Kodi 19 is it just me?

Hi all

Is it just me or has Kodi 19 completely RUINED my Kodi experience.

I was running 18.9 and as usual I thought I had disabled auto updates, but I must have missed one as it decided to update to 19 again over night and I just spent an hour rolling it back to a WORKING version of this app. 18.9

SMB does not work on 19 properly. And even if some do get it working it has issues.

When it asked me for user creds what is it asking me for a username and a password for? I have a network share . The pc it is on had no login creds. So What is it asking me for! Username and password? What username and password? Anyone?

I have used Kodi for years without issue and Kodi 19 has to be the worst upgrade I have ever seen.......period.

I am not alone in my thoughts I know. Many have complained about it , but nothing has been done about it that I can see so everyone is rolling back to 18.9 and hoping and praying it does not auto update again.

What happened Kodi? Who made this decision and why? Why break what was not broken is my question?

Now you have RUINED my evening and wasted my time for the third time in 2 months, I will hope to watch some media on a the only version that actually accepts SMB shares without asking for usernames and passwords.

I am an extremely unhappy camper with whomever upgraded this app to 19 and in my opinion FAILED miserably in rolling out a working version.

PLEASE Kodi...........FIX the issues..............I implore you.

Thanks

Change the name of my hard drive in the database

Hello,

I have a very large database and I changed my hard drive, but I have to change the name of the hard drive.

So, if I change the name, all the paths of the files in the database will be wrong, so I have to redo all the scrapes of the movies, series, etc.

How can I simply change the name of all the paths in my database?

Kodi and video tag "Durationinseconds"?

$

Hello,

Kodi 17.6, MYSQL database

I seem to be having a problem with the the tag "Durationinseconds" in my nfo files and was hoping for some clarification.

One of the Addons I use (PTV) needs the "Durationinseconds" tag to work properly. I created a smart playlist using "episodes" and 'Duration is 0" to check on my video files and found that over 24,000 of my files did not have a "durationinseconds".

I use Sonarr and Radarr in my setup. I had been letting both of those programs retrieve the meta data and produce the nfo files to add to my video library. I then had Kodi scrape using local nfo files. This seemed to work perfectly until discovering that Kodi was not picking up the "Durationinseconds" at all from the Sonarr/Radarr nfo files. I am guessing that the reason is that the nfo files they produce have the "Durationinseconds" tag as a decimal number i.e. 4123.12456. I don't think that Kodi can handle decimals.

I then changed Kodi to go out and scrape the meta data without local nfo files. The result was the same, The file was added to my database but without the "Durationinseconds" tag as proven by the smart playlist.

The fix was to start using a supplemental tool like Ember Media manager. The nfo files it produces have the properly formatted "Durationinseconds" tag (without a decimal point) and Kodi picks it up fine. I would rather not have to use EMM in my setup if possible.

Is there a setting somewhere within Kodi to get it to accept the tag with decimal type number? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Episode Images Not Scraping for Certain Shows?

$

I've scraped about 60 shows so far and just recently ran into this. Episode posters for certain shows aren't being grabbed from TVDb, despite definitely existing there. For example: Seinfeld won't grab images, but Curb Your Enthusiasm is fine. GI Joe (1983) won't, but Transformers (1984) will.  Pretty weird.  Is this just related to the API craziness with TVDb?

Edit to add: all other metadata scrapes fine for these shows, from actors to plot to show/season images.

Kodi 19 won't load external subtitles

Hello there.

Can anyone can help me understand the subtitles changes from v18 to v19?

In my case, all my subtitles ares external and in Pt-BR language but when I download they always come with the same filename of the video, only the extension is different.

For example:

Your.Honor.US.S01E01.Part.One.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.264-NTb.mkv
Your.Honor.US.S01E01.Part.One.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.264-NTb.srt

On Kodi 18, when I load the video it always enable the Subtitle, since it has the same filename of the video. On Kodi 19, this does not happen. I have to enable every time and the option to "Save as Default to all media" does not seem to work. When I open another video, the subtitle option comes disabled again.

I use the Emby Addon to sync the library with my Emby Server.

Thanks.

Music - Play or Queue?

In the Music section, clicking Play on an album starts playback on that album and loads the album into the playlist.  Then clicking Play on another album starts playback on that album and *appends* that album to the playlist.  This is not the behaviour I was expecting from Play.  That would be the behaviour I would expect from Queue.  What is going on here?

Kodi 19 Matrix and stream from cloud results in freezing/crashing

Has anyone else experienced this with cloud provider Premiumize (my sample log file has no illegal use or addons) or any other cloud provider?
Basically from any add-on or even WebDAV the streaming video will start as per normal and within about 5-10 seconds freeze and crash Kodi 19.
No issues on Kodi 18.9.
No issues playing something from local drive.
Also no issues if I use an external player with Kodi 19.

So I am thinking Kodi's internal video player in Kodi 19 and Premiumize are not talking well at the moment.
Thoughts?
I'm using Windows 10 - here is my log with a WebDAV streaming example -> Log

Doesn't matter which version I use. Happens with subs on or off on Shield Pro. Same videos play fine in Plex, VLC, and Infuse on Apple 4k. Am I missing a setting?

Kodi and Ubuntu 20.10 on Raspi Pi 4

Who can tell me if Kodi can be installed on a Pi 4 under Ubuntu 20.10? In the official wiki (HOW-TO:Install Kodi for Linux) I found the following note: "Note that this PPA only provides builds for Ubuntu i386 and Ubuntu amd64 but not for Ubuntu armhf, which can run on a Raspberry Pi." I guess this settles the issue of Kodi on the Pi4 under Ubuntu, doesn't it?

Arch ARM binary installation --> IAGL

hi there,

I'm trying to get running the IAGL for the Raspberry Pi 4b. There is a dependency problem; it can't find vfs and libarchive.vfs (not included in the reops). I found a plugin to be built on arch for the basic vfs support but I do not know how to satisfy the libarchive.vfs dependencies - the one in the repo is for Leia and I'm using Matrix 19.0.8 on arch here.

I built from xbmc the necessary library, everything fine but it starts with not compressing it into a zip file; I guess it is just for those, who build kodi from scratch. Zach Morris gave me two links for the missing .zip-file, but both didn't work (wrong structure of .zip). I tried to convert the debian package but on installation it asks for the debian-built of the whole kodi-api (a virtual system included in the kodi main program).

So, what to do: I found the solution for one dependency but I don't know how to fulfill the other one (libarchive.vfs).

Can anyone help?

TV Shows in different resolutions

Hey guys!

I was wondering what the best naming solution would be if i'd like to have multiple tv shows in different resolutions.

For example: for some time i got Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad in my archive, both in 1080p resolution. But now, i've added those two shows in 2160p as well. So far so good but all episode, 1080p and 2160p, show up in one tv show folder in Kodi. This behavior kinda sucks. My solution for now is to exclude the 1080p folder by creating a .nomedia file, this was quick and very dirty. I would like to keep both resolutions in archive, for now at least.

In Kodi it looks like this (there is no 1080p or 2160p in file names):

Breaking Bad -> Season 1 -> S01E01.mkv (1080p)
Breaking Bad -> Season 1 -> S01E01.mkv (2160p)

Same for Game of Thrones. The file structure on my server looks like this:

/media/tv shows/b/Breaking Bad (2008) [1080p]/season 1/s01e01.mkv
/media/tv shows/b/Breaking Bad (2008) [2160p]/season 1/s01e01.mkv

Am i doing something wrong? It works for movies though.

Thanks!

FireTV + Kodi: Switch between 2.0 and 5.1 breaks sounds

Hello together,

i recently switched from my old firetv (gen2) + Kodi 18.x to the newest firetv cube with kodi 19 installed.
after some problems with audio passthrough at beginning i fixed it switch output device to RAW.

but now i have some other weird problems. with kodi i stream video files from my NAS (some are SD 2.0, others SD 5.1 oder HD 5.1).
When i fresh start my AVR (Onkyo SR-TX333) in 5.1 system all works as i want:
> play 2.0 file: sound on all boxes (include rear boxes) (with new FireTV D+ is beeing played)
> play 5.1 file: 5.1 sound (with new FireTV D+ is beeing played)

the problem comes now, when i play 2.0 first and then 5.1 or other way:
> 5.1 switch to 2.0: Only Sound on front boxes, Onkyo displays PCM Audio
> 2.0 switch to 5.1: The onkyo AVR is clicking (like a relay click) every 1-2 seconds (normally it clicks 1 time after changing input). One time with sound till next click, then no sound till next click and again sound till next click.

When i restart my Onkyo it works again till i change the Files with different audio streams.
Another thing: before restarting the AVR my Output Devices in Kodi (set to RAW) are greyed out then. When i restart AVR (or even without, i would have to test) but when i force stop Kodi on Firetv and restart its not greyed out any more

My settings at the moment are:
FireTV Sound: DD+
Kodi:
> Output Device: RAW
> Number Channels: 5.1
> Output Config: Optimize
> Allow Passthrough: ON
> Passthrough Outout: RAW (greyed out)
> Dolby Digital: ON
> DTS: OFF
> DTS-HD: OFF

i never had this problem. i was using the old firetv with several kodi versions till 18.x for several years without any problems.

Maybe you can help me out, rly annoying Smile

Rocket Lake (RKL) discussion

Hi everybody,

I recently bought a Core i5-11500 aka Rocket Lake CPU with a Z590 Mainboard (to be mor specific: ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-I GAMING WIFI).
My current setup is listed in my signature. My plan was to take my nvme ssd and put it into the new mainboard........

First problem I stumbled upon, with an integrated graphics card, the Z590 chipset doesn't allow you to run legacy mode, csm as ASUS calls it.
So I grabbed gparted and freed some space for an EFI partition and installed what was necessary (took me a little while).
After that was successful I fired up the new setup and the result was "default" display with a resolution of 1024x768....

With the help of some google-fu I found out that the drivers are net active from the scratch
You have to enable the graphics card with it's ID via modprobe (I also saw an ID of 4c8b):
Code:
options i915 force_probe=4c8a

With that I had my 4k@60
BUT, no hardware acceleration enabled. Also one weird thing, my mceIR didn't work properly anymore.

Maybe it was too early to hope it would work Big Grin

So I put my ssd into my current system back and everything was back to normal and kickin.
I will try a fresh install of Ubuntu 20 or maybe 21 (not sure for now).

Did anybody else tried out firing up a RocketLake on Ubuntu?
I thought it would be nice to have a thread to discuss findings and ideas Angel

Hello guys,

I upgraded Kodi Leia to Matrix on Ubuntu 20.04. All ran fine until yesterday.
Suddently, I had no sound running Kodi with ALSA.

Code:
pasuspender -- env KODI_AE_SINK=ALSA kodi
as in Leia.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Kodi, and removed ~/.kodi directory, but nothing to do.

Here is my Kodi log.

Hope someone could help, please.

listitem.setProperty impacting listitem.setInfo for music

$

I have an addon which is displaying list items for video and music.  Up till now I didn't have a bookmark / resume time feature for music / songs passed to my Kodi addon, even though the bookmark information was available from the source.  I've always had it for video files and it's worked fine.  I decided to add the listitem.setProperty ResumeTime command for music and when I did it worked by adding a resume time option to the listitem context menu but it wiped out displaying the listitem.setInfo from being displayed in the skin.  I tested this for both Confluence and Estuary and both skins do the same thing so this looks more like a Kodi issue.

Here's the code:
                elif mediaClass_text == 'music':
                    li.addContextMenuItems([ (addon.getLocalizedString(30347), 'Container.Refresh'), \
                    (addon.getLocalizedString(30346), 'Action(ParentDir)') ])
                    info = {
                        'duration': getSeconds(duration_text),
                        'genre': genre_text,
                        'year': release_year_text,
                        'title': title,
                        'artist': artist_text.split(','),
                        'rating': rating_val,
                        'discnumber': season_text,
                        'mediatype': 'song',
                        'tracknumber': episode_text,
                        'album': album_text,
                        'playcount': playcount,
                        'lastplayed': last_played_text,
                    }
                    li.setInfo(mediaClass_text, info)
                    li.setProperty('ResumeTime', dcmInfo_text)

With the li.setProperty('ResumeTime', dcmInfo_text) line commented out I get a normal view with all the info:

Image

If I uncomment the li.setProperty('ResumeTime', dcmInfo_text) line I get this:

Image

You can see all of the setInfo data is now missing but the bookmark icons appear on the items.  I have tested this on both versions of my addon for Kodi 18 and Kodi 19.  The results are identical.

There is no "Sync playback to display" option in my Kodi

Hello, I use Kodi on a rockchip box Rock64, and I want to speed the video playback. I have read Settings/Player/Videos - Official Kodi Wiki, but there is no "Sync playback to display" option in my kodi Settings-Player-Videos page, I tried kodi in libreelec/lakka/recalbox, version 18.6 and 19.x, all same occurance.
I wonder is my luck so bad that all versions I tried are compiled without some features or I miss something?

Unable to play to UPnP player

I had made a post here https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=361997 in the Android forum and thought the issue was an add-on I was using. However, I installed Kodi 18.5 on my NAS with no add-ons and I am having the exact same issue. When I try playing to a UPnP player on my network Kodi "fails to find a matching resource". See line 967 in my debug log https://paste.kodi.tv/powewuhofa.kodi

The exact same file plays fine with the internal player. I've tried multiple versions on various devices all of them report this error.

converting dts to pcm 5.1?

$

i started to use Kodi on my new nvidia shield tv pro.    since i have horrible lip sync issues with my LG BX and receiver i had to use earc to fix this.  Fixing the lip sync created another problem... i have no support for dts  since the BX does not offer dts passthrough.

my uhd player and other devices convert the several dts versions to pcm 5.1.  on the other hand, Kodi transforms the dts tracks to  DD + DD surround according to the display of my marantz receiver.

- should i bother and try to get pcm 5.1 instead of dolby digital to replace the original dts tracks?

- if so how should i change this?   in the shield auto settings for available formats dts and dts-hd are deselected.  In Kodi I had to deselect dts and dts-hd capable reciever or I did get an error message that there was not support.

- is there a way to only chance the dts tracks to pcm and have the other audio (DD, Atmos) in its original form? (so like they are now)

thanks for your help!

ps: on other forums people have told me to not use earc, to connect the shield directly to my receiver so i have the "normal dts" but it's not an option with the lip sync crap
