Madnox 21.02.01 Release: Important Update & Installation Guide
Prologue & Rationale:
After a long and winding journey, the Madnox 21.02.01 release has been uploaded to the repository. Keep in mind that some elements and structures had to be moved/changed. The conversion largely maintains the original design flow, transitioning from script to plugin operation methods.
This is a major architectural change to the skin and requires very specific update path. While this CAN be installed via .zip, it is highly recommended to use my repo to do the upgrade installation.
Because of the transition from
Embuary Helper to
TMDb Helper, it completely breaks if certain add-ons and minimum levels are not in place.
TMDb Helper is currently undergoing a complete rewrite and is changing daily. This matters because the version in the official Kodi repo is a major version behind. A minimum of the current v6+ is required to ensure all changes in Madnox continue to work without interruption.
The TMDb Helper version that is required is
not in the Kodi repo and may not be for a while as it is actively being developed. Therefore, I am providing a known snapshot build that serves as the baseline minimum for Madnox to function correctly. This has been discussed regarding delivering other packages, but there is no end date and therefore will be provided and delivered until TMDb Helper officially makes it as a release to Madnox via the official repository. You can see the discussion here:

The primary reason for this detailed guide is to ensure a smooth transition, as some users may not read the instructions thoroughly or may attempt to figure it out independently. While some may be able to, most will not. I don't want to field questions like 'hey, you broke it,' and have to repeat instructions.
The only exception to package delivery will be the following:
These two require third-party repos, which adds layers of complexity to the installation process. I have them pre-installed, and you are free to disable or remove them within the admin panel, which most users will be familiar with.
I've also changed the first-run installation experience. I've set it to pre-install at least one of all add-ons and 'furniture' features, simplifying the 'startup' features and enhancing the skin's experience. While I'm aware there are multiple options for things like weather icons, I've installed at least one that comes from the Kodi main repos as a starting point. The files are small and low impact, even on the lowest of hardware, and can be uninstalled or changed at your convenience.

Omega Skin Download Link
Nexus Skin Download Link
Pros:- Relatively fast install/enable.
- zip file can be viewed before install.
Cons:- This method does not auto update.
- Continual manual downloading/update rinse & repeat.
Installation by Repo (Omega):
Note: Repo v1.0.09 is no longer valid and missing updater link references (and it will not see this latest update), thereby, making it
broken, ensure to update to 1.0.10 at minimum going forward.
- Open settings > File manager.
- Click Add source.
- Browse is active > Click on <none>.
- Paste or type: https://kittmaster.github.io/KittmasterRepo/ and press Enter or OK.
- Leave File Manager > Click Add-ons.
- Click Install from zip.
- Drives/Networks/Repo > KittmasterRepo should be seen among the list, click KittmasterRepo. Click repository.kittmaster-1.0.10.zip (as of June 6, 2025) or whatever .zip is listed.
- The repo is now installed.
- Click install from repository.
- Click on Kittmaster's Repo > Look and Feel > Skin > Madnox.
- Skin installation can take up to 2 minutes depending on network speeds.
(Omega installation complete)
Nexus Addendum:
If you are still using Nexus, three items do not install automatically. Jurialmunkey's Repo, TV Tunes, Artwork Dump.
To install these items, use the install from repository > KittmasterRepo.
- Add-on repository > Jurialmunkey's Repo
- Program Add-ons > Artwork Dump
- Services > TVTunes
- Video Add-ons > TMDb Helper 6.8.23 (if needed but latest in Jurialmunkey's Repo, check there if his repo is installed)
Pros:- Automatic updates for both the Repo and Skin (make sure you turn this on in the add-ons settings!).
- Proper clean-up and installers going forward as TMDb Helper stabilizes.
Cons:- None
- Well, maybe one, more steps to get installed/running, but ensures fixes are delivered when immediately available.
Please report all issues and bugs in this thread and I'll do my best to try and resolve any problems.
Enjoy,
Chris
