[split] DTS-HD or TrueHD issues

Sorry if this has been reported already. I've recently noticed that whenever I start a DTS-HD or TrueHD mkv movie in Kodi recently, I get no sound or my receiver bitstreams PCM. To fix it, I have to pull up the settings menu while playing, turn off pass through, and then turn it back on or switch between whatever audio options I have and go back to the original. Only then will Truehd or DTS-HD get bitstreamed. By the way this only happens when refresh rate (24p, etc.)  is on.

Brightness off just with 4K videos

Hello,
this has happened for at least six months, before I got Kodi 18, but with my 4K videos I have it seems way too bright!  I think it's the video decoder as it seems just fine with, say a 1080p video file(I THINK it uses a different decoder for the different files).  I am getting both of these off a USB drive I have plugged in.  Video seems to play fine EXCEPT the brightness in the 4K file.  It doesn't seem to be not enough power to handle it, just the brightness is off!!  I think I tried adjusting the colors/brightness a while ago and COULD NOT get them correct AT ALL!!  This is using whatever default player Kodi 18 has.  HELP please!!! Automatic scraping library daily

Hey guys,

I'm currently running TMM in a docker image. I would like to be able to automate the library update and scraping. For this I have a cron job calling following script:
Quote:#!/bin/bash
docker exec tinymediamanager /tinyMediaManager/tinyMediaManagerCMD.sh -update -scrapeNew

My problem now is that I'm getting an error unless I'm closing the web GUI of TMM, but then I can't use the web to check the status, new movies etc.
Quote:ERROR [headless] o.t.core.movie.MovieModuleManager:94 - Error in the background thread of the persistent cache
java.lang.IllegalStateException: The file is locked: nio:data/movies.db [1.4.191/7]
at org.h2.mvstore.DataUtils.newIllegalStateException(DataUtils.java:773)
Is there a way to fix that? I don't want to run TMM manually every day.

thanks a lot.

Hi,

I try to configure the hosts section in the advancedsettings.xml file, but the entry is never working.  I have try with FQDN entry to use it with HTTP Network Location and a simple name to use with SMB, but nothing is working.

Here is my advancedsettings file:

<advancedsettings>
  <videodatabase>
    <type>mysql</type>
    <host>192.168.1.xx</host>
    <port>3306</port>
    <user>kodi</user>
    <pass>*********</pass>
 <name>kodi_http_bd</name>
  </videodatabase>
  <videolibrary>
    <importwatchedstate>true</importwatchedstate>
    <importresumepoint>true</importresumepoint>
  </videolibrary>

  <cache>
    <buffermode>1</buffermode>
 <readfactor>10</readfactor>
  </cache>

  <hosts>
 <entry name="kodi">192.168.1.51</entry>
  </hosts>

</advancedsettings>

What is wrong with the hosts section ?

WIP - Rockchip RK3399 devices

Disclaimer right off the bat...I have no affiliation or relationship with the companies linked below...

I decided to fire up a RK3399 developer board (ODROID N1) I was given sometime last year and install the latest LibreELEC 9.0 Kodi Leia on to it.
It's very similar to the Rock PI 4 below.

I've been pleasantly surprised to say the least, how smooth and snappy LibreELEC Kodi Leia was on such a Rockchip Chipset.

What is currently working:
  • HDMI CEC if your HDMI connected A/V equiptment decides to play nice..
  • The very big surprise is Hardware decoding of 10bit h264 aka Hi10P Anime !
  • For video hardware decoding virtually everything works (see below)
  • Even high quality, full motion hardware deinterlacing for Broadcast TV use.
  • When the Netflix servers decide to co-operate 1080p Netflix video plays back smoothly using the Kodi Leia Netflix Addon.
  • 5.1 AC3, DTS and HD audio decoded to 7.1 LPCM only at this stage. (works well with my Yamaha AVR)
  • auto refresh switching with support for all video Frame Rates
  • auto resolution switching (had a few issues with 4K content for this)

What currently does not work & limitations:
  • DD+ and HD audio passthrough, inc. Atmos. (its coming soon, use LPCM)
  • Full 4K HDR support. Some HDR Metadata is missing from the HDMI datastream. (also coming) - more info by @noggin HERE
  • Kodi Leia HDR > SDR tonemapping only works when CPU Software decoding
  • Some old VC-1 content seems a bit stuttery if SW decoded.

Many thanks go to the LibreELEC Kodi developer @Kwiboo Smile

Rock Pi 4 FAQ (click)

LibreELEC 9.0 Leia on such RK3399 devices is running a v4.4 Linux Kernel which is stable and provides for great external peripheral connectivity.
The current list of LibreELEC supported Rockchip devices is found HERE (click)
Rockchip LibreELEC forum support found over HERE

You only need 1GB RAM for any sort of smooth, snappy LibreELEC Kodi device. It's a runs a lean and mean minimal Linux OS

I will say it now, pound for pound the RK3399 is the most powerful Chipset for a 4K Linux based Kodi media player on the market today.
Especially when you look at the prices of the USD $39 - $64 Rock PI 4's (click)

It's early days yet and there are a few rough edges but I suspect 2019 will be a breakout year for Rockchip devices and Linux Kodi support.
More to come...

After a crash and powerdown, movies are gone.

I don't have a Raspberry Pi, but an Odroid-C2, running a fresh install CoreELEC. Everything's been fine for a few weeks, when I wanted to watch a trailer for a movie. It asked to install YouTube, which I did. Then, it froze. Time didn't advance, nothing. I could almost use the Android remote, but functions, including shutdown, didin't work. So, after an hour or so, I pulled the power. Now, all the movies are gone. TV shows are fine. Odd thing is, if I go to the movie files directly, I can get it to show a synopsis of the movie. It's as if everything was there, just not visible. So, I removed the source, which supposedly removed all the movies from the database, and then added the source again. After updating the library, I still have nothing. At first, I was almost positive it was finding movies, so I decided to let it do it's thing while watching a movie. Usually, this will take almost 24 hours, so I was surprised to see it was done when the movie was over. Now, when I run Update Library, it doesn't find anything, and I wonder if it was finding movies before.
How can I fix this?
Thanks!

Party mode issues

Since I moved from MediaMonkey to Kodi (years ago) I have been missing MMConfused Auto-DJ function. When the last audio track in the queue starts playing, five new tracks are added at the end of the queue, so that the music never ends. These five (or n) tracks is chosen on special premises, exactly like a Smart playlist.
For example: As the last track is starting, the five least played tracks from the music library is added at the end.
I'm looking for a way to implement this on my Kodi installation on OSMC (RPi2).

I have tried Party mode, but it only takes me half the way, unless it's not tweakable. The main issue with Party made is that when I turn it on, it immediately clears the playlist and start the new PM songs. It works as I want though, when I add an album to the current playlist (PM still switched on). As that chosen album is played, new songs are added at the end by PartyMode. Great.
I want Party mode to be always active, but in the background, not starting itself, but rather be triggered by the last song (or so) in the current playlist.

If Party mode can't be tweaked the way I want, perhaps I can make use of the Kodi Callbacks addOn, using the onQueueNextItem event?

It would be really nice to find a way forward on this. Seems I can grasp most of the components, but I'm a complete newbie when it comes to getting things together :-)

Empty items in context menu

There are three empty items in my context menu.  I suspect this happened as a result of trying out different skins and then uninstalling them.  I think Kodi should be able to automatically clean the context menu of empty items.  But for now I just want to do it manually.  The problem is I have searched for information on the context menu and cannot find documentation of the path where these items are stored.

Movie view sorting collections alphabetically even when there is only one movie.

When I view my movie library, I noticed some movies being out of alphabetical order. I have movie sets enabled, however some movie collections only have one movie in them. These display normally as a single movie, instead of as a collection, however they are still alphabetized according to collection. For example: I have the movie 'Big Daddy' which is in the movie collection 'Adam Sandler Movies', which was set that way automatically by the scraper. However instead of alphabetized under 'B', its now under 'A'. Is there any way to fix this without removing movies from collections, as I may want to add more in the future which would use this collection.

How to hide year in lists ?

Until I can resolve/tune some scrap issues when browsing from DLNA server, I'd like to know how to hide the year showed between parentheses, which always shows (1969).

I have no idea how I could hide it. Maybe editing a skin XML file or a settings parameter.

Any one could drive me to the correct place to start testing ?

Thanks

Can only watch one video before a restart is required

No matter which addon I use a restart is required after watching one (or sometimes two) video(s).

When I first launch kodi everything works perfectly, all addons load and perform as expected. I’ll launch an addon normally, and select and watch a video without any issue. But then when the video has ended I can very rarely watch a second one. It attempts to load, only to show me the blue loading circle for 2 seconds and then stops trying. Clearing the cache doesn’t help. Only completely restarting kodi helps, which is an issue. Ive had this issue since first installing kodi a few weeks ago, but just only getting around to trying to fix it now.

I’m on Kodi 17.6, Windows 10, powerful PC, fast wired connection.

Couldn’t find a solution after searching a couple of times, so though I’d make an account and create a thread.

Thank you.

Loading/lags when watching movies on the local network

Good evening. Faced the problem of watching movies through Kodi. When watching movies (Android TV 40PFT5501/60) on a local network, buffering occurs in some movies. A circle appears, and somewhere within 3-8 seconds it is filled to 100%, after which 15-30 seconds of the film pass and the same begins. I have a computer running windows 10, and a shared folder (SMB). Connection by cable.

I tried different versions of kodi, it did not solve the problem. decided to stop at version 17.6. All my films in .mkv. If you look through the local network in the VLC player, then there are no problems at all. Everything is very fast, and without delay. So it's definitely not a cable, I checked it. Disabled and enabled hardware acceleration, but that didn't help either.

I managed to find out that many movies of my video library are subject to excessive loading of HDD, and probably in connection with this the transmission speed through the cable begins to fall.

This is what happens on my computer when buffering occurs on my TV. (I did not find the spoiler function here, sorry)

[Image: image.png]

And here the movie is going well, there is no buffering / loading. Usually, loading no more than 2-3% just here a movie weighing 28gb.

[Image: image.png]

I'm sure the problem in Kodi, since VLC reproduces these files without problem.
If you have any questions, ask. I will try to provide all possible data. I hope for help.

Win - Suggestion for cheap Windows box capable of 4K/HDR10

As the title says, I'd like to understand what's currently the best solution to operate Kodi Leia with 4K/HDR10 compatibility under Windows OS.
I know all about Android boxes, Apple TV, LibreELEC and so on and so forth. But for this specific case, Windows is a must.

There's lots of cheap Atom boxes but I'm led to believe that they are incapable of HDR handling.

Thanks in advance.

Kodi-18 and binary addons in Slackware.

Nearly all the documentation for Kodi-18 seems to be aimed at Ubuntu or its derivatives, which isn't much help when trying to build kodi from source in the wider Linux community.

After a lot of faffing about, I've managed to create some experimental slackbuilds for kodi-18 and some binary addons that work for me. The whole saga can be found here:

Slackware, Kodi-18 and addons

The final slackbuilds are near the end of the thread. They have only been tested on Slackware-current (the development branch) with AlienBob's Plasma5 upgrade, so use at your own risk! However, they work for me, and create packages that can be installed and removed with Slackware's own package management tools.

Have fun!

Wii Pro controller on Rpi3

Hi,

I've set up a wireless Wii U Pro controller with my Raspberry Pi 3 - connecting via Bluetooth.

It works OK with various games, but there is a tiny lag with the controls - the lag is enough to affect game play.

Any advice on setting up a Pro controller - is there anything I can do about the lag? or is another wireless controller better for the Raspberry pi?

Thanks,

Custom sub menu to settings sub menu

Hi,

I'm setting up the main menu using Aeon Nox. I'd like to add a sub menu item that takes you into the controller settings (The actual location in settings is: Settings > Systems > Input - then Configure attached controllers).

I've got as far as setting a custom sub menu item that goes to settings: ActivateWindow(SystemSettings), but this opens settings doesn't take you to the Configure Attached controllers part.

I'd appreciate some advise on what command I can use to go to the Configure Attached Controllers area of settings.

Thanks.
