v18 - Impossible to download Kodi from website!

Whenever I try to download Kodi 18.1 (Raspberry), the website shows "Download started --- We hope you enjoy your shiny new copy of Kodi as much as we enjoyed making it!"

But no download starts. 

I've two differenttried using two different PCs, with various browsers and different IPs too. 

Can anyone give me a hint?

No matter what I try, setting the renderer to software DOES NOT WORK.  It's almost as if the software rendering method contained in Leia (the latest version) is an option that is not working.
I had Kodi working fine under Windows 10 before I tried Linux, and when I got tired of Linux playing choppy video, I decided to go back to Windows 10 and install Kodi again, but for some reason this time it simply refuses to play my video.  Anything I click on I can hear fine, but the screen rotates between various solid colours.

This seems like an ongoing problem for some people and many responders tell the person to simply select Software rendering.  But for me, that doesn't work.

Anyone out there able to help?

Android - Getting Kodi on the Sony AF9: am I using the right APK?

TLDR;
When sideloading to the Sony AF9, I have used an apk named "kodi-20190108-8d666add-org.xbmc.sony-armeabi-v7a.apk". Is this the right one?

For whatever reason – Bad Sony being the general assumption – installing Kodi on the Sony AF9 is not possible through the usual channels but requires "sideloading" a "modified apk", according to a recent reddit post as well as this long thread here on this forum.

With the help of this tutorial I managed to install an apk I found via the above-mentioned kodi forum thread named "kodi-20190108-8d666add-org.xbmc.sony-armeabi-v7a.apk", and now everything seems to work like a charm! Kodi is much faster than it was on the raspberry pi I used before, and as far as I can tell it plays everything as it should. Indeed, it even plays 4K material just as it should (at least it looks wonderful and displays as 4K in the video info in Kodi), even though some posters claimed that the modified apk only worked with 1080.

But since there seemed to be several potential apkConfused in the thread, I just want to make sure that I used the best one. Anyone?

Channel Guide Updates

I have been running Kodi with the HDHomerun PVR for years. I use it on Fire TV, Android tablet and Windows. For the most part it has worked flawlessly. I recently upgraded to 18.1 and I am experiencing an issue with the channel guide.

When I first start up Kodi, the channel guide loads. Once it initially loads, the guide doesn't update unless I manually open System > PVR & Live TV > Guide and select Clear data to force it to reload the guide or exit and restart Kodi. I have the Update intervals in System > PVR & Live TV > Guide set to 15 minutes but it doesn't update the guide. Is there something else that needs to be done in Kodi 18.1 or with HDHomerun PVR to get it to update the guide periodically?

PVR NextPVR help for skin developer

Would any skin developers like a copy of pvr-nextpvr that would work in demo mode without having to do any backend setut to help in skin development?  I recently created a video https://youtu.be/vgQsRVOnl_4 showing how the PVR recording screen and playback screen vary widely in how they display Title, Episode Title, Season and Episode Number.   It varies so much that NextPVR used a substitution of the Title with "S##E## Episode Title" which I have to provide as an option but hardcoded faked labels are not helpful for creating great skins  The non-faked option would be applicable to all PVR addons.

This video is for Estuary, Confluence and Aura, but if anyone wants I can create a video with their skin.  About 3 minutes in I flip to the generic mode.

Can't install skins in 18.1

Not sure if this is the right place to post, But I am having a difficult time installing any skins. Tried to install the Aeon versions that are in kodi 18.1 but get this error or a version of this every time..
"the dependency on resource.images.recordlabels.whiteversion 0.0.1 could not be satisfied".
Also tried to directly download and install but get the same message. I can install the Husham version of confluence but it dosen't work correctly at all.
I am on a new Linux computer with a new AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics processor.
Can I correct this error?

v18 - Kodi crashes on certain video files after upgrade to 18.0

Ever since upgrading from 17.1 to 18.0 certain files crash to desktop ("Kodi has stopped working.") after ~1 second of audio and video stutter. The same vids worked perfectly before and work fine when I play them on Windows without Kodi. Tested for mostly MKV x264 with various resolutions, but could not find a pattern which work or do not work. The log shows a bunch of warnings that I have tried searching, but nothing stands out towards a solution in my situation:

Microstutters

This past month or so, I've been replacing all of my equipment. I use to have an old Core2Quad PC running OpenElec on a 10yr old Sony Bravia, and then switched to a Beelink android box with CoreElec with my hard drives in a NAS setup (WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra).

Got it all sorted and running, then yesterday the TV was replace with TCL 6-series 55".

Played with some settings, image was too sharp and clear, everything looked like shot with a camcorder and ghosting. Switched that and everything looks good, except some videos tend to microstutter. Not size related either. I have a single MKV file, X265, 10-bit, 4K, around 50GB of Infinity Wars and seems stutter free. I'll grab an x265 1080p around 4000kbps (3.5GB) and microstutter.

So many settings, not sure where to start... any ideas?

I am running off ethernet, gigabit router with Cat6e ethernet cables. NAS is about 3 feet away as is the router so, ethernet from NAS-Router-Beelink.

Power On/Off Button

When I had a PC running OpenElec, when I clicked the POWER button on the remote, it shut off the PC which also shut off the TV. The PC had a Flirc Streacom installed, very handy.

I switched to a Beelink GT1 Ultimate, and with my Sony Bravia (10yrs old) I pressed the POWER button, the box turned on and about 5sec later the TV turned on. Press the POWER button again, and absolutely nothing on either the Beelink or TV or KODI. Using the universal or original remote. I assume because after the Beelink turns on and boots to CoreElec on the SD card, the POWER button no longer works the same.

I switch to a TCL 6-Series 55" yesterday and now, I turn on the Beelink... and it goes on, that's all. When in Kodi and I go to shutdown, it turns off the Beelink, and the TV stays on asking if the source is still powered on/connected.

Sounds like a few issues... hardware and software. Hoping someone has some insight about

1 - Press POWER and it powers off the system instead of having to navigate to the power option on screen and click power off.
2 - When system shuts down, the TV shuts down. TCL TV so far is very nice.... but the manual kinda blows.
3 - Press POWER on and everything turns on like it did when the old SONY was attached. Didn't even need to program that, the TV just did it, assuming gotta be a way on a newer one.

Wasn't sure which forum area to post this in, figured other OS made sense since using CoreElec and Roku. Thanks

Issue with specific libretro core (ngp)

Hello,

I have every other core working fine (atari, nes, genesis, snes, and psx), but when I install beetle neopop for Neo Geo Pocket Color games my gamepad does not work. It is a 8bitdo SNES30 w/ the latest firmware, being used wired.

What is weird that is I look at the installed controller profiles, and it shows up and I can map the buttons w/o issue just like any other controller. When I open a NGPC game, the game opens but I have no control. If I open the menu and go to settings > control while the emu is running it doesn't allow me to map any buttons and shows "nothing to map" under buttons.

I tried updating the controller plugin game.controller.ngp but that didn't seem to help. I assume it is an issue with that specific core/controller plugin but not 100% sure. Has anyone else got this working and if so did you have to do anything weird to make that happen (like edit a config file manually etc.)

Super favorites doesn't work in Kodi 18. I add an add-on to super favorites. When I go in super favorites and open the add-on.Nothing happen.
Can someone give me an idea how to fix this problem?

Atmos, dts-x logo support

I've seen a couple of other skins making a workaround to show atmos and dts-x logos based on strings in filename (ffmpeg don't support atmos). could this be implemented in black glass nova too?

Read setting from guisettings.xml

I've noticed that Estuary doesn't honour the Settings > Media > Video > Flatten Hierarchy setting in the GUI.

How to I read that setting in XML? I've tried Skin.HasSetting(myvideos.flatten) but it doesn't seem to work.

First time adding music to kodi issues.

I have been using Kodi for video and live TV since 2012.
This is the First time adding music to kodi.

So i am doing a test run and it is not working.
I am sure this is operator error, need some help sorting this out.

Kodi 18.1 on Kubuntu 18.10
I used Picard to tad 3 Artists as follows:

I added the source >Kodi Music, to kodi which scanned in.
The album art and artist name appears in the library but no files/songs.

when i try to view anything in the library i get:
Library update-Music library needs to rrescan tags from files. Yes or No
Library update-Fetch additional information for albums and artists? Yes or No

The odd thing is everything shows fine if i go to files.

Win - Smart Playlist Sorting

I seem to remember in earlier versions of Kodi (XBMC) that, when creating a smart playlist for a tv series (i.e. Stargate), you could sort them by air date. For example, when SG-1 reaches the point where Atlantis first aired, the first episode of Atlantis would play then back to SG-1, then Atlantis and so forth.

Is this not possible any more? I can't find a way to set it up like that any more.

I am currently using 17.6 on Windows 10 from the site, not Windows Store.

v17 - Json method for radio_de currently played station name

Hi,
I'm using Krypton on Rpi and I use à json rpc client from an arduino like to remote control the excellent radio_de addon. It's ok to list all of my stations by using the Files.GetDirectory method and especially the label of each. All of the others method are ok for play pause or set volume. However I have a problem to obtain the name (label or title) for the station currently played. I can obtain its link or even the title of the current song played by the radio stream but not the name like it appears in the label field of the response of GetDirectory method with .../stations/my
Is there a specific field around Player.Get... method to obtain other respsonse than the link of stream ?

do you know if, in the future, we will be able to scrap our sources in FTP?
because it seems to me that this is sharing SAMBA for the moment

unless I'm wrong, this will avoid activating the SAMBA share if not necessary or if our source is remote

Left side pop out panel

Hi Guys
I am running Kodi 17.6 with aeon nox silvo skin. when I want to change my view of what is on my panel I can pop out the left aeon nox view panel and it has loads of options. The default is LIST. So I scroll down and select another view. That's fine it changes the view but when I go to the next page its back on list again. I have disabled all of the available options  in settings except PANEL which is the one I want but I cant disable LIST so I have to change every time I go to next page. There has to be a way to set it so all my pages will display the same. Any help guys thanks
