Power Saving Setup

Hello all,

I've got Kodi as a frontend on the same machine as my MythTV backend, and want to set up power saving so the machine goes to sleep when I'm not doing anything.

Looking at previous threads on this, it looks like I should just set it up in Myth, and not configure power saving in Kodi at all; is that right?

Obviously I want to guard against the machine going to sleep in situations where it shouldn't:
  • If Kodi thinks it's time to go to sleep, or is manually set to do so, but Myth has stuff to do;
  • If Myth thinks it's time to go to sleep, but Kodi is doing something - either playing Myth content, or content from a different source.

Any hints very welcome!

Her is my trouble : kodi sees my external USB drives and i can play movies directly accessing the file in the dedicbut when I go to -> File -> add video source -> Browse -> External storage

Disable watched status per playlist

Hi, I have two smart playlists for TV shows. One playlist has my TV shows and the other has kids TV shows. I want my playlist to hide watched episodes but the kids playlist to always show all episodes. Is this possible without changing the watched status back and forth. The reason is because I will only watch my episodes once but the kids rewatch stuff over and over.

v18 - Trying to change HDMI refresh rate fails

Hello all,

I have an X99 Android box running android 7.1 and Kodi 18.5 installed. My TV is a SONY Bravia KDL-55W905A.
My video playback stutters every few seconds and I think the problem is with my refresh rate.
In my android settings I had set the HDMI output to 1920x1080p60 and the box itself works just fine including playback using MX Player which seems nice and smooth.
However, in Kodi the playback is not good even when I turn on "Adjust display refresh rate" to "Always" and "Sync playback to display". I tried playing with these options and no combination works well.
If, however, I change my Android box's settings to use 1920x1080p24 and disable all the refresh rate adjustments in Kodi, everything plays smoothly, but then the box itself seems slow and annoying and I can't playback 60fps content from youtube/netflix/amazon prime etc.

When turning on debugging and looking at the actual FPS produced by Kodi while playing back a movie, I see that the FPS jumps wildly anywhere between 30 and 60 FPS and CPU cores (there are 6 of them) are between 20% and 60%, CPU-KODI is at 120-140%.

I'm trying to use the <adjustrefreshrate> override in advancedsettings.xml to force Kodi use 24Hz while the box itself is set to 60Hz or to "auto" but Kodi completely ignores me and continues to use higher refresh rates.
In fact, Kodi seems to detect my display as 1920x1080@117.0001 which is wrong as my TV doesn't support more that 60Hz at 1920x1080!
I've been reading the source code of Kodi to try to understand what is going on and I see that it first tries to use overrides and if that fails, it tries the whitelisted modes.
From the logs I see that it gets to the code that tries whitelisted modes, which tells me that it failed to use the overrides for some unknown reason (this piece of code does NOT produce any log output...).
Even so, Kodi will only list that strange 1920x1080@117 mode in the whitelist.
I tried to manually edit the guisettings.xml file to add my own whitelisted modes but Kodi ignores my changes and only shows 1920x1080@117 in the GUI.

I also have a newer X96Max box that exhibits the exact same behavior.

Any ideas?

I'm attaching my kodi.log, guisettings.xml and advancedsettings.xml files.

Modifying included fields in the NFO

Hi,

Up until now all of my movies have been located in a single directory, but I understand from reading online that Kodi doesn't really support using MPAA or other ratings as a means to filter what content is available.  I believe that what I need to actually do is split the content into different folders and then use the profiles to only add the folders that are relevent for the profile.

I'm based in the UK so our movies are typically categorised like this:

U (Universal) - For everyone
PG (Parental Guidance) - Pretty much for everyone
12 - Over 12 years old only
15 - Over 15 years old only
18 - Over 18 years old only

We have a daughter who turns 15 in a month or two's time so we want to give her access to everything apart from those movies rated 18.  For the sake of control I will most likely split the movies up into a folder for each rating.

However, here is the challenge.  I have somewhere in the region of 4000+ movies and I don't fancy sorting them by hand.  I have Ember configured to write the content and NFO to the same folder as the movie.

My question: Is it possible to edit the configuration to include the UK age rating in the NFO file?  If so then I can write a script that will read the NFO and use the data to move it to the correct place.

Trying to make a certain kind of playlist for main screen

So I have my movies organized in two folders Adult movies, PG-13 and R rated movies, and Kids movies, Everything else. Both folders have DVD's, Blu-ray's and now 4K movies. I saw a video on youtube where someone made a main menu tab for 4K movies. I was wondering is there a way to make a main menu playlist without having to make a new folder.

Basically I want to make a collection that I can add to my main menu and leave my other smart playlists the way they are and I can't figure out what to do without moving movie folders around.

youtube music error

Hello

I am using Youtube Music add-on for several months and recently I got an error and can't play anything.

Here is the error I had in kodi.log file : bakozojelo.kodi (paste) (I don' really how it works to share logs, I hope you will be able to see those logs)
I already tried to uninstall and install again but nothing change.

How to select which artwork to download?

Hi, I'm new to TMM from EMM. I'm running the latest version. I've been playing with it and love it so far. I cleaned up my library but I didn't see a setting for one thing I'm trying to do, and my Googling didn't turn up anything.  In EMM on a single movie I could right click and tell it to scrape for just a certain artwork type. Like Poster or Discart, then I would get a list of everything it found and I could select one.  If I didn't explain that well *sorry* I have about 20 movies and want to change the poster and Disacrt that TMM automatically downloaded. I see TMM has an option to select a local file, or to paste a URL to an image to download. I'd like to see all the images it's scraper finds and be able to select the one I want. I'm assuming this should be possible, but I sure as heck can't find the option for it.

Looking to speed up display w/Emby for Kodi

Hi, I'm sure this has been asked before, but as a new user I couldn't find it, so here goes...

I'm using Kodi as a client for my NAS, on which I am running Emby, via Emby for Kodi. The problem is that the HTPC attached to my living room TV connects via wifi, which isn't an issue when streaming 1080p, but moves REALLY slowly when displaying thumbnails (my movie collection is about 1,000 titles). Are there any files that I can point Kodi to locally so that it maybe caches the images on DAS, but streams the actual movie from the server?

Any advice would be gratefully received, and sorry if this has been answered already.

By the way, Aeon MQ 8 looks amazing!

Sound problem with my Pendoo x10 plus box

Hi all,  

I just buy a new android box by pendoo x10 plus , and the sound is a poor quality , I add a pict of the sound setting you will see some red line on the image .  The sound and the picture seems to be affected by elictricity

Modifying details

Where am I able to modify the information displayed on the home widgets and on the OSD when a video is playing?
I would like to see the Season and Episode for TV shows, which is surprisingly missing from all screens. I managed to modify the DialogVideoInfo.xml to get these details on the media Information screen at least, but am lost on finding what files to modify for the other sections.

But I can play it smoothly with Video Player of Sony X900E and Infuse Player on Apple TV 4k.

Hi,

Does anyone on here back up their TV recordings?

I personally don't but would be pretty devastated if I lost them all, so am thinking about doing this.

However, with a single HD program running to multiple GBs, I was wondering whether it is worth bothering with.

What are your views?

Which one do you prefer? I always have use Kodi, and the move to plex, so I install the plex addon and I like it, because it is plex with the background configuration options kodi has.
But I am curious if Plex media player for windows could be a better alternative. Has anyone tried this two?

Hey guys,,

I know Kodi is an all inclusive media platform, not just for movies, music and streaming. But I do not see many users for image viewing, and I am curious. Mostly I would like to know how you sort your myriad collection. I believe Kodi would just display the images and do not do any sorting/databasing of images, so how do you sort and organise your image library? Is it througn native OS software or through third party apps like Google Photos/Picasa. What would be a neat and free way to organise the pictures without getting them uploaded to cloud etc?
I know, multiple queries. I want to explore this, hence all the doubts, please provide your suggestions. Thanks

Hello, the Raspbian 10 buster (4.19.93-v7l+) on RPi4, i recently ran "sudo apt-get purge kodi;find ~/.kodi -delete;sudo apt-get install kodi".

Kodi fails to launch:

Setup
 
Synology NAS running TVMosaic (Build 17707) with HDHOmeRun Connect Quatro network TV tuner. Kodi is raspberry Pi3 B running LibreELEC 9.2.0 (Leia) with Amber skin.

I am having an issue trying to play back a recorded TV program (.ts file) on my Kodi box. The issue does NOT affect the majority of my recorded programs but its not the first time this issue has arisen. The issue remains irrespective of the skin that is being used.  I have undertaken a fresh install of LibreELEC but issue remains
 
The symptoms are as follows
 
Using the TVMosaic PVR Add on (4.7.2.2) I select a recorded program (domiciled on Synology NAS) to watch
 
Selected recorded TV program Launches but with no audio
 
After a short period of time - say 3/5 seconds video stream terminates and returns me to the recorded TV index screen.
 
Looking at the Kodi logs there appears to be an issue with multiple repetitions of
 
"WARNING: ActiveAE - large audio sync error"
 
Strangely the subject TV recording file plays back flawlessly directly via VLC on my desktop, ditto using the TV Mosaic Linux desktop client and also in iOS using 8PlayerPro and VLC.
 
Appreciate probably like looking for a needle in the proverbial haystack, but wonder if anyone has any suggestions ?
