Audio settings for 3.1.2 soundbar

Hi,
I ve a nvida shield and a Q70T soundbar (3.1.2). Shield > hdmi in Q70T Soundbar hdmi out > Q80T TV (hdmi earc).
I put 5.1 in audio settings on the shield and on kodi. Also I allow pass through (shield and kodi audio settings).
I tried to play a BluRay remux with 7.1 atmos audio. Its works but I don't know if my settings are really optimized. I think that when I put passthrough in audio its the soundbar who work and it doesn't matter if I ve 5.1 or 7.1 or others on audio settings... That it ?

Movie scraper unable to access my samba share - issue started when I upgraded to 19.1

Hi everyone,

I have the exact same issue as in this thread

What happens is that the scraper is unable to lookup my samba share for some reason. Just like for the person in the thread I linked, the movies all play fine, and I can browse the content just fine.

Code:
ERROR <general>: Unable to lookup host: 'falcor'

The share is password protected, and I tried switching to the Universal Movie Scraper, but the issue remains (and is unchanged).

I tried the tip from the linked thread, to disable video tags, but it did not help. I also tried deleting the .kodi folder and I tried disabling the fast hash, but it also did nothing.

A workaround that does work is to go into Videos, and then into my movies folder, and selecting "Scan into library" for each and every new movie. It is only when I trigger a scan of the entire library that the issue manifests.

Any suggestions of what to try next?

Kodi 19 crashing entire display driver on display switch

Hello, I'm having some issues with Kodi matrix when I switch Kodi from one display to another while in full-screen. So basically my entire computer crashes, the image is frozen but I can tell that background processes are still running because of the hdd activity led and sometimes I can gracefully shut down the computer from the power on button. I checked the logs and I didn't find anything relevant, this happens on a fresh matrix install, does not happen with Leia. I will upload the log when I get home if you guys want to. Thanks for the help.

Can I add multiple stream sources for the same channel in the m3u?

Been using the documentation for my m3u and xml files here: https://github.com/Lunatixz/pvr.iptvsimple. I've got it all working as intended.

What I am noticing, though is at refresh time playback crashes. My scraper runs on a cron job to refresh the stream sources, and I have simple client refreshing the playlist at regular intervals. But I'm fairly certain the urls are simply rotating between servers, so I'd like to eliminate the refresh altogether if my hunch is actually correct.

Can I add multiple stream urls in the m3u under the same channel? Will simple client jump to the next url if the first doesn't playback?

Kodi JSON specifically for the 'All Seasons' view of a TV Show

I know this will go to a particular season of a particular TV show:

...but I can't find a way to get to the 'All Seasons' view for that show.  I've got a user request for this.

How to share submenu between layouts with different orientation?

Hi,
I'm struggling with submenu... Want to share submenu (so I think on the same level) between layouts but with different orientation.

which works but... working only second submenu. I was able to solve the issue with submenus on different level but the problem was with it, it was not shared so I had to set submenu for each layout.
I think I should use submenuOther tag for it, but then I don't know how to fill this with submenu entries as I can use "items" with submenu.

Movies freeze or crash kodi

I am VERY new to this.  I played with this about a year ago and kinda gave up do to lack of time.  Since then, my popcorn hour has been discontinued and the company closed its doors so here I am again.

I am starting with a very basic system to play with it.  Right now I have a beelink u59 mini computer that hooks directly into my AV receiver.  The pc is windows 10 with 1 external hdd and another 4 drive usb tower (only 3 drives in it now).  Everything seems to be fine.  I am using this for in house movies only so I am not doing anything over the web other than scraping the movies.  I also use windows remote access to connect to the beelink pc to do any maintenance or changes.

I am using rapier with only only the add ons being TheMovieDB Helper and the universal movie scraper.  Everything was going fine for the month or so that I have been playing with this and slowly migrating movies over from my popcorn to the kodi.

In the last 2 days for no apparent reason, kodi crashes on the beelink randomly.  I didnt add anything new to it or make any changes.  And now when playing any video, after about 20 minutes the video either freezes or kodi crashes or both.

I went to the extreme of uninstalling kodi and manually deleting the kodi folder in the Appdata,  I then installed kodi matrix again, then the rapier skin and both the addons.  It still crashes on me and I have no idea why.  The beelink is a bare pc with nothing on it other than firefox for hulu and netflix.

Another odd problem that I see is when I remote access in, I have kodi open on my office pc and remote access to the beelink on the same pc so I can make sure i am using the same settings on both.  When the remote access kodi randomly crashes, the kodi thats open on the pc as well crashes.  If asked, I would have kodi closed on the pc and when running from the beelink, kodi still crashes so I dont think they are related.  Just odd they both crash at the same time.

Any suggestions?  I think I have a log, but not sure how to read it or even load it here?  I did that bout a year ago and since forgot.

Again this is a basic set up at the moment for movies, sets and tv series that are directly connected to the pc

Recently Added Movies - Shield

My recently added movies stopped updating to show new movies. 
I'm using the default Kodi skin running Android / Nvidia Shield. How do I fix this?

To be clear:

The main menu section where I can see "Movies" & "TV Shows" etc., is behind by 4 movies. If I go to "Recently added" it will show me all of the titles, but how do I get the movies to update on the main menu?

Music Artist artwork?

Hello,
I previously had images of Music artists in both OSMC and in Coreelec before on other devices
- but now cannot figure out how to do it! Huh
I have successfully created a UPnP connection with my laptop and album artwork show up in Kodi.
I have installed both Artist Slideshow and Artwork Dump but cannot get Artist pics to download and show?
Is there a fanart addon??
How do you get Artist images in Coreelec 19.2?
I am using the Aeon Nox skin.

Play to Kodi’ browser addon

Hello,
On previous devices and builds I have used ‘Play to Kodi’ browser addon to cast video to Libreelec, Coreelec and OSMC from browsers Brave & Librewolf on my Linux laptop.
On my Beelink GS king running Coreelec 19.2 this is not working.
Other similar addons are not working either. eg Send to Kodi
Do these browser addons work with 19.2/Matrix?
Librewolf says cannot connect.
Brave brings a pop up on Kodi saying 'Playback Failed: One or more items failed to play.

LG's remote doesn't work with Kodi on RPi 3+

I have just installed Kodi (on LibreElec) on RPi3+ and connected to LG TV (model 32LF5800-ZA). The problem is that I can't use LG's remote to control Kodi, the remote doesn't work and I have to use a PC keyboard, which is not very cool.
Last time I installed Kodi on another TV was about 5 years ago. It was Samsung Smart TV and as I remember, Samsung's remote started working in the very beginning without any issues.

Do I need to make additional configuration to make the remote work on LG? I tried to connect RPi with another HDMI cable in another port in LG, but the problem persists.

LiveTV only playing for one second and stops

Hi.

Just installed Kodi on a Fire TV 4K ; all working well when it comes to browser recordings, watch one, create a new recordings etc.
But no go with LiveTV.

Playback starts, I have a picture showing and a tiny bit of audio and then it exists.

I tried running Kodi on a macOS device and I see the exact same behaviour.

It's a rather old backend installation (mythtv 29) but upgrading that would be a headache and I haven't tinkered with mythTV in a while.

In the Kodi logs I see no particular errors:

But I'm no expert in Kodi, I've virtually only installed it less than one hour ago.


On the mythtv backend I see nothing indicating an error, just that a new frontend connected, a recording was started and then got immediately closed.

(now for mythtv however I do know the backend code pretty well and it's definitely the frontend that disconnect, not the backend kicking it out).

Sometimes in Kodi logs I do see this line:

but there's nothing indicating as such on the mythtv side, just that the client (kodi) disconnected.

No Picture: 4k Downscale to 1080p

Looking for some advice for a problem I cannot resolve.  I have no problem playing Remux 4k files through kodi 19.1 via Fire TV Cubes to 1080p TVs, some buffering when skipping forward etc. but no playback issues.  However I have one file that when it finishes buffering plays only audio no picture at all - and I have recreated from source with the same problem.  Log file attached showing two movie resume plays, both files created from my original blue ray copies within the past day by the same method with no re-encoding, the first (v for vendetta) plays fine, the second (1917) gives no picture.  https://paste.kodi.tv/ororiqamah   the first file which is ok is 65.6 Mb/s and HDR10, the second which does not play is 76.4 Mb/s and HDR10+ with no other differences that I can see.  Any advice?

Play Shuffled / Randomized

Please tell me, if there is an easy way to add "Play Shuffled" / "Play Randomized" to the context menu. If not, please consider this a big feature request.

What do I mean?

In WinAMP, I drag files onto WinAMP, press the shuffle button --> done, randomized playlist.
In VLC, I drag files onto VLC, press the shuffle button --> done, randomized playlist.
In MusicBee, I right-click on a genre or what have you, play shuffled --> done, randomized playlist.
In BlackPlayer, I press on an album, genre, what have you, play shuffled --> done, randomized playlist.

In Kodi, I
1) Find the thing I want to randomize (file folder, genre, what have you)
2) Open the context menu (option button on the remote, context-menu key on Windows)
3) Press Play
4) Press Tab to switch to the fuill-screen menu (or press the back-button a couple of time on the remote, if running on RPi)
5) Open the context menu again -- this time, it's the playlist
6) Press the left button a couple of times to reach the shuffle button
7) Press the shuffle option
8) Skip the current track to get a "random" track
9) close the context menu
...to get the same result like in WinAMP / VLC / MusicBee / BlackPlayer

Isn't there a better way? Please fix or tell me, how to do it like in the other players.

What I'd like to do in Kodi, as well, is:
1) Open the context menu
2) Press "Play Shuffled" (which doesn't seem to exist)
3) Done

...especially for Music / Music Videos and all their sub-nodes, but useful pretty much everywhere for me.

Kodi crashes entering an http folder with video files

When I browse an http source Kodi crashes immediately when entering a folder containing video files.

Windows 10 64-bit with Nvidia GeForce 1080 Ti graphic adapter running at 2560x1440 144 Hz..
Dropping display settings down to 1920x1080 60Hz does not help.

I tried almost all versions from kodi-18.0-Leia_rc1-x64 up until the latest Matrix nightly and the problem is exactly the same.

It does not happen when the folder has only other kinds of files.
It does not happen when browsing a local drive or SMB source, even with video files.
It does not happen on another PC with Intel built in graphics. 
It does not happen with Kodi on Android TV browsing the same http source and folder where Kodi for Windows crashes.

Cannot scrape Planet Earth II Specials

Hi,
I'm having an issue with the "special" episodes of Planet Earth II.

My directory structure is:
Planet Earth II/Season 00/Planet Earth II - S00E0x - (name of special 0x)
Planet Earth II/Season 01/Planet Earth II - S01E0x - (name of episode 0x)

The Season 1 episodes all scrape perfectly.  I have the first 6 Specials but I only get three entries and those are wrongly titled. 

I'm using the TVDB scraper (I've also tried TVDB (new)) and both give the same results.  I really don't want to have to provide hand-crafted nfo's for these items.

Command to load a skin?

I would like to be able to switch between two skins quickly, and map a button on my remote to do this.

Is there any command that can be issued to load a particular skin?

Kodi + Raspberry Pi server buffering problems

I have a Torrent Box installation that I use on a Raspberry Pi 3b+ from which another Raspberry Pi 3b+ with Kodi takes the movies or series and plays them in the living room; so far so good, they are connected by cable, that is, the TorrentBox is connected to the router and Kodi also, so there seems to be no connection problems.

The problem comes when playing movies, files of 3 Gb or more through the network, where from time to time the cache warning comes up and loading in the Kodi player, it comes up more and more often, sometimes becoming impossible to watch a movie.

When I play series, files of less than 1 Gb or so, this problem does not occur.

I have generated a log but it weighs 1,3 Gb and I prefer not to upload such a long one Smile and I upload kodi_crashlog.
