SmartPlaylists Mapped Drives?

$

trying to get my smartplaylists for my hard drives to work but can't quite figure it out, i think the prob is that i used mapped network drives this time around when i set up kodi instead of smb shares... in the past when i used smb shares my playlists worked fine with "smb" in the <value> section of the list, but using smb doesn't seem to work with mapped drives nor do the mapped drive letters ( m: and n: )...

what i've tried:

<value>smb://network name/movie files/action/</value>
<value>smb://network name/movie files/action</value>
<value>H://network name/movie files/action/</value>
<value>H://network name/movie files/action</value>
<value>H://movie files/action/</value>
<value>H://movie files/action</value>

i've also tried using both "startswith" and "contains" in the "operator" section... any thoughts? thanks!

Is there any WORKING way to speed up 24p to 25p?

"Sync Playback to Display" isn't working since Kodi v18.2.
So is there any other way to speed up 24p (23.976 or 24.000) to 25p?

Best way to get trailers in KODI?

Hi,

We have had a lot of problems with the default movie trailer add-on, most of the time it loads but starts a VARY slow and never ending buffering. So I took a closer look and it seems like it is using the HD-Trailer by default. I disabled it and instead tried do download trailers with the tinyMediaManager. When pressing the trailer button in Kodi the screen flickers and nothing more, the log says that youtube add-on needs to be enabled. So I  enable the youtube add-on and this seems to work better then ever. I suspect that it is not reading the trailer from disc even if there is one?

I saw something about creating a API-key for youtube, I suspect that everyone that dont do this will share a key and it has a limit? I tried to create a key according to instructions but got a error and after that I only have a API key, the oAuth 2m0 Client is missing. I tried to create it again but yet again I got an error.

What way it the most reliable and best way to get the trailer button to work in Kodi?

Kodi viewer inside Android App

We have an app in Nepal and are looking at adding some video content to our Android and iOS app.
I am a novice in this and have been reading and educating myself.
Would it be possible to remove all of the settings in a Kodi viewer and just it to only view some tutorial videos that we want to share to the viewer function within the app we have built in Kotlin in Android. We will continue to add more videos in future so that our app users are able to see it and also maybe add other channels.
If any developer would like to discuss about developing this for us, you are also more welcome to write to me allen at unlimit dot com

Aspect ratio for scripts

Hi,

How can I change the aspect ratio for addon scripts skin, is it possible? Using the Estuary addon.xml solution seems not to work with script skins. Maybe adding aspect ratio support to class WindowXML(Window) would be an idea?

How to add an http-reference to a local file?

I have a custom m3u8 file, but I need to add a reference to run it on Kodi, I can't put "c:\aquivo.m3u8|referer=https://...." because it is a local file not "HTTP ", how could it be done? adding in the segments tmbm does not work, only when I update the file on a RAW platform and put the reference in front, but I wanted to use it locally.

Kodi 18.x crash on Android 6 marshmallow

debug log here:
https://paste.kodi.tv/uzifoxarur.kodi

Kodi 18 crash a few seconds after startup (any version 18.1 to 18.7)
Kodi 17.6 working perfectly.

I I disable the option "Allow remote control via HTTP", Kodi is working.
Tried to change the tcpport in advencedsettings.xml using port 9999, or port 10080, bad results -> always crash
<jsonrpc>
    <compactoutput>false</compactoutput>
    <tcpport>9999</tcpport>
 </jsonrpc>

Checking the log, seems a socket binding problem with Android. I suppose the method of sokcet binding has changed from v17 to v18.
The system has still a good amount of free RAM, it is not a memory problem.

Any idea?

Possible to have SD and HD versions of the same TV series simultaneously in library?

Suppose you have SD and HD versions of a TV series that are exactly the same, except one is SD, the other HD. How would you get them both in your library at the same time? I know how to do this with movies using .nfo files, but my experiments setting the title with tvshow.nfo have failed.

Server for kodi with multi threaded streaming?

Hi,

currently I use plex, it works on tv, no kodi needed, but i'm having trouble with connectivity to it, mostly 4k bluray is an issue, as single connection speed tops at 50mbits or so. But if I try to test with 10 threads I max out my internet connection (well, mostly, but it does not go under 150mbit)

I looked at emby and jellyfin and none support multi threaded stream

What is your setup?

NFO Generation: Omit Original_Filename?

Is there any way to have TMM omit completely the <original_filename> tag?

After I finish processing a new entry for the library I create folders/rename the files in a different way so original_filename is useless to me and somewhat annoying Smile.

Why does Kodi limit my resolution to 720p?

I have my Pi 4 hooked up through my A/V receiver to an HD projector. All other devices correctly see the display device as 1920x1080, but Kodi shows 1280x720 as the video output. I've gone into the system settings, and there's no 1080p available. The list ends with two 1280x720 entries for some reason.

How can seperate movie types in main menu using Estuary Mod V2 (or any other skin)

$

Firstly I'd like to thank the articles on this website that have proven to be brilliant. I installed Kodi yesterday and going through the KB's solved a host of problems without having to bother you good people. But now I cannot go any further and the KB's are failing me, and now i finally came here to ask for help

I installed Estuary Mod V2 on Kodi 18.7 and it seems to work great. But I installed Estuary Mod V2 for the main purpose to create and edit the Main Menu items. I'm ONLY using Kodi to scan and present all the MKV movies i have on my hard drive. I'm not interested in streaming services.

I have separated all my movies into different folders on my hard drive. 3D, New Releases, Anime, Classic Movies etc. I have used Estuary Mod V2 to create the new Main Menu items and i have a list which goes

Movies
3D Movies
Classic Movies

When i try to add only Classic Movies into the Classic Menu item and add the source of the folder that only contains Classic Movies, it adds everything from the other sources as well. And now the main Movies menu item has all the Classic movies in there as well, and it becomes a bit of a mess.

Can someone please let me how to ONLY classic movies to show up in the classic movies section and make it look like the Movies section with thumbnails etc and never get it to mix with the others? If Estuary Mod V2 can't do it then i'm more than happy to try a different Skin

I'm using this on a Windows 10 64-bit desktop connected to my TV over HDMI

Audio channel infolabels not precise

$

Like mentioned here, it's been bugging me a while already that the audio channel infolabels available to skinners only return a fixed set of values not representing whether there's a LFE channel e.g. (5.1, 7.1) - you only get the total number of channels which isn't very helpful. Some layouts even seem to be missing altogether: 3.0 e.g. which is a rare, but an existing channel layout for jazz releases.

Currently, skinners can only either use labels like Mono, Stereo and Surround or guess which layouts are the most common. This is not precise in any way or even misleading - e.g. if 5 channels are interpreted as 4.1 although the file has a 5.0 layout. On the other hand, Kodi seems to have these information at its disposal e.g. in the OSD audio settings dialog where the currently played audio codec with the correct audio channel layout is shown. I'm aware that these information are only available during playback atm. But not even the player infolabels for audio channels return precise audio channel layout information.

Can this information be made available via the DB as a more precise infolabel outside the audio/video player? It would be great to be able to show more precise audio channel layout information to users with Kodi v19. Shy

HOW-TO: Stale mariadb / mysql database? Seeding new install on another machine!

Annoying issue, simple solution.

Problem - On a fresh installation on Windows after putting my advancedsettings.xml into place I found that the majority of my movie thumbnails didn't show up, and never did show up. As was pointed out to me here at the forum the reason for this was a stale database. For whatever reason the paths to the images used on the rest of my machines weren't valid anymore, and as such was unable to get that information to match. Basically it was looking for something that didn't exist.

Solution - From any other "working just fine" Kodi machine (all of my machines are linux save this one desktop) I copied 2 folders from their /home/"$USER"/.kodi/userdata folder. In this case both Database, and Thumbnails. Put these in your Windows machines %appdata%/Kodi/userdata folder and it will load everything up just fine. From then on as movies / media are added it will update them at the same time as other machines, keeping up with the new information while still using the existing information from your sql database for the existing movies that were present on initial install on the new machine.

This applies to linux machines as well. Same principle.

*EDIT* This also means that keeping a backup of your database includes backing up these folders as well.

Das Boot (1985) Series Won't Scrape

$

Hi guys - I'm trying to scan in Das Boot (1985) into my TV library - however, it won't scrape.  I just get 'Das Boot (1985) doesn't exist'

This is the 6 part TV series and not the film that was released in 1981.

I can see there is an entry for it over at themoviedb https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/65567-das-...uage=en-US

My folder structure is as follows:-

Das Boot (1985) > Season 1 > Episode 1 > Das Boot (1985) - 01x01 - Part 1.mkv

Any ideas why this isn't scraping?

Kind Regards

Local NFO files - a question

$

Hi there

Apologies if this is the wrong location - but I'm trying to clarify whether what I'm trying to do is actually possible.

I have a PVR back-end that constantly records 5 TV stations, and creates day folders, with channel sub folders, and then these contain all the shows for that channel that day. The idea is to record all the shows constantly for a rolling 14/28 day period, so I always have every show I may have missed recorded in off-air quality (and can copy it away for long-term storage if I want to keep it). This is working OK so far.

I also have a post-record script that also creates a .NFO file for each recording, and this .nfo file is deleted along with the .ts file after the 14/28 day period.

The file structure is :

2020-06-30 (Day folder)
--BBC ONE HD (Channel folder)
--1300.BBC News at One.ts (Show file)
--1300.BBC News at One.nfo (Metadata for show file in what I thought was Kodi .nfo format)
  --1330.This is BBC One HD.ts
  --1330.This is BBC One HD.nfo

etc.

The .nfo files contain approx the following :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<tvshow>
    <title>BBC News at One</title>
    <plot>2020.06.30 13:00 BBC ONE HD
The One O'Clock News from The BBC [HD][S]</plot>
    <playcount>0</playcount>
</tvshow>

Is there any way of getting these .nfo files - or similar - to associate with the .ts files, so that as I navigate around the files in Kodi, I see the <plot> metadata appear alongside the file details ?  Is there another route to doing this ?

I'm trying to avoid all my Kodi clients having to access a PVR client.
