Help with dual monitor, 24p playback through XBMC

Posting this as a separate thread because I don't know if it is a hardware, software, or XBMC problem.

Hi Everyone. I need some help. I have an issue with a particular set-up with my HTPC that I cannot seem to fix. It has to do with playback at 24p with this particular set-up. I consider myself pretty computer savvy but this one I cannot crack.

What I am trying to do: I have a home theater that I am trying to add a second monitor to the system. The goal is so that when I rip a movie to the HDD, I can use the monitor and not turn on the projector and waste bulb time for ripping a movie. Sounds simple right? ... not so fast.

Here is my relevant equipment.

HTPC:
Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Nvidia GT430 as primary graphics card
Windows 7
XBMC Eden v11 with HD audio patch

Projector: Panasonic PT-AE7000U projector
Monitor: Acer (forget model #) but 1080 60i capable resolution via DVI

Receiver: Pioneer VSX 1121

Set-up: AE7000u connected through receiver via HDMI 1.4; Acer connected directly to HTPC via DVI.

My goal is to play videos in my theater with my projector through XBMC at native resolution – and my library consist solely of blu-ray MKV's. This as we all know is typically 23.976 (24) fps. If I do not have a second monitor hooked up OR if I set the Acer monitor as “Extended” screen on windows 7 AND I set the resolution to custom 24p for the AE7000u I get perfect playback. No issues, very smooth playback only with audio delay that I adjust through XBMC. I do not have to touch any other settings in XBMC. This set-up does not help though because I would need to download a program like ultramon in order to use the Acer the way I want to (I am being stubborn and refuse to do this). Remember I do not want to turn on the AE7000u to rip movies.

If I set the system in windows 7 to “Duplicate”, then the resolution can only be set to the lowest common one – in this case 1080 60i. In this case, I can keep the AE7000u off when I need to rip and only use the Acer. The problem lies in when I try to play movies on the AE7000u at the native resolution of the movie. When I set XBMC to “sync playback to display” and/or “Adjust Display Refresh Rate to Match Video” the input during movie playback does change to 24p, but I get horrible tearing in the middle of the screen and I get audio issues (popping, sound skipping, etc.).

I have tried messing with the advancedsettings xml, various settings within windows, various combinations within XBMC, various settings with NVIDIA, but I just cant get this to work when I “duplicate” the screens.

So there are a few questions:
1) Does anyone have suggestions?
2) Is it an XBMC issue?
3) Is it an hardware issue?
4) Is it a dual monitor with differing resolution issue?
5) Is it a Windows issue?
6) How do I get this to work?

I feel as though the answer is right in front of me but I am not seeing the trees through the forest type of thing!
