the mac. Then I used Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer the media. This was a very slow process but worked very well.
I now have a Kubuntu based Kodi Media Server running Emby Server and HDHR Record.
I could not be happier. It is fast and very stable. It took about 6 weeks to accomplish but was well worth it.
This would not have been possible without the Wiki, the help and advice I got here, as well as the Kubuntu forum and the Emby forum.
To anyone considering a similar move I am happy to help in any way I can.

v17 - [No Atmos] - Kodi 17.6 - HTPC / Windows 10.

v18 - Scaling video - Is dxvaallowhqscaling still needed to get the best scaling?
In Settings/Player/Processing it mentions "Enable HQ Scalers for scaling above" with a percentage you can modify. Are these "high quality scalers" activated even without the dxvaallowhqscaling option in advancedsettings.xml? Are they available in all three render methods (DXVA, Pixel shaders, Software)? Is there a preference for the renderer to use, qualitywise?
I suppose HQ Scalers are still Lanczos3 and Spline36, with no new scalers having been added in the recent past. But if Auto is selected as "Video scaling method" in video options, when watching a video, what does it choose? Considering that, among the options there we find "DXVA" is that the one to choose to get the HQ Scalers?
I've written about this in the past, but I see all these settings as completely unclear in what they do. I hope a developer can clarify.

Recommendation System using Machine Learning

I am Shivansh Beohar, currently pursuing B.Tech in Information Technology from IIIT Allahabad, India. I am interested in the project "improve suggestion using ML".
I have successfully built Kodi on my machine (Windows). For this project I have looked into the past year's forum as pointed out by @Razze , following the discussion there, I have doubts regarding this post . Since making (and maintaining) ML models in python is much easier than C++, What should be the right approach to integrate python models into C++? What is the exact problem with add-ons ?
If add-ons are a problem I propose a hybrid solution for this, the input ( or data feeder ) pipelines can be built in C++, with pre-trained python saved locally, we can call the python scripts from C++ code and get the output. These python models can be implemented to be trained further through new data (incremental training, not retraining).
@Razze can you guide me here ?

v18 - Noob expectations question
I have been messing around with Kodi on my new firestick 4k for the last 2 weeks obsessively. I've reinstalled Kodi maybe 20 times after Boucher attempts with different builds.
I'm not asking for help on how to do something... I just want to know what is possible and what is crazy hard.
My goal is to have a clean interface that has my tv zion for movies and my gears or nitro for tv.
I was able to make this happen but it did not have all the bells and whistles the builds have.
My end goal is to have live tv and a movies.
But I would like to have the cool widgets as well. Right now i dont have any widgets.
I tried adapting a build to use my gears and zion but failed.
Is there a way to take a build and adapt it wo my players (for lack of the right term)
Or maybe learn how to use widgets that use my players when i click on them.
I'm not asking for help on how to do something... I just want to know what is possible and what is crazy hard.

Linux - missing #EXTM3U descriptor on line 1, attempting to parse it anyway.
I am using kodi-18.1-Leia-x86 with PVR IPTV Simple Clients.
For more than 4 months I have been watching IPTV without any problems. Sinds the last update when trying to access IPTV server with my login I am presented with the following Error:
Kodi Log is showing...
ERROR: AddOnLog: PVR IPTV Simple Client: URL 'http://xxxxx.live:8080/get.php?username=Xxxxxxxxxxx&password=XxXxXxXxX&type=m3u_plus&output=ts ' missing #EXTM3U descriptor on line 1, attempting to parse it anyway.
The Server Administrator says login is fine and #EXTM3U is not missing and used with correct syntax.
Can anyone please help me?

I have a series whose chapters have an introduction (opening), the chapter, credits (ending) and advancement
The files are separated, but they are shown as one by the file "chapters" in the MKVs chapters
In this way, the intro and the ending that are always repeated are loaded from the separate files and that memory is saved
In the VLC player this works, but in Kodi the files are shown individually without taking into account the others
Can I enable this option or download an add-on?

Shield with DVBViewer recordings

I have a Shield and Windwos Server with dvbviewer.
LiveTV works great, but recording stop after few secends.
But with the file manager the recordings Play fine

Subtitles add-ons, please add IETF language tags in subtitles filename

Bug - Kodi deleting or modifying previous entry when scanning in similar song
Hi!
I've been tracking down this, what I believe, to be bug down for a while now.
I've noticed that after a library scan, if Kodi scans in a similarly named song in a different location, it will either modify the previous entry by modifying the userrating and/or iTimesPlayed (at least, this is all I've been tracking) and add a new entry for the newly found song or completely get rid of the previous entry and adding the new song location. I currently have examples of both after a library scan.
I have confirmed that the songs that have had their db song entries modified or deleted to still be on the samba there and working without a problem.
I have the full kodi.log of the music library scan (12 MB - large backlog of scans because I wanted for 18.x to be released), I have CSV snapshots showing any song that has an itimesplayed or userrating > 0 showing the differences between the before and after library scan, and I currently have my previous snapshot of the mysql database and the current snapshot of the mysql database.
As indicated I won't post logs (and I'll take that to not post any images about the problem as well) but I am happy to provide whatever info needed tom help resolve this/prevent this from happening.
