Problem with PXE-Boot

Hy,

I do have a problem when booting the pi with libreelec and PXE (using the following image: LibreELEC-RPi2.arm-8.2.5.img.gz)
While booting, the system crashs, reboots with a red screen and tells me, that too many crashes occured during last boot.
In errorfile (Kodi-Failed\temp\kodi.log) is the following message:

The system boots well, when using an SD-Card instead.
My commandline.txt in PXE is the following:

boot=NFS=192.168.10.100:/pxeroot/@UID@ disk=NFS=192.168.10.100:/pxeroot/raspi/piSchlafzimmer quiet ssh ip=dhcp

What can I do to solve this problem?

Ubuntu 18 Kodi Leia - Are any of the builds anything approaching stable?

I am attempting to install Kodi Keia beta following the wiki instructions for installing from the nightly PPA. This is running in conjunction with TVHeadEnd 4.3. The whole setup is running in WMWare Workstation on a Ubuntu 18 platform. Leia boots ok, then when the PVR manager starts up it crashes. Keeps dying at exactly the same point. Is anyone aware of this issue and/or can suggest a solution/alternative Leia build to try? Thanks.

RetroPlayer Nvidia Shield controller support

Installed the RetroPlayer 18 beta2 2018-09-14 build on a new Nvidia Shield 2017, and having problems getting the controllers to work in emulator games. It seems the input from the controller is being locked to Kodi, and not working in the emulator. I can use it to navigate the menus for configuring controllers and such after launching a game, but it doesn't work for controlling the game. I have tried remapping the controls using the gui, and still no go. 2048 doesn't work either, but oddly Mr Boom seems to work (at least until it crashes). When in an emulator game, or 2048, hitting the B button takes me back to Kodi with the game running in the kodi background process that I can rejoin by hitting B again. 

RetroArch works outside of Kodi just fine though. 

Any help is appreciated.

Beta - Leia Beta 2 and 20180921 nightly crash on launch on Samsung Glaaxy Tab S2

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (Snapdragon 652 processor) running Android 7.0.0
Kodi 17.6 runs fine.

I've tried both the Kodi 18 Leia beta 2 and the nightly (20180921) and both of them with throw a Kodi splash screen once on first run, then crash. Subsequent launches don't even generate a splash screen, just crash immediately.

I've tried turning on debug logging in the advancedsettings.xml but no log file is produced.
I've tried doing a clean install of both the beta 2 and the nightly but get exactly the same results.

Not sure how to proceed with troubleshooting at this stage? Or is this known/expected behaviour with the Android v18 builds currently?

Clean library not removing empty paths

Hey guys, maybe it's my misunderstanding. but I have all my TV shows under their own folder with seasons within.

TV Shows
   Show1
      Season 01
      Season 02
   Show 2
     Season 01
   etc

All has been working really well.

I have sinced removed the Show 2 folder and run a clean media but it still shows up in my TV Shows within Kodi.

Should the clean have removed it?

Win - Visual Studio 2017 Character Encoding - Need to select Unicode instead of Multibyte.

I'm trying to build a plug-in using VS2017, but the character encoding in the cmake-generated solution is wrong.  It's set to multibyte, whereas Kodi itself specifies unicode (Kodi is also built with VS2017).

I can't figure out how Kodi was configured to specify unicode rather than multibyte.  I don't see anything in the CMakeLists.txt about the character encoding.  Can someone please lend me a clue?

Android - dts passthrough on androidtv os

I have connected my android tv via arc on my avr.I have also connected my pc on my tv via hdmi.
Kodi 17.6 on win10 has dts passthrough, it works fine.
Kodi 17.6 on Androidtv os has dts passthrough issues.There is no dts passthrough unless I enable the DD transcode.If I enable the DD transcode I dont get dts sound, instead I recieve DD.
Is there a way to get dts sound on androidtv os kodi 17.6?

TV show folder artwork missing

Hi guys, for some reason I have 1 TV show that isn't showing folder artwork, just comes up with a picture of a grey folder.

The folder structure is the same as all my other ones and if I go into the show I can see that Kodi has picked up all the seasons and episodes.

What would cause that? And is there a way to get it to show up?

Bug - 4k Playback issue with DXVA2 Hardware acceleration on V18.0 B2

Hello,

When I play 4K HVEC content with hardware acceleration on it is all grainy and washed out.

Kodi version: 18.0 Beta 2

v18 - Not working with old Win7 Acer D255E, meets Kodi specs. 17.6 ok with soft render.

Kodi 18 beta 2 works fine on my Amlogic TV box with CoreElec 8.95.2.

Kodi 17.6 on this Acer laptop also works fine with software rendering selected under Player settings (auto detect didn't work after Kodi 16.)

But Kodi 18 beta2 doesn't work with any render method under Player (soft, auto, pixel, dxva.)

My other render settings are the same- HQ scaling 20%, allow DXVA2 HW acceleration. All other settings are default.

The Acer laptop, running Windows 7 home premium, dual core Atom N455 1.67 GHz CPU, upgraded to 2GB RAM, has an Intel GMA 3150 with Direct 3D version: DirectX 11.1 (FL 9.1.) Checked under Kodi > System Info.

According to Kodi HW requirements updated July 27-2018 (scroll to bottom for Windows) my Acer does meet reqs:

Note that I only stream 720p or below.

Any clues?

Walled Garden Approach?

Did a search but couldn't come up with much.  Was wondering why Kodi doesn't decide to go the walled garden approach in regards to add-ons to fight piracy add-ons.  Thus, reviewing add-ons and if deemed non piracy allowed in.  I get this will limit 3rd party repositories, but it would definitely stop Kodi's name from being dragged through the mud.

Request - One Movie in multiple collections

As far as i understand one movie can only be part of one collection.

I would like to request the following funktion: Create somethink like a "alternative collection" wich can be flexible organized, e. g. in assignment of movies, order of display... Not based on the TMDB Info

What i would like to achieve here is heaving e. g. IRON MAN (2008) being part of the Iron Man Collection as well as the (alternative) Collection Marvel Cinematic Universe - Phase One (With Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America....)

Would that be possible?

Secondary control touchscreen on case

I am planning to create a low power HTPC / mediacenter, which can handle also lightweight steam games. The mediacenter will be also used to play music. And, I would like to listen to music in dimmed light, without turning the 32" screen on...

Currently I use a laptop as HTPC, but I plan to modify unused Grandia GD09 by putting 7" display with touch support to it. Such displays are connected via VGA/HDMI plus USB for touch screen.

I would like, if Kodi would support such display in various modes. One mode is for movie playback, when this touchscreen is blacked or turned off, second mode is for control while playing (ie. touch lightens it up), third mode is for evening music playback with touchscreen only display.

Kodi version is 18.0-BETA3 Git:20180923-1a67bd7, OS is Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS, kernel: Linux x86 32-bit version 4.4.0-135-generic

Curl is apparently unable to connect to any secure sites, just giving this instead.

I also have a 64 bit version built from source which does not exhibit this, so I'm wondering if it's peculiar to the 32 bit version ??

As far as I know, the certificate store on the machine is correct.  I'm guessing it must be because curl in a terminal can connect fine and it's using the same ones.

I'd attempt a build from source, but I reckon it would take that machine around three hours vs 30 seconds to install the nightly.  I doubt many people are using a 32bit version these days, so wondered if something has sneaked in 'under the radar'.

Assistance to achieve HDR and Atmos

Hi!

I've been trying to read up on all video and audio formats and containers to understand how I can achieve HDR for my Samsung 65KS7005 and Dolby Atmos in my Samsung HW-K960 (called HW-K950 in the US) when playing files from my Synology NAS. I have successfully played Atmos from a test video from my phone through VLC on Chromecast, but never a proper movie since something always fails (either Plex want to transcode which it's not powerful enough for in 4K or the sound is lacking). I also have a PS4 Pro which should be able to handle Atmos, but only x264. Never got it to work there either. The TV's players don't support Atmos, so even though some 4k files play fine on it, I don't get Atmos sound. I think that the soundbar only support 5.1 Atmos, if 7.1 it just can't decode it, not sure it this really is the case though.

I've been starting to consider if I should get a media player and been looking at the Vero 4K+. Do I really need another device to get this to work properly? Can someone help guiding me? I've read the START HERE thread and other device specific thread but I have too little knowledge of the different formats and how they work with passthrou and so. I haven't really understood what formats my soundbar can handle and if other formats can be worked around to get working. I've read something about lossy and lossless Atmos?

Can someone please help me to find a way to get HDR and Atmos and understand what formats my setup currently handles and how I could increase the support? I would be super happy 😁

Been working with Kodi for several years now. Wanting to created my own build. Besides getting addons working I want to start learning how to modify Kodi and how it displays things. The first "issue" I would like to customize is how my lists are displayed no matter which addon I'm using at the time. Currently it's set to widelist and I'd prefer it to being wall. It's a minor issue, it's the learning experience that I'm most interested in. Was reading the wiki on advancesettings.xml  and didn't see a command that would help me with this issue....yet.
