Module Mapper - Plugin Development made easy

Description
This is a small side-project which I made while creating a plugin for Kodi to ease the
development process of folder navigation for plugins.

It basically allows you to "map" url path patterns to functions and easily access a URLs
query as they will be passed as arguments.
As the patterns you define are pure python regex patterns, you can even extract values from
a URLs path.


Usage
Please head over to the Github repository
I added quite some examples showing the general usage and how I imagined it
in combination with a Kodi addon.


Important note
This module is NOT YET in the official repository as there has to be at least one other add-on in the official repository
depending on it.
My add-on (a new Google Play Music implementation) will never see the official repo as it is not allowed to.

So if you want to use this module, just clone it from github to get your implementation done and as soon as you submit it to
official repo, let me know and I will submit this module as well Smile


Feature requests / Bug reports
Please use Githubs Issue tracker for that.
This will keep everything nice and organized in one place (making it easier for me)

Hello im been doing some research on adding luve tv on my rasberry pi2 o stalled with kodi. There are so many tutorials out there and i tried one it dont work so i was wo dering of there are any good tutorials that anyone could point me to.

Autosize objects?

Hi.

A textbox is supposedly able to autosize. Doesn't work. Doesn't matter..
Is there a way to dynamically size objects?

In my wip skin I overexpose albuminfo on a darkened transparent area that is again overexposed on the fanart. I have no choice but to darken a fixed size area. Looks stupid be because some albuminfo texts are short and some are long.

I want the textbox to autosize and bottomalign with the fanart.
I want the darkened area (image) to autosize with the teztbox.

If python is necessary then so be it.

Internals of PlayMedia("playlist_path") and videoplaylist,musicplaylist views?

I use PlayMedia("playlist_path") and would like to know how Kodi internally handles it.
I do not understand, neither do I see it in wiki, what happens within Kodi whenever it starts playing the container (m3u) with the links.

My findings are those: Kodi starts playing the first link from the playlist, the Playlist python object is filled with the list and you can move back and forth.

My main question is such:
what is the correlation between PlayMedia command and the views "videoplaylist" and "musicplaylist"?

If I run the PlayMedia("playlist path") from Python, I see that Kodi simply cannot handle the correct view for the playlist items.
On the other hand, we do not have another parameter to tell Kodi what view to use to show the items of currently playing playlist.

Would anyone clarify this, please?

Discussion - Concerns about plugin development and the wiki entry

Okay, so I've started my first plugin (made a view other addons already) a few weeks ago and was
working my way through the wiki on how to implement the navigation between pages

I quickly ended up with bulky if ... elif ... blocks to determine what page to show and what function to call and decided
that that's not the way to go.
Hence I started a small side-project... ... to make all this easier.

So my concerns now...
The way the wiki (which is the entry point for new add-on developers like me) suggests how to implement page navigation seems not quite right to me.
Especially how e.g. the plugin urls are built plugin://plugin.video.myaddon/?mode=folder&foldername=Folder+One.
That's not how a URL should look like, that's how one should look like plugin://plugin.video.myaddon/folder-one?param=value

If a developer follows the wiki he will end up with bulky if ... elif ... blocks making the source hard to maintain and read.
I'm not quite sure if modules (like the one I made) already exist.
IF they do, they really should be mention in the wiki.

I know the wiki is only supposed to get you started and the rest is up to you, but still, there should be at least some mentioning on how to properly proceed
once you understood how the basics work and e.g. mention modules that really can help you with your implementation.
I can not (and will not) believe that I'm the first one to create such a module for Kodi. I couldn't fine one though so I had to reinvent the wheel and make a new one ^^
(I found some stuff that pretty much sounded like it would do something similar but there was no readme, no documentation so I just wrote one myself)

Please keep in mind that all this are just my thoughts and that I might be well and truly wrong.

Add Ons#.db Files

In my file manager, I have 2 files Add Ons16.db and Add Ons19.db. A web search to resolve a problem suggests these might be to blame and should be removed. From the Wiki I see that these files store Add On including skin settings. Firstly, does having 2 similar files cause problems? Secondly, what will I lose if I delete them both? Advice appreciated.

Part File renaming Tool, Need Help

Hi all

I have a program called TheRenamer and it works really well but I want to add some more info to the end of the name of the file which TheRenamer can not do.

eg.

showname S01E01 Pilot.mkv

but what I want is this

showname S01E01 Pilot (WEB-DL)-(AC3 5.1).mkv

I would like to be able to add some extra text at the end of the file so I was wanting to know is there some sort of tool out there that keeps the file name intact but lets me add to the end of the filename.

I use TheRenamer as it gets the tv shows episode name and formats it right.

CEC Config to stop PVR Playback on TV Switch Off

Hi All,

Apologies if there is another thread on this (I looked, but couldn't find).

I'd like to be able to configure CEC so that when the TV is turned off, PVR playback is stopped. It's not unusual for other members of the family, or guests to just turn off the TV, but leaving the PVR playing live TV. This leaves my tvheadend server busier than it should be and also keeps the stream open and occupied.

I know there is an option for "Pause playback" - but that's almost worse, right.. leaves the stream open but keeps it recording the live stream.

Is there any way to do this, am I missing something silly, or is it a feature request?

[Bug/Feature Req?]Resume not working from search

Hello everybody, I'm supernew to Kodi.

One of my most favourite features is the option to resume a movie/tv show from where I left off but with Eminence this doesn't seem to work when I search for the thing I was watching last, because after searching I get shown a result list, I highlight what I want and press Enter (I'm on a Mac using Isengart) and it starts playing immedeatly without asking me if I want to resume.

I just switched to Confluence to test and here from the results list I get redirected to the file I selected in the library and when I start the media from there I get asked if I want to resume.

Why is this different with Eminence/is there a way to change it to Confluence's behaviour so I can use the resume feature when coming from a search?

android box over 4.4.2 running 14.2 kodi

How do you install kodi 15.2 on an android box that has been rooted
It tells me every time I try too install it that it can't be installed because it's conflicting with same name and different signature and the version that's on my box is 14.2 RC1 AND I'm trying too install isengard 15.2
Can someone help please I don't wanna uninstall my previous version

Amazon Fire Stick

First I want to say thanks for the add.

Second I'm new to Kodi as of one day and have did a lot of reading and have it on my PC and love it but I like to know if the Fire stick that is being sold at Best Buy are good ones to install Kodi on? I don't know what gen they are.

Select channel on satellite not on current satellite does not move positioner

Hi,

If i select channel on satellite that is pointed at, then channel plays fine. If one selects channel on another satwllite , the positioner does not move and the channel does not play.

If i do the same via android vuplus player, the satellite positioner moves and channel plays fine.

If i then go back to kodi, then the channel plays fine. But again selecting channels on other satellite do not play.

How can this be? I cannot see the diference between these two clients. I don't know protocol but surely the command is simply "select channel number". The choice of satellite and delegation of selecting satellite should be done by tuner?

Any ideas?

Fire Stick Stuttering playback

Hi

I've just bought an Amazon firestick after my parents had been using one for a while. I already had an Ouya which runs Kodi just fine and I've had no real issues with that. But ever since I've switched to the Firestick the playback has been terrible. I keep getting little momentary pauses. some times its like every 15 to 30 seconds.

Is there something I need to do to the firestick/kodi some hidden setting I need to alter?

The Firestick is running the latest version of Kodi, one of the reasons I was replacing the Ouya since it no longer supports the latest version.

Merge artist duplicates

Hi,

I have a fair size music collection with quite a few compilations.

When select Music and then Artists, there are quite a few artists which show up as duplicates mainly due to minor spelling issues (such as Bee Gees and BeeGees).

I can't correct the spelling as the names have been scraped from the music.

Is there any way in Kodi I can 'merge' the two entries into one?

Solved 15.0 -> 15.2 upgrade now no DD/DTS/DTS-Master playback

Hello,

Today I decided to upgrade from 15.0 which was working fine to 15.2 on Ubuntu 14.04 and now I can't get anything with Dolby Digital, DTS or DTS-Master to play back. Dolby surround material still seems to work from the spot testing I have done. Tried several titles and I may get a second of sound and a black screen.

Debug Log

Log is from an attempt to play back a DTS-MA title.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have come to fear updating. ;-)

Visualizers Missing in OpenELEC

I'm running OpenELEC 5.0.2, and when I search for visualizers, I don't find the category available. When I'm in the system, I see visualizers, but only the two default ones are available. Clicking get more takes me to an empty menu. Is this just me? I didn't have this issue with Kodi on my Mac Mini.

everything was fine on kodi until the other day i get errors on everything now and i mean everything no add ons or anything work tried uninstalling reinstalling everything i have windows 10 16 gig 1600mhz ram amd fx 6100 cpu wont even let me upload log file error script on everything even when i try config wizard its an error

I have recently bought an Android tv box .. brand is an "MX pro" with Quad Core and Kitkat installed. I've have the following problems..

(Isengard 15.1 installed)

1. GENISIS worked fine for a while but now get an error when it tries to load
2. Resorted to Icefilms but that now wont start a movie it says "working" then nothing happens - focus just returns to the movie source list
3. I don't seem to get all the movies listed in a given category (I have KODI on a pc (same version) and its displaying additional ones that the MBOX wont display)
4. The screen seems to jump back for no apparent reason when toggeling down the movies list

I've tried re-starting the box to no avail - I'm working fine on my KODI pc installation

Can't get movie info to appear, scraper working

I will admit I am at the bottom of the learning curve. Soooo much to absorb. Been setting up Isengard using Amber skin on Windows 10. Now trying to get my personal ripped movies into Kodi. I used the instructions in the Wiki to import my movies, all seemed to work correctly.but I can't get any info from TMDB to show up on any of my movie files. I get a message that TMDB info is being downloaded at start up.. All I see when I go to videos/files/local movies are the movie name and an image taken from somewhere at the beginning of the movie (not the standard movie cover art). When I press "C" and select movie info, I just get a keyboard asking for the movie name. I think I have formatted the movie names correctly (ex: Red Tails (2012).mp4). I've gone to TMDB website, doing a search on the movie name (leaving out the date in parenthesis) and get info directly. I must be missing something somewhere. Anyone have any idea what I am missing?

custom 'set content'?

"set content - directory contains' includes 'Movies' , 'TV shows', and 'Music videos'.

I have content in Kodi such as video tutorials, benchmark measurement tools, and demo videos (atmos, 4K, and 3D).

Is there a way to create a custom 'set content' directory type such as, 'Other' or 'Misc' to include the above items that would allow them to have posters, fanart, and thumbnail art similar to what is allowed for Movies and Music Videos?
