Why does pressing the left mouse button during video playback crash Kodi (crash as in, Kodi stops responding to any input)? Mouse support isn't even enabled. It's 100% repeatable.

Movie title problem Universal Scraper
Hi,
This is my third KODI Media Center construction project. My first was XBMC followed by a second attempt with KODI just after it came around. It seemed like a cool idea, but I couldn't get it just right.
I must say that the current version (downloaded last week) is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.
I used LibreELEC and loaded it on my Pi 3 in just a few minutes. All the time spent since has been tweaking the look/operation and loading my 300+ DVD collection.
Thank you everyone who works on KODI, you're doing fantastic work!
ANYway, to my question; at the moment, I have around 280 movies and three TV Shows in my library. Three of the movies showed up with the title in another language after running the Universal Scraper.
Specifically:
The Name Of The Rose - title is in German
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is in Spanish
A Fistful of Dollars, also in Spanish.
I checked the movie titles and dates with both IMDB and TMDB. My directory structure looks like this
volume/KODI/Movies/The_Name_Of_The_Rose_(1986)/THE_NAME_OF_THE_ROSE_t00.mkv
volume/KODI/Movies/The_Good_The_Bad_and_The_Ugly_(1966)/title00.mkv
The poster, plot, cast etc. all look fine. It's just the title under the poster
I did some searches, and didn't find my answer. Hoping someone here knows what I missed
Thanks!

Need some opinions about performance, hardware and setup
I'm now somewhat familiar with Raspberry Pi and Kodi and have a nice setup at this point, but I have some questions:
I had been streaming through my wireless network from my main computer to view pictures, video and music from my main PC. It worked great, but I then thought about all the wear and tear on my main PC and electrical power use. So, getting more involved, I've installed a USB3 HDD. From previous reading about external drives and formatting (for use with RPi), I immediately reformat the new pre-NTFS formatted HDD to ex-FAT (FAT32 was not available, ~ 2 hours format time, 1TB). I copy files from my PC to the new USB HDD via USB3 to the HDD and get a pleasing ~100M/s. I connect to HDD the the RPI and watch videos fine (including picture and audio file use). I am very impressed with Kodi, and it finally makes use of much saved media available that was just stored away.
Next, I want to start adding to the libraries over my WiFi, but it is very slow (~350 kB/s download (with great undulating transfer rate (at a mediocre -59dBm reception)) - not usable for any practical file transfer of any size). Reading, I accept it's due to limitations of Samba - "OK, I'll have to live with that and make big file transfer via reconnecting at the PC". Further reading, all I find is talk about NTFS use and ext3 and ext4 formatting is essential. Next reading, the RPi WiFi is junk, and I need to get a 1 Gbps external WiFi for the RPi.
Next, I test out the YouTube add-on, and it's not doing well. So I back down video quality to 480p; the video quality is good enough, and fore-loading is staying well ahead of playing. "OK, it'll have to be like this", or "I may consider getting a faster router; There must be the problem".
So, while writing now, I try copying a file again because I confused what I already tested, and I get ~1MB/s download (from the RPI) and ~850kB/s upload (to the RPi) - acceptable for what I need to do (with a similar -59dBm signal strength)... so, the HDD formatting seems to be no problem, Samba seems to be no problem, and the router and its reception seem to be no problem. All use is the same to day as during the previous observations (no other users, etc...).
The only thing that happened differently that I know of is that I rebooted a second webcam the wirelessly streams video (old Android 4.0 smartphone) because it loses connection after ~ a week.
So, my questions are: Are the RPi employments so terrible? What basically happened on the bad day?
Also, now that the HDD library is forming with memorable and valuable content, I want to get a second HDD for cloning (back up). What is a good way to backup the HDD - straight USB to USB copy at the RPi or at the PC? (I don't really want to use backup software - I prefer straight, simple, complete copying.) Do I need to be concerned about extended drive copying time (heat buildup) when/if I do a HDD total copy (say it gets to be ~500MB)?
That's a lot of information, and I appreciate if you have read through it.
I'm running:
RPi 4B-2Gb, 5.10.11-v7l+ firmware, 3A power supply
Kodi 18.7 via RetroPie v. 4.7.1 from pre-made SD image from RetroPie
HDD: Western Digital easystore, 1TB
Wireless router: Linksys WRT54G (54 Mbps)

Subwoofer for a small room
Hello.
I recently moved, and unfortunately the new apartment can not boast a large area
, so the question of a compact subwoofer. Here https://downhomedigital.net/home-subwoof...ubwoofers/ claims that I will be happy with a compact subwoofer. Please tell me, is a compact subwoofer worse than its "normal" counterparts? Or is it equal in sound quality?

Build a webinferface
Hi all,
I am nearly new to the KODI Add-on development, but I wrote an Add-on in the last few days and it's working pretty good.
Now I want to add a webinterface to control the Add-on and/or give some input into the Add-on via webinterface (1. step) and via iOS-App (2. step).
I have something like the Hyperion-App for iOS in mind. Has someone realized this? Is there a easy possibility to do this in KODI Add-ons?
Thanks.

Remote share: Path not found or invalid, although Kodi v.19 SMB-network shares are ok
Hello,
I have Kodi version 19 installed om my Xgody media player with Android TV v.10.
The last weeks Kodi has a problem with connecting to my NAS devices, such as: Netgear Ready-NAS 102 (OS version 6.10.4) and a network-drive connected to my Access Point (newest firmware).
I have made SMB-network connections in Kodi via Home screen | Settings | File manager: Add file source | Add network location.
In Kodi v.18 I already had SMB-shares to my Music folders 'via Server Names'. These connections still work in Kodi 19 File manager.
In Kodi 19, I also made new SMB-shares 'via IP address' to the same locations. They also work in Kodi 19, but only through the File manager.
I navigate through Kodi on my TV by means of the devices: either a Remote Control or via a mouse.
But:
When I try to approach my network shares in Kodi v19 via Home screen | Music | Files, I get a popup with the error message:
'Remote share: Path not found or invalid'.
And when I try the navigation route: Home screen | Music | Sources, I only see my old shares (SMB by Server Name), not my newly made IP-shares.
When I click on such an (old) Source, again I get the error message 'Remote share: Path not found or invalid'.
In Kodi v.19, I set SMB version Min to v.1 and Max to v.3, but this does not solve the problem.
Of course, I can start up music-files via the Kodi File Manager, but it has 2 flaws:
a) When I activate an MP3 file, I want to see the full-screen display with the accompanying mp3-tags, album cover and play-controls, as I was used to in Kodi v.18 .
(The only flaw is that the screen dims very quickly, as if Kodi is running on a smartphone, instead of on a TV.)
Now in Kodi 19, I have a hard time (backspace, backspace etc.) finding the Play Music-screen.
b) I can only start one music-file at a time.
Previously, I could go to my NAS-music folder with many subfolders containing thousands of mp3-files.
Then I could right-click on the upper level folder and choose the option: Play. Thereby I could set 'Play in random order'.
This way, I could listen for hours without getting bored, and read mp3-tags (name of song, singer, album, year etc.).
I could see the album cover, and even read possible lyrics and so on.
I miss all these features now in Kodi v.19, because I cannot reach my NAS-shares, via the standard Music navigation path.
How can I overcome the localized problem 'Remote share: Path not found or invalid'?
Is it possible to make a Play-button/icon or Play-link in Kodi that will show up in every screen-page / window within Kodi?
So regardless of how many pages deep one has clicked to fine-tune certain features, you should be able to jump back to the full screen Play Music (or Video) with 1 click.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Shuffle with metadata
Hi curious question. Been using Kodi for years to access media from a server. But i am trying to setup a "shuffle channel" for the house. I did figure it goes to play movies and shuffle, but is there a way to make it display the name of the movie and or the Metadata? I also use Plex so we are trying that, in between movies there is a 10 second countdown while also displaying the movie and Metadata. Is there a similar way to do it with Kodi?

ODROID vs UGOOS Quality and Reliability
I've been looking into an inexpensive but quality box to act as a dedicated Tvheadend server for a while now. It's probably either going to be a UGOOS X3 Cube or an ODROID C4 running CoreELEC.
I was leaning towards a C4 but they are a little more expensive and appear to require more effort since they are a "build your own"; and they are currently out of stock. And, I've seen some posts from people with hardware failures.
The X3 has Dual Boot firmware for CoreELEC and appears to have more support and a better warranty. I'm thinking it might be a better fit for my use.
I'm looking for input on any difference in quality and reliability between UGOOS and ODROID since this is the main reason I'm considering going to a separate box as a Tvheadend server.
Also, why did the "START HERE - Pick the right Kodi box" thread get closed?

Shield 2019 Pro Crashes
Log file
https://paste.kodi.tv/qijuhitaya
I recently moved from a Mi TV box to a Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 and I'm getting a strange issue. When watching videos it randomly stops. Can be 1 min into the video or can run for 30 mins then stop. I guess I have a setting wrong somewhere but not sure what. I kinda remember some issue with audio but that was back in the days of Xbmc....
All data is local on a Unraid server
WiFi connection
Denon AV amp
Hisense TV
Any help as I briefly flirted with Plex and hated it.... Please don't judge me too harshly

Unable to play media from shared library after changing router
I've got a Synology NAS on which I have a MariaDB setup in order to store my Kodi library which is shared amongst a few Fire TV devices around the house. This has been working flawlessly for years now.
My ISP changed today, which involved getting a new router (Sky Q hub). The first problem was that I had had to change the static IP address assigned to my Synology NAS (from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.0.100). After doing that, I realised I had to edit my sources.xml and advancedsettings.xml to point to the new IP address. I've attached what these files look like at the end of this post.
After clearing cache/data on the Kodi application on the FireTV stick, I fired up Kodi, copied the two xml files into the userdata folder, restarted Kodi, and huzzah, all my media is visible! It's retrieved all movies/tv shows, artwork, elapsed time, the lot. Everything looks great. HOWEVER, when I click on something to watch it, the system just hangs on the spinner icon until I force quit.
Strangely, if I choose to watch something through the Videos > Files section in Kodi, it plays fine, so Kodi can access the media file itself, it just doesn't seem to like it when I play it via the Movies/TV Show section. I'm guessing it's trying (and failing) to read/write something to MariaDB when I try and play it through the media sections, but I don't know what it could be. Any ideas?
The only thing that has changed in my setup is the new router, and as a result the static IP address of the NAS box. Could it be port forwarding related? The NAS is wired to router so is on the same LAN. I'm not sure if this requires ports to be opened, but I tried just in case but still no luck. I'm not that savvy with networking so I may have done something wrong on this step. Screenshot of the rules below.
Thanks for any help.

Has Kodi been infiltrated by University of Minnesota hacks?
I was reading the thread on the University of Minnesota and their unethical experiments with submitting broken or malicious patches to the Linux kernel, when I noticed that someone mentioned an article about the subject said they had done this to both Linux the kernel and to other open source projects. Unfortunately the article does not list these other open source projects and as it seems that this was part of an ongoing bit of research they have yet to report on which other projects they had begun to experiment on. So I wanted to bring this up to the developers here and would have posted the question in the developers' section but since it is clear that it is intended for programmers only and I am not one I didn't want to start out by stepping on any toes.
I would just like to ask if there is a way to check who contributed what from where and if a cursory check has been done to see if any bad actors might have slipped in? I understand this is a complex issue and it is unlikely to be as simple as simply checking for University of Minnesota .edu email addresses, especially since some of the patches reported originally were submitted under anonymous emails according to the original paper submitted on the experiments last year. But I would like to know if our developers are aware of the situation and if we are checking against it.
Thanks, and hopefully this is simply paranoia and nothing to be concerned about.

SQL Database unable to play files
Hi all,
I've recently installed and started using a SQL database with Kodi, everything seemed to go well in regards to setting it up.
I have copied the advancedsettings.xml file to another Kodi client/computer, and upon starting Kodi can see the entire database of films & TV shows and music listed and everything syncs between databases (in progress movies etc) - but there is no cover art for any of them (except in sets) and I'm unable to actually play the files.
Either "playback failed" or "the file is no longer available and would I like to remove it" pops up.
I've managed to add the exact same files (films, tv shows) using videos -> files -> add videos -> browse -> add network location ----------- and this is working fine (cover art showing and they all play with no problems). So I'm assuming that the files have been shared correctly on the main computer (where the SQL database is also set up), plus I now have passwords.xml with the necessary info in the Kodi userdata folder.
Unfortunately I'm unable to post the logs as away from home for the moment.
However if anyone has any help or advice please it would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

SAMPLE file available for replicating Kodi crash when browsing directory!
Below is a link to a small SAMPLE FILE file which causes my system to crash.
I hope it may help others to reproduce this problem and create Kodi logs, etc.
I would be happy to help by providing more video files if helpful in the future.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Kodi crashes when entering a directory with certain ‘problematic’ files included.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download the following ‘problematic’ SAMPLE FILE :
This 4MB SAMPLE video file causes Kodi 19.0 to crash
https://anonymousfiles.io/ktIRKFD2/
[ FILENAME = get_video-video_id=fMM5Rcseyqk.flv ]
2. Copy SAMPLE file into a directory accessible by your Kodi video library setup.
3. Launch Kodi and navigate to where the SAMPLE file is located
EXPECTED RESULT
Kodi should display a list of files in the directory, without issues.
MY RESULT
Kodi will “quit unexpectedly”.
VLC does not have this problem I have played this video on my system with VLC and it works fine.
MY CONFIG
> Mac OS X 10.14.6.
> Stable Kodi v19.0 Matrix [Downloaded 2021.04.21]
[ This problem was also reproduced on prior beta versions of Kodi 19.0 ]
> Very few addons beyond those from Team Kodi:
NPR, Aerial, Google Earth and a few others that I don’t know what they do…
MY TROUBLESHOOTING
> I changed file name to x. No change. Still crashes.
> I change file extension from .mpg to .mpg.avi. No change.
> I changed problem file in alphabetical directory order by adding good files before or after the problem file in the directory name sort. No change.
> I moved the file from location on a smb shared directory to a local directory.
No change: Kodi still crashes when navigating to the local directory on MacOS “Downloads” folder.
> I disabled "Extract thumbnails from video files" in Kodi settings and restarted Kodi. No change. Still crashes.
> I deleted many addons. No change. Kodi still crashes.
NOTE:
I began discussing this under the topic:
> Kodi crashes when attempting to browse directory with videos of “multiplexed MPEG-1/2” files.
However the above title has been found to be misleading, so I won’t post any more info there.

Clone profile on same device - advice please
I have a Pi4 with LibreElec installed and have configured my master profile exactly how I wish all profiles to be setup. I want to now create a load of separate profiles so that each member of the house has one but doing it all manually on the Kodi interface is probably going to break me as I didn't realise I would have to set every single addon up all over again. If I do the initial profile creation and tell it to copy defaults from the master profile, I assume I need to then manually copy over certain portions of the master profile userdata folder to the new user profile folder. I have taken a look at the wiki for the details behind the userdata folder but wanted to confirm before I go and make a mess of things.
Is that as simple as copying over:
~/.kodi/userdata/addon_data
~/.kodi/userdata/advancedsettings.xml (with tweaks)
~/.kodi/userdata/RssFeeds.xml
And do I need anything from:
~/.kodi/userdata/Database
I have 8 profiles to create this way, hence being able to just effectively clone the master profile and tweak some bits in advancedsettings.xml to have it pick up the correct mysql database for that user would be such a better option for me. Thank you for any advice.
