Where is my bottleneck?

I'm having issues streaming 4k MKV movies from my NAS to my TV. I'm seeing stuttering, issues with sound not playing, and freezing. I'm wondering what I need to do in order to fix this. 

My setup:
NAS: WD my cloud ex2
TV: Sony x900e

I am using ethernet on my TV, not Wifi. I'm using the Kodi app on my TV. 
Kinda bare on the details here, but let me know what other information is needed and I'll provide it.

v18 - Some observations playing HEVC on RPi using popcornmix/newclock5 18.0b2

I build the latest git of popcornmix/newclock5 tried a few 10-bit HEVC clips on different RPi hardware: RPi2, RPi3, and RPi3B+.  What I found is that playback was unwatchable on the RPi2.  Decent but not perfect on the RPi3, and good to excellent on the RPi3B+.  I'm thinking there is some minimum clockrate needed to get smooth playback but am wondering what others are experiencing.  Is that trend about right?

v18 - Black screen after 10 minutes, does not recover.

After 10 minutes of inactivity my TV report "No Input" and Kodi does not "wake up"/recover from whatever state it did enter.
This worked fine with version 17.

v18 - StateMachine: timer not handled for state 2

Not sure if this is in the Kodi core, youtube plugin or screensaver trailer service. No reply from youtube forum yet, so I though I would try here.

I am experiencing occasional hangs in Kodi 18 when the screensaver trailer service calls youtube to play a remote trailer. The log has:

   COutput::StateMachine - signal: 3 form port: timer not handled for state: 2

It fails with both the latest Youtube Beta as well  as the one shipped with Kodi 18. I have tried with and without DASH.

I don't know if this is a base kodi or youtube or screensaver-trailer plugin issue. I can play the trailer directly from the MovieInfo window, but somehow not from the (unsupported) trailer screensaver . This did work fine in Kodi 17. Even in Kodi 18 the screensaver works most of the time. I'm hoping that someone might recognize the problem and point me in the right direction.

Android - TV/Movie add-on info window

Hello, I just installed the latest Beast build (v1.12) on Kodi 17.6.

While covenant and several add-ons to search for movies or TV shows, if I select a movie/show and bring up the next dialog box (this used to display things like add to playlist, add to favorites, information, settings, etc.) I now only see a blank gray box without any text.

Does anyone know how I can get the text to become visible in this box again?

Are there any guides to achieving PERFECT playback on Kodi 18 running Ubuntu 18.04 desktop version as the OS, on systems with VAAPI graphics?  I am trying to minimize or preferably eliminate dropped frames.

RAM Assignment for kodi Xbox One

I noticed kodi on Xbox one has 2.5gb total ram when I know if has alot more. if the amount was chosen for conservative then I think minimum should be 4GB of RAM.

It would be good idea to match or improve on Nvidia shield as a console/stream box competitor and 4gb really needs the minimum ram these days

How do i get the path of a specivic shortcut (script skinshortcuts)? (just the pure path without the "ActivateWindow")

all i was able to get was "ActivateWindow(Videos,MovieTitles,return)" or "ActivateWindow(10025,"library://video/movies/recentlyaddedmovies.xml/",return)" via

$INFO[Container(9001).ListItemAbsolute(0).Property(path),]
(Container 9001 holds the submenu)

all i would need is something i could use as dynamic content.

Is it may possible to use the override.xml to add another property which would hold only the path of an item (ListItem.path)?

Did read thru almost the whole documentation, and i just didnt find a solution (may do to my limited Englisch knewledge).

External player not found? FTP possibly?

Basically when I try to play a video using an external player, it just flashes at the top right the file name but nothing happens. The only player that will work is the kodi player which is glitchy with my remote. I am accessing the files over an FTP server if that makes a difference

Finally I had time to make (more or less) nice pictures of my setup.
Kodi Player is fanless and my NAS is low noise so I don't hear it at the corne of the living room.

Picture Slideshow crashes

Hi,

I'm still having issues running a recursive slideshow on Kodi 17.6 with a UPnP link to my Windows 10 server.  I've pulled off a 5Mb log file, but for the life of me I can't follow the entries.  Tried searching for 'error' and whilst the file has a load of these, the thing it reports as an error is not in plain English.  Tried searching for 'Fatal' and it finds a load of 'NonFatel' content, usually about incorrect lat/long values.

What else should I be looking for please?

I set everything to 'on' in the logging, so hopefully I've got the error captured in the log fileHuh

FireTV 4k lagging, stuttering and buffering

Hi guys,

First off, thanks in advance for any help you can provide and here is my debug https://paste.kodi.tv/azusayaruj

I've only had the FTV4k for about a month. Installed 17.6 and it worked fairly well for a few days but now it's unwatchable. Video is in slow motion and constantly buffering and audio is out of sync. 

Current connection is FTV>AVR>TV with hdmi, tv is a 1080p Vizio, avr has 4k passthrough
server is external 11tb hd's>TM-AS1900 router, SMB has worked great for 3 years now

Simple things I've tried:
installed 18.2 over top of 17.6 yesterday
turned on hardware acceleration (this helps a bit but still not right)
switched audio settings to 2.0 and 3.1 (current speaker setup) passthrough/no passthrough
cleared cache on All apps and restarted Kodi 

Hope somebody can help Smile thanks

The first I have done, is to install Kodi 17.6 and after I have to install plugin.video.netflix-master.zip. And there is not any problem. However my app does not work because there is not content. What can I do? I try everything but I can fix it

Broken - Leia "String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(fanart))" broken, at least for Addons

$INFO[ListItem.Art(fanart)] retured a path even if its empty / if there is no Fanart

to test and prove -> Screenshot shows my "Addon-Hub", where a variable shuld show the icon if no Fanart is available ("String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(fanart))"). Doesnt work with Leia.

Screen shows the AddonHub + $INFO[ListItem.Art(fanart)] as a Lable in the top left corner.

I have a video library stored on Linux NAS and shared using NFS.  The shared library is mounted on my Kodi device and accessible from the cli mount point.  How do I now view the shared mounted files from the Kodi menu system?

Previous Video still flickering in new video

Hi,
sometimes when the new video is starting from playlist or after commercials on TV, some  parts of the previous picture is still flickering when it should be just black. Sorry for bad english. I hope the screenshot shows what i mean.

Software:
    Kodi: 20180922-3238e003-master-x64
    OS: Windows 10 x64 Pro 1803
    Nvidia: 399.24

if i delete the image id="1" the space is empty except of the Time Lable (id="2") so cant guess where this "overlay effect" is comming from.
