Getting Simple Client and Playlist loader working together.

I have simple client installed and for the most part working. Not all of Fluxus channels work, but that's not Simple client's fault. Wanting the option of adding multiple play lists, started searching google for something else. That's when I found the add-on Playlist loader. Supposedly this is going to give you the choice of which playlist Simple client loads. But I've had nothing but issues trying to get these two add-on's working together. Everything from Kodi totally locking up to Simple client unable to load channels. 

Part of the issue is that there's a few different versions of Playlist loader out there. One I know for sure comes in the Kodil repo. I don't recommend this one! When it installs, it modifies your user data file and changes the adress of your current playlist to an IsraeliTV one. I actually had to reinstall Kodi to fix this issue! Avigdiork is the developer. There's a newer version with Avigdork and Nux007 ver 1.2.1. Not as many errors with this version, but....there's always a but! Any how-to doesn't match this version and I have yet to figure out where to add a url to this version! So I can't even get one playlist to work let alone multiple ones!

How do I set a different path to save the thumbnails?

HI!

I would like to save my thumbnails in this folder of a share:

\\Krulju\Thumbnails2

The share is set so everyone can access it. (When creating the share set that everyone can write / read)

How do I write this now in the advancedsettings.xml? At the moment it looks like this for me:

<pathsubstitution>
   <substitute>
   <from>special://masterprofile/Thumbnails/</from>
   <to>smb:\\Krulju\Thumbnails2/</to>
   </substitute>
 </pathsubstitution>

But no thumbnails are stored there.
Can someone help me?

Request - NFO file fanart location not relative

Hi all,

For certain titles, I prefer to use NFO files in the same location as the ISO file. I also keep the cover art and fan art in the same location as the ISO file as well. In the NFO file, the cover art is done with the <thumb aspect="poster" preview="...">...</thumb> tag. That tag allows relative location. So i don't have to specify the full path. I can just use the file name of the image since it's in the same location as the NFO and ISO files. However, for the fan arts that uses the <fanart><thumb preview="...">...</thumb></fanart> tags, I have to specify the full path even if the file is located in the same location as the NFO and ISO files. This prevents me from moving them to another location if needed without having to edit the NFO file to change the fan art's path. If I need to move a bunch of them, that becomes very tedious to edit the NFO files. Same goes with the thumb tags in the <Actor> tag. Is it possible to make them all behave the same way, being able to use both relative and absolute locations?

Error: unable able to create application exiting.

Good afternoon,

I have been kodi for a long time. I am currently running on a windows 10 laptop about 2 years old. I am now getting an error when trying to load kodi of Error: unable able to create application exiting. I have gone through the process of deleting the old profile from the app data folder and all of that. Was still getting the error. I have even tried to uninstall the entire thing and download a new version. But every time the same error comes up i have check to see if i have any lingering files setting in the pc and run virus scans. And nothing has come to my attention. Any help would much much needed.

I hooked up a 2nd hard drive to Raspberry Pi 3 using LibreElec and only one shows up under Root Filesystem/Media.
Is this limited to only one hard drive ?

Android - Phillip's hue lights and Kodi

I set up my Phillip's hue lights with kodi and one of the things I read online is that the ambilight mode on the lights will not work if "allow hardware accelaration- mediacodec (surface)" is enabled on kodi. I disabled it and the light were working and changing colors with the TV screen, just like an ambilight should work....I have kodi on an nvidea shield and something happened where nothing was loading correctly on kodi. I ended up reinstalling kodi, but now when I disable that above setting to start using the ambilight mode on the lights the movies will not play. I see the time at the bottom moving but the actual movie does not play. As soon as I enable that setting the movies will play fine. I can set up the lights in theater mode where the lights will turn off when the movie plays and turn on when paused or the movie stops, but I would like to use the ambilight....does anyone know why when I disable that setting movies will not play and is there any way to fix this? as I stated, before reinstalling kodi it was working fine with no issues. please help

Artist Bio

Sometimes during music playback the artist bio is not a single line scrolling across the bottom. Sometimes it will be several lines vertically and I want to force a single line. Can anyone help with this?

Background Overlay

I'm running the krypton build and I have "Background overlay texture = none", "Background overlay texture color = none" and "Background color diffuse = none" and when playing and music tracks the background still has an overlay. Can anyone help with removing this?

Android - please share your buttonmaps and help to improve Kodi

Hey folks. As you probably have noticed, after a recent change to the buttonmap handling in Kodi your beloved controller doesn't work out of the box anymore on Android devices. As always, you can map the controller yourself in "Settings -> System -> Input -> Configure attached controllers", but it would of course be better if most of the controllers out there would just work out of the box on new installations. And this is where we need your help. We'd like to ask you to share the buttonmaps of your controllers so that we can ship them with Kodi. We only need the button map for the "Kodi" controller, so you don't have to map all the different controller profiles we provide for use with retroplayer, just the default "Kodi" controller layout will be enough.

I will collect here a list of the controller profiles we already have, so that you only have to take action if you have a controller that is not yet listed here (or mentioned in the posts below):
  • nVidia SHIELD controller (2015 wifi model)
  • OUYA controller

UPNP not working on Fire Stick v2, wrong 192.168.49.1 address

Hello,
I have a Fire TV Stick v2 which I'm trying to set up as a UPnP server but despite following many online tutorials my Fire Stick is not seen by any other device on my network over UPnP.
If I configure Kodi as a UPnP server on any other Windows or Android device it works but just not on the Fire Stick v2.
UPnP also worked on my previous v1 Fire Sticks but never on the v2.

Over the last few months I have tried Kodi 17.6, 18 Beta 2 and quite a few nightly development builds but none seem to work.
I have reset the Fire Stick to factory defaults and installed Kodi cleanly many times.

Using Android apps Bubble Upnp, AllCast, Power Media Player, VLC and Ping Tools UPnp Scanner the Fire Stick v2 doesn't show up as a UPnP device although it is visible over AirPlay.
I have installed another UPnP server on the Fire Stick and that works but not Kodi.
The Fire Stick works correctly when connecting to other devices over SMB.

My Fire Stick v2 is using IP address 192.168.0.25 but the following Kodi.log entries seem to show it is trying to use 192.168.49.1 for UPnP:

My understanding is that 192.168.49.1 is the Fire Sticks Wifi Direct IP address that it uses to connect to the remote.
Google throws up quite a lot of hits regards Kodi and 192.168.49.1 on the First Stick v2 and several references that this issue will be resolved in Kodi 18.
I have tried Kodi 18 Beat 2 and the latest Kodi 18 nightly development build but still have the same issue.

Does anyone have a workaround or is it possible to add an entry to upnpserver.xml or similar to override the use of 192.168.49.1?

Linux - KODI 17.6 UK Series "Bodyguard (2018)" coming up as Japanese show "BG (2018)"

When I scan for names, the UK TV Series "Bodyguard (2018)" comes up instead as the Japanese Series "BG (2018)".

I've matched the exact naming convention in TVDB, tried using "i" and "Refresh" to change the name, tried various combinations of the name to get it to match, none work.

All comments I see on this type of issue say "get the file name right", which I have laboriously checked, so I'm out of ideas.

Any way to run a simple batch file within Kodi?

As the subject states, I'm having ongoing sound issues in Kodi (not Kodi fault, it's a HDMI / amplifier thing) - if I can run a batch file, it saves me rebooting the PC and saves my other half hassles, which isn't fun.

Anyone know if this is possible AND OR if I can use the Kodi remote / Android phone / iPhone or some kind of app to "inject" a batch file to run, don' tcare how - prefer to use Kodi to summon the batch with as nice simple shortcut though.

Now that Kodi is coming out with DRM and 4K support, and comparing itself to smart tv on their website, there really should be more ways to actually have it. Tv stick/dongles might be a good way to go since it would be easy to plug into most screens, it would be portable and could compete with other tv stick/dongles with the new V18.

That's my thoughts and the main reason why I made this account to get that out there, I guess comment or whatever forum people do.

Several time deselect duplicate films

When I select the option of duplicated movies it takes a long time to search the database, that may be normal since it is large but when I remove the selection it takes the same time, the application being blocked.
