Ideas for a large collection of albums

Morning all,

Time for a question from me, just looking for ideas really.

I have a large collection "Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of all time" of albums that I want to organize nicely in Kodi.

How would you tag and arrange them in Kodi? I have a few ideas already but was interested in your thoughts.

series only not working on kodi no matter the addon

=11ptIm new here, sorry if I make some mistakes.
We have a minix android tvbox with kodi krypton 17.6 with addons. the minix is connected via rj45 directly from the modem.
until a few days ago movies and series worked fine. then we started have a very strange and specific problem: when we go through the series menu we can browse only few menus down. we cannot get to the menu of different seasons (it thinks and then just stays in the above menu).
when i try to search for a tv show it finds the show but will not "enter" it.
movies work fine when i go from the "by year" menu but not from the "popular" or "people watching" menu.
the strangest part is that if i turn my phone into a hotspot and connect my minix to wifi (with my 4g connection) everything works fine!
i tried to install kodi on my laptop and connect to the same network but got the exact same issue.
Talked with my internet provider support and they tried a few things like changing the modem version. at first it seemed like the problem was solved but it returned very quickly.
any help would be most appreciated Smile

Nas Noob - Need advice for a 4 bay Nas Enclosure for Kodi/Plex (Mainly Kodi)

I have never owned a Nas Storage device in the past at all, and have been using a HTPC for my media player with Kodi, but it's on the blink, thankfully the drives containing all my blu, dvd, cd rips are all fine.

I have two 3TB Drives and two 8TB drives containing the rips for all my music, film, tv and photos. I am hoping to be able to buy a diskless Nas enclosure for use with either Plex or Kodi (either on PS4 or nVidia Shield. I may even upgrade to the lifetime Plex thingy so I can still watch movies whilst away, unless it's possible to setup the Nas as a 'portable HDD' containing all my drives?

All my movies, tv show's highest resolutions are 1080p and I run everything through my Denon amp. I'd like all the video to run smoothly and the newer had audio streams to work. DTS/MA, DolbyTrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS: Neural X.

I'm guessing the hardware I'm streaming the files to does the encoding?
With passthrough for the hd audio?
Unless I'm streaming to my tablet/phone?

I'm honestly clueless as to how it all works.

All my content is ripped to .mkv format/container.

Is Nas storage what I need or would it be better for me to just get a 4 bay hdd enclosure?
I would guess that a nas would be better, as I can have it set up and almost always on then and be able to have it in one place in my home to watch anything anywhere in the flat.

My budget is £300. I would really appreciate some advice as to what enclosure would best suit my needs.

Android Krypton v17.6 problem with add-ons

Hi,
today i have turned my android TV and KODI on it and all my add-ons have disappeared. Also list of add-ons in Install from repository option is empty.
Had someone same issues?

Kodi doesn't recognize episodes with two zeroes

If the name of the video file is, for example, s01e00 Kodi won't recognize the two zeros and in the library it will appear as s01e01. So, if you have eleven video files and the first starts with e00 and last ends with e10 the last video file will not appear in the library, because the e10 will be actually assigned the e09 video file.

v17 - Kodi error messages and crashes

I've finally finished adding all the DCs, SEs and Unrated versions to Kodi and before I start on the Music source I would like to eliminate some of the problems I've been having.

1. When editing the library Kodi will crash on average every half an hour. It either crashes back to the desktop or hangs requiring Kodi to be killed from Task Manager.
2. When left alone Kodi will hang by itself, again requiring it to be killed from Task Manager
3. I had literally hundreds of crash logs in my userdata folder. (see sample below)
4. There are several errors in my Kodi.log

(4) In the log there are errors about the following two folders..

These folders do no exist, as the error says, so why am I getting the errors and how do I get rid of them? I can see no reference to the folders in the library.

Do I need to worry about any of these...

Android TV and android apk

I have an nVidia Shield running Android TV. I tend to predominantly use Kodi which also has the option of running the android apk. The main problem is that there are a few apk eg. 7plus which is an all-in-1 apk containing versions for Android TV, and mobile android. When I launch the apk from the default leanback launcher, it loads the Android TV version. However when I launch the apk within Kodi, it seems to be the mobile android version which is not remote friendly.

As a workaround, I can use HALauncher and put the 7plus apk within it, select the Android TV version, and launch this within Kodi.

Just wondering if there is any way I can get Kodi to pick the Android TV option for these apk rather than the mobile version.

Request - Add 'Smooth Motion' feature (as seen in madVR) to prevent motion judder

Last year I moved from MediaPortal to Kodi, and I really love Kodi!
But a major issue that I encountered with Kodi was motion judder.

MediaPortal fixed this with their 'MP Audio Renderer' which adjusts the speed of the audio or something. That worked very well, but in Kodi I could not get the playback as smooth as in MediaPortal (yes I tried all the 'sync to display' and audio re-sample options).

The only solution I found was to use the Kodi DS Player build which allows me to use madVR. In madVR I then just switched on 'smooth motion' and *boom*, motion was as smooth as in MediaPortal!

Since the development of the Kodi DS Player build seems to have been stopped, I'd like to propose that the main release of Kodi gets a 'Smooth Motion' feature like madVR offers. Smile

v18 - Kodi crashes during search

Just upgraded to V18. Whenever I search for anything(movie,tv show,actor) Kodi starts the search and then just closes. 
I'm running Windows 10 64bit with the current update and have had no other issues. Previous Kodi version 17.6 had no issues.
Appreciate any tips/tricks or suggestions!

Vanilla Kodi on Android tablet

Hi, guys, I'm having a similar issue.  Vanilla Kodi on an android tablet.  I have all the movies and tv shows on another tablet's sd card.  I have shared the sd card via FTP server running on that Android tablet.  when I add the folders in Kodi of the remote tablet only the movies get the artwork.  I'm using local option for scraping since I have all my folders already set up with all artwork, but I even tried using the Kodi tv scraper with the same results.  Only the movies get the artwork and not the tv shows.  

Now on the tablet that has the FTP server and the sd card, it also has Kodi, and when I add the tv shows and movies from the sd card everything displays perfectly.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong or what I can try to resolve this?

Strange stuttering behavior

Hey guys,

I am running Kodi 16.1 (libreelec) on a RPi2 - yeah I know its kind of outdated, but its running fine for me (expect this little stuttering issue) and I also have tested 17.6 with the same result.

The issue I have is, that very few video files (23.976fps) I have, giving me a little stuttering during some scences. The strange thing is, if I running the player process info (using "o") during the playpack (to monitoring any frame drops etc. pp.) the video files are playing without any stuttering. So thats what I am not understand - why does it stutter on pure playback, but with an overlay (player process info) its running smooth?

I did a comparsion debug log, but I can't see any different there, anyway I linked the log files below.

My system is:

RPi2 (using Kodi 16.1) which is connected to an AV Receiver through HDMI and that is connected to a more or less "old" Samsung LE46C750

Kodi settings:

Adjust display refresh rate: On start/stop
Sync playback to display: on
AV sync method: Resample audio
HW acceleration: OMX off, MMAL on
Limit GUI: unlimited

I tried allmost all setting possibilities and its not getting better.

v17 - 5.1 movies out of sync 200ms on Kodi 17.6, Worked fine at 16.1

Hi.

Went from Kodi 16.1 to 17.6 on my Chromebox and got a sound issue. Probably a setting, but i have tried many without a solution. On 5.1 movies i have to set the sound 200ms ahead to be in sync, 2.0 sound works fine.

I have speakers set to 5.1.

I do not use passthrough but i have it hooked up ta a home theater with 5.1 speaker (Samsung HT-C6600, Built-in Decoders: DTS decoder, DTS-HD High Resolution, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD decoder, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby TrueHD)

I have setup Kodi after https://kodi.wiki/view/Chromebox 3.4 Recommended Settings, but som options are not available: 
Vertical blank sync: Let driver choose
Deinterlace video: Auto
Video scaling method: Lanczos3 - Optimised

And i am not sure what Audio output device i should use, ALSA: HDA Intel, GSM LG TV on HDMI #0 or some other like ALSA: HDA Intel, HDMI #1

Any clues? Do you need more info?

Trouble finding "Extras" inside Zip archive

Hello all,

I have the Add-on:Extras installed, and the "Extras" directory set to zip://Extras.

Here's my advancedsettings.xml.

Here's my library directory structure.

Here's my videoextras.nfo.

The problem is that I'm now having duplicate Movie entries and no Extras show up.

P.S. In case anyone is curious as to why I choose to store my media files in Zip archives. The file systems of the various NAS devices I use don't support Linux file permissions. I prefer my file and directory permissions to be 0644 and 0775 respectively. Storing them in an archive preserves said permissions.

Cant Connect to Media Portal

Loud Jingle on launch

Launching Kodi Krypton there is a loud musical jingle that plays at full volume (no matter the volume settings).

Changing the skin from the default to Confluence Zeitgeist has no change and will play the musical jingle regardless of kodi skin.

Is there a way to disable the musical jingle?

Unable to play any TV channel

Hello.
I'm using RaspberryPi 3 and Kodi v17.3
I installed PVR IPTV Simple Client.
I followed this article @Karellen- Link removed  and links provided there @Karellen- Link removed
After I restarted Kodi ... it loaded around 3000 channels.
They are nicely listed but none of it is working Smile
I mean I don't have any error or message but simply I click on any channel but it does not start.
Could someone help me?
My goal is quite simple: I want to see that I could play TV.
Maybe my link to m3u list is not good? Could you recommend me one ... just to verify it works for me ?

Are malicious plugins isolated if xbmc is sandboxed?

I have been using this video addon and I keep getting alerts from my vs. that the files in it's cache are malware or trojans. At first I thought it was a false positive but two different scanners are giving me Warnings. The plugin is working like it's supposed too and it has a lot of good content so I hate to get rid of it. I have sandboxed xbmc will that prevent whatever it downloads too it's cache from running outside the sandbox?

A) Can I connect the remote to my PC using Bluetooth
B) What are everyone recommendations for a TV Remote similar to the MiBox remote that can be used on Windows 10

Problem with Ustvnow Addon

Hi!

I have a problem with Ustvnow. I can't use this addon and when I try to enter, I read this: "something went wrong, visit http://www.ustvnow for support".
Ustvnow doesn't help people who have problem with Kody. In the ustvnow site I can watch every channel without problems.
I created my account 6 mounts ago and I use the free plan. Can this be the problem?

Can you help me? Thank You!
