I'm trying to use MPC-BE as my external player with Kodi 21.1, but when I click a movie, nothing happens. If I right click a movie and choose Play Using, MPC-BE is there as Default. I can get MPC-HC to work as an external player, but I prefer BE. Here is my playercorefactory for BE.

Hello! Firstly, I apologize for my lack of knowledge. I am a very new user to Kodi and am trying to wrap my mind around the software. 

I have inherited a box I can plug into my TV to run Kodi. It has a few add-ons installed onto it that I wish to run including "SastaTV". Every time I open the add-on, I get the prompt, "Oops! Unable to login to server". The box is connected to my internet via ethernet and has a reliable connection. 

I am confused on where to start troubleshooting this problem. Any help would be appreciated, including a very basic understanding of potential causes of this issue.

I have a weird situation. I set up my Kodi box as a media player for my grandmother. Bunch of special configurations to make it easier for a senior. Everything works as expected on my TV.

I bring the Kodi player to my grandmothers, and plugin it in to her TV, and all the keyboard.xml settings are gone. The Skin/Theme settings we there, but the custom keyboard.xml is back to default.

I bring it back home, and its back to working with the custom keyboard.xml.

I only use the master profile for both TVs.

Any ideas why changing TVs would do this?

Player.Chapter returns the chapter number to the skin, but how do I get the Name of the currently playing chapter?  (and perhaps the name of the next chapter if the infolabel supports an offset)

I can see in the bookmarks dialog that it lists the chapters with the names, so Kodi is getting that info, but I'm stumped on how to get the name of the currently playing chapter so that I can display it in the OSD. 

That would be especially useful for things like music BDA rips or concert videos, etc.

Any ideas?

Six years ago I had a similar problem with Windows Shared Folders. I'll start at the beginning....

For many years I had an MXG Pro 4K and shared folders worked a treat. I updated to a MX10 and with fiddling and farting around got that to work for a couple of years.  The MX10 died so I shopped around for a replacement and got an ANDROID 13.0 TV BOX, a H96 Max. As I said - shared folders worked a treat to date.

I tried to setup the shared folder as I have many times before. I tried addressing just the server expecting ALL the shared folders to come up but all I got was two notifications - 1) Error/Invalid argument and 2) Remote share/Couldn't connect to Network Server. This has worked before for YEARS!

So I (Add videos) for each shared folder (about 6 altogether) again as done before and got an error and asked if I wanted to proceed etc and then the same two notifications.  I then watched what was happening carefully and saw that when I clicked "Ok" all my back slashes were changed to forward slashes!!!!

I tried many many times - always back slashes changed to forward slashes and errors!  I assumed that something this basic would be reported everywhere but no, searching this forum saw two references to this neither of which fixed my problem!  What am I doing wrong?  How can I fix it?

I was an analyst/programmer on mainframes before I retired so not a complete novice!  If I can't get this to work I'll return the H96 and look around for a seller with old stock of MXG Pro or MX10.

Has anybody got Windows Shared Folders to work on a recent Android Media Player?  Please enlighten me how?

smb:\\<server>\ becomes smb://<server>/  AND  smb:\\<server>\Downloads\ becomes   smb://<server>/Downloads/ and errors out

Ok, so I just reinstalled Kodi on both my Shields, and I made MX Player Pro my default player. Which is what I want!!! But the problem is, when anything finishes playing, or I back out of something, it restarts Kodi. GRRRRR!!! How can I fix that? What secret, hidden setting is there? Or, is it something I need in the xml file? Help, please!!

I am openSUSE tumbleweed desktop KDE.
I use kodi with Aeon Nox: Silvo
When I go in the video tab then files, my external hard drive looks but like a usb!!!?? I had not cared under windows 10, what makes it that I can’t add "add a video source" is create my tab as I usually do

Hello. I was wondering how I should name the album version tag (e.g. remastered, reissue, deluxe edition, etc.) when tagging with Picard. Apparently this is called album comment on MusicBrainz. Does "MusicBrainz Album Comment" work?

I was also wondering if there is a script somewhere where this tag and others (like albumartist) are listed for Picard so that tagging is comprehensive for Kodi. If this exists, then I can just copy this into Picard and not have to worry.

Hi all, I’m hoping to get some help setting up VLC as an external player. I’ve tried a number of different configurations in the .xml file. VLC will show as an option to play video with, but videos won’t launch.

My suspicion is that SteamOS has some unique settings and permissions I need to wrangle but I’ve reached the limits of my knowledge.

(I tried the example on the Kodi wiki to start as well as some other iterations but unfortunately I didn’t save them.)

Help! Kodi won't play anything through Put.io Addon.

Please be gentle, I am a total noob with RPI.
Previous threads have not solved this problem for me. I am running Kodi on a Rpi 1 model B+. Put.io keeps throwing errors whenever I try to play a video through the addon. Log follows:

I followed Linking movies to TV shows, but I think it must be a bug that showlink cannot contain the year or premiered date? Besides showlink which contains the show title, I believe there should be optional field(s) named something like showlinkyear and/or showlinkpremiered.

The two movies MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis (1994) and MacGyver: Trail to Doomsday (1994) should link to show MacGyver (1985). However there is also show MacGyver (2016) which it should NOT be linked to. 

If I add the year to the NFO file showname link, then Kodi creates no link at all. If I do not add the year to the NFO file showname link, then Kodi does add it correctly -- but I'm pretty sure that's coincidence, and it just happened to add it to whichever show it saw first.

Hi, was using KODI with lots of good quality content. Then switched on my VPN, surfshark, only to find the content has now disappeared. I now only have live tv and live sport. The addon  was gratis.

Any suggestions.

Hi!

So I just got a Pi5 for christmas and I trying to install Kodi on it but I'm running in to an issue.

I flash the system on to my SD-card and plug it in. The initial boot sequense starts, everything looks like it should. But once it starts Kodi i get graphics errors and no real picture. I get a square that reminds me of the intital setup box (ive installed Kodi before) and a square that moves like highligthing different options. I also get the clicking sound from moving around in the menues. No text at all and also veritcal lines all over the screen.

I've tried bot Librelec and Xbian and get the same resultat, although with Xbian I get the Kodi Logo animation (with disorted colors and lines) before I get to what I describe above.

My initial tought was that the Pi was broken, but as I said, I get a normal looking picture until Kodi starts.

I've tried both HDMI-ports and also different cabels with the same result.

Does anyone recognize this or have any Ideas?

I have been using Chromecast with Google TV 4k with Kodi and Google Ambient view to listen to Danish Radio from Kodi and watching Google Photos on the Television.

Then I exchanged the Chromecast with Google TV 4k with a  Google TV-streamer 4K. Installed Kodi and set up Google Ambient and expected it to work excactly as the Chromecast with Google TV 4k.

The problem occuer after some time - the sound from the radio disappears.

Going back to showing Kodi on the screen - the sound starts immidiatly!

What can cause this difference?

Is there a way to define different actions for "Default Select Action" for Movies and TV-Shows?
I would like to have start playback for TV-Shows and Show Information vor Movies.

I mean this setting:
Settings>Videos>File Lists>Default Select Action>Show information

Does anyone know how to configure. MX Player Pro, or just any other good player, besides the default, that just works, without restarting Kodi every time it reaches the end, or you back out of it? It works fine with the xml file, but every time a video is over, or half the time, you hit return to back out, it closes and restarts Kodi. I've tried this with T Player, too, and it does the same thing. What is causing this? How can I fix it, so it actually just goes back to the list, and marks things as watched, like it should? I don't even care if it's MX Player. Just anything similar, that does not do this!!! 🙄 I absolutely hate the default player!!!

Hello,
I have an issue with playing DTS audio files on my new Android TV box. I have a Logitech Z906 connected via SPDIF to the Android box. The passthrough is enabled in Kodi with the RAW output device option (with the IEC recommended the DTS does not even play, probably because the TV box only supports Dolby Digital) So it only happens with DTS, and Dolby Digital (AC-3) works fine. I did enable the AC-3 transcoding and DTS core, but that did not help. I was running the same setup with my Windows PC and there the DTS sound worked fine, so I copied the settings, and that also did not help. I have tried probably every audio settings combination, but I can't get it to work. I did try to analyze the audio log but, I don't understand it.
