So I've tried my bootcamp partition and there I can make 7.1 audio work. When I try it on OSX, something strange happens.
Before starting playback, I can see that my 8 audio channels look like they should (screen dump 1).
After having started playback, the MIDI settings revert to 2 channels encoded output (screen dump 2). I don't know how significant the two channels are, because the receiver accepts the signal as a 5.1 DTS signal. The audio that is supposed to be output in the rear speakers, end up in the side speakers.
The problem is that this is a DTS HD-MA file that will work on XBMC for Windows on the exact same hardware.
Is this a known problem, or something I should report as a bug? I'll attach the logfile if anyone is interested.
...2 minutes later...
Hmm, it seems that I can't find the "attach" function on this forum :/. If anyone is interested in the pictures and log, please let me know.
