Android - Android TV box

I'm trying to set up an External Player as I have a R-Box 4K which had a fork of 16.1 (RKMC) with hardware acceleration for the rock chip. With the proper Kodi versions 17+ installed the video is choppy/sound lags etc. Hence I'm now trying to use something like VLC media player or MX Player Free with the latest 18.2 Leia version.

Have created the playercorefactory.xml in the userdata folder as per HOW-TO:Use_external_players_on_Android (wiki) and when I try to play a video file I get the box saying "External Player Active - Click "ok" when playback has ended" with the "OK" button but what do I do then?? Is the external player supposed to open up and play the video automatically because it's not. Nothing happens! If I click "OK" in the "External Player Active" box it just goes back to the screen showing the file I was trying to play.

If I select "Play using..." from the centext menu the same thing happens. The only one that plays the file is the one called "VideoPlayer" which I assume is the inbuilt kodi player(?) - this is the one that's choppy on my R-Box hence I'm trying to use an external player instead as playing the video files through mx player/VLC media player are fine.

Why can't I get the external player to launch? I have MX Player free and VLC player installed. I've also restarted my device.

Hello,
I'm having hard times getting the correct picture for movies for some time now.
I'm using mpc-hc for reference - it has perfect picture.
I would really appreciate any kodi expert's help.
Background:
I'm using my pc with a monitor daily, and when I want to watch a movie, I extend to the TV and open the kodi on my TV (with blank other display turned on).
My TV is 16-235, so I use the correct setup: nvidia full RGB and kodi 16-235.

The problem:
I've found out you can get many pictures with this exact setup by messing out within kodi. whatever picture you managed to get, kodi remembers it and it will stick to it every time you open kodi, until something messes it up after a long while (not sure what).
I've managed to get 3 pictures:
1. too dim picture - usually if I just toggle the "use 16-235" few times.
2. too washed out image - by changing in nvidia to limited, going to kodi change to "full" and then changing in nvidia to full again, and change to 16-235 in kodi.
3. too saturated image - after getting image number 2, change to screen one, toggle the 16-235 once and then go back to screen 2 (the TV)

all 3 pictures shows correct black shadows in the apl test from avs hd, but I can't seem to get to the correct image (like mpc-hc which is perfect - not too yellowish, not too saturated, not too dim).

Is there a way to get kodi to default but with 16-235 option turned on?

Bug - Upon video finish (any add-on!), Kodi UI is broken

Kodi Version: Leia 18.2 (as an optional add-on for RetroPie, under Ports)

So when a video finishes playing, (under any add-on, even youtube), I am brought back to the UI for Kodi, but it is zoomed WAY in.  I can navigate blindly but I haven't memorized the menu so I can't exit and have to force a power-down.

What is strange is if I enable debug logging, it will not have this bug! It operates perfectly as long as I don't mind all that debug text on my screen while watching things.  That made it tricky trying to get a log for this error.  Well I saw someone somewhere saying you can set an advancedsettings.xml option to drop a log without the display, and I was able to get a log that way. (unless it's always logging, I dunno)

Hey folks,

this is my first post so please bear with me if i have overseen something or might ask stupid questions.
I´m using this forum as i wanna raise a question if my intended project is even possible.

I´m absolutely sick of using vodafones crap, slow and crashing media receiver anymore. This stupid piece of junk is more often not even starting anymore, clearing my channels list and so on and so forth. 

As i´m also working in IT as most of you i guess, of course we wanna have something nice and shiny and something where i´m in full control of ;-)

Therefore, i want to build the following, thats at least my target.

- home build media receiver which i can use for live tv, radio, recording, connections to my nas, control via mobilephone, remote and other stuff!

Unfortunately, i haven´t been in touch with those television tech stuff before, so i probably do have a lack of knowledge in those areas!
Basically, i think installing the software is not a problem. My questions is more about getting the tv signal into the linux kodi box. I´m not intending to use a Rasperry PI, i further wanna probably build a small home server which is replacing my media receive which has probably a 4TB HDD in.

What i know is that my HD + channels, like RTL HD, Pro7 HD, ... are encrypted. Therefore i have to use a smartcard in my current media receiver to decrypt this signal. Is it possible that i can somehow use this card in my home build server in order to decrypt my channels there too?
Unfortunately i have no clue which kind of smartcard i have, i assume i do have just the regular standard vodafone smartcard!

Would you please mind to share a few information and/or experiences in regards to my plan? Probably i can avoid time-consuming research if my project is not even possible due to limitations of the provider and or hardware.

v18 - HTTP remote not working over *second* local area network/IP in Leia UWP!

Hi,
I have 2 kodi installs currently, one UWP v18 and the other non-UWP v17 (I'm testing the UWP currently).
My system is connected to multiple local area networks over wireless and I use my remote over a low latency secondary network and local IP (Using a HOTSPOT on Win10).
This system works perfectly on v17 Krypton, non-UWP build but fails to work on v18 UWP.
I have tested my remote by connecting to the primary local IP and network and it worked: the issue lies with the UWP not communicating over my second network somehow.

Is this a known issue with the current Microsoft Store version? Is it fixable?

TMM won't scrape from themoviedb.org german

Hi there,
I have the following issue:
TMM - Version 2.9.17.1 won't scrape german movie results from themoviedb.org
First there is no result at all - after searching again I get the english result.
Also no Covers and Fanarts are found so I have to add them manually from the website.
I didn't change the settings - I have this issue since Version 2.19.

Any Ideas or help?

Bug - Database corruption

I have been successfully running Kodi on my RPi however whenever i scan my music folders the database gets created with about 90% of songs correctly but the remaining songs are listed under 'Zero 7' (which happens to be the last artist/subfolder in the directory). I have deleted and rebuilt the database many times and checked all of the ID3 tags. If i look in the database file directly it is definitely incorrect in there and there are far too many to update them manually. Any suggestions for the cause of this/solutions?

Hi all. Apologies in advance if this isn't the most suitable bit of the forum. Suggestions for a better spot gratefully received.

I'm playing around with Xbian / Kodi Leia on a Pi 3B+. My objective is to make it as disposable as possible, so I'm scripting as much of the setup as I possibly can.

The general idea is to be able to re-flash the SD with a clean image of Xbain, log on, copy some scripts in from a flashdrive and run them and hey presto! Everything is set up just the way I like it.

Configuring the Xbain / OS side of this has been a doddle. All scripted and disposable. Now I'm looking for some idea how to tackle Kodi. I'm exporting and importing the media libraries between resets, so that's good, but are there any really good ways to configure Kodi from a bash script? For example, adding a media source, setting the content type and associating it with (for example) the MovieDB? Also, doing things like dropping "Music Videos" from the front menu, automating the screen calibration settings, etc?

I've had a dig around and it looks like there are only a few fairly sparse .xml's, so I'm guessing most of the config is in the database? Or I'm missing the location of a lot of the config files? Also, the only interfaces I've found so far are JSON-RPC that's a bit mind-boggling and might not do what I want to do anyway.

I'm really looking for something like a command line tool that works something like:
kodi-config -addsource /media/foo/films -content movies -scraper themoviedb
kodi-config -screencalibration -x1 5.2 -y1 3.8  -x2 -4 -y2 -3.7

Something of that nature? Or some docs for something like database stored procedures and parameters if it's something that can be set via sql.

Any help achieving my objective would be very welcome.

Channel Group and channel ordering issues with v19 Leia

Hello, I've encountered an issue with the new Leia release concerning Channel order in user created Channel Groups.
Background: I'm using a Mythtv backend for TV via satellite. been using mythtv for 8 yrs or so - familiar with it - have no problems but recently have started using it with the UK Freesat serveice (as I'm in france...) Clearly there are hundreds of channels but having hidden all those I'm not interested in - the channel order from backend is broadcast channel id  (NOT Freesat order from Freesat Box). It's a pain to change; gets lost on each channel rescan; a script can be done but I'm ot a Mysql guru..

Issue: I now use Kodi frontends - easier for my wife to manage especially with four tuner cards involved. In v18 Krypton I disabled all channel group and order synchronisation with backend. I created two Channel groups TV and Radio; allocated the channels - these appear in the lists in the order selected at time of adding to group which is what I want.
However on updating to v19 Leia; the same actions cause channels to be added to the created group in seemingly random order which is irritating to say the least as the whole point of doing this is to er... have them in the order I want

Tried this on kodi over Linux; LibreELEC and Android installs on various machines and problem is the same (not tried on Windows machine as I have had none since 1996...)

Has anyone else noticed this?
Any clues to the problem - bug?

I have my own little repository to small project that we do while doing most by scripts/manual I just scratch my head while don't knowing answers to those question:
1) should I updated repository version whenever I update any plugin/addon inside it ?
2) If the answer for first question is 'NO' then when is good time to update it ?

Finally a PVR for freebox owners, it's complete, very easy (works without config) and out of beta now, it has been submitted to Kodi repo. But right now it's available for android & linux (v18 required and freebox revolution, V5 or mini4k with TV option required, works only on local network)
Free is a major ISP in france, very innovative and cheap, they are offering for years IPTV along their box, called multiposte, but with something more : as major french TV channels refused to be available on IPTV, free is allowing to be plugged on DVB-T antenna, called TNT,  and put it fully on IPTV, providing a complete and free local iptv.
This plugin is finally offering a full and easy TV support for kodi 18 on all french Free subscribers, that includes very fast and complete EPG+logos, provided directly from Free ISP, and full recording optons, remotely on the powerful freebox internal recording system.

Win - "Unable to create GUI" - Using a VM. Already tried changing resolution / windowed.

Latest version of KODI.
Windows 7, 64 Bits.
It's a VM on XenServer, if that's relevant.
Tried changing resolutions. Tried opening in Windowed mode. Tried updating drivers.
Still error.

v18 - Difference between the source and what I have in the folder

Hello everyone,

I set the addition of source for my series.

I set for the moviedb.

Until then, everything is fine, I have the images, the summaries. okay

By cons certain series or seasons do not appear in the addition of source while they are on the hard drive in the folder that I configured.

How to make all the files, episodes, seasons appear good even if there is no information from themoviedb.

I have this problem on a windows pc and also on a raspberry.

Plex addon - Won't go to next episode after first ends

I've used Plex for a long time. I recently got an android box, added Kodi, then went to the Kodi repo and added plex. It works great but the OSD (on screen display, on Plex, while video is playing) is where I'm having issues. Example: if a tv episode is playing, I can fast forward, rewind, stop, pause. But when I select loop all or loop 1, it just flat out doesn't work. It just goes back to the Plex countdown for next video, which only works for a limited time. On the OSD, the loop all or loop 1 should totally bypass the Plex next video countdown and just move onto the next video like it does on Roku, but it doesn't work. I've tried every Kodi setting (even in the Kodi Player settings) to play next video but that does nothing where Plex is concerned. Please, someone, help

Kodi Leia 18 keeps crashing on startup, #2

I have had Leia installed for several months now, and it has been running fine.

My Windows 10 PC restarted after an update, and now Kodi doesn't launch. It tries. The screen resolution was changed by windows to 1920x1080, so I can't see the Maximize and Minimize buttons on the window anymore because it's just HUGE. Irritating. Thank you, Microsoft.

v18 - Video Add-ons for Japanese Kiddie Cartoons

Are there any video add-ons that will allow me to watch Japanese cartoons aimed at small children?  I know there are plenty of anime add-ons but the content tends to be aimed at teens and older viewers.  I have two very young daughters who are half Japanese.  I would like to show them shows such as Anpanman, Doraemon and Sazae San which are much more appropriate for their age.  I'd like them in their native Japanese language if possible rather than English dubs because I want to give them exposure to the Japanese language.

Any recommendations?  I've looked but I can't seem to find any add-ons whose content includes those kind of shows.

On a similar note, are there any recommended add-ons for watching Studio Ghibli movies?  Again, in native Japanese (with subtitles would be great) rather than English dubbed if possible.

Hello.  I'd like to watch live Japanese TV channels (e.g. NHK, Fuji TV etc)  with the IPTV simple client if possible but I'm a complete novice with Kodi so would like some guidance if possible.  Can anybody help me by explaining how to set up the client and configure it to watch Japanese TV?

I'm a little confused about some of the terminology such as 'm3u playlist' and how/where to find one for Japanese TV channels.

Is it actually possible to watch Japanese TV this way?

Are the any skins that are really good for EPG/PVR users?  I would love to have one that shows each channel as 2 rows.  Where the first row includes the show name  and badges like "New" or "Live"  and the second row shows things like SxEx naming or episode name.   Color coded EPG would be nice too.  (at least better color coding that what Kodi does already)
