Apple TV 4 reinstalling Kodi every week?

Reading the wiki it says I have to install Kodi every 7 days? Is there no work around for that? I wanted a Apple TV 4 as media unit but having to install Kodi every week won’t do it for me.

Special characters in filename causes files not to be played

I've got a collection of audioplays be "the three investigators". In german they are called "Die drei Huh".

Reading those files into the library works well, but they could not be played, as the path for the files ends after the second "?"...

Example:
Code:
Hoerspiele/DDF/2017 - Die drei Huh 90-Minuten-Special: Das Grab der Inka-Mumie (other)/CD 01/Die drei Huh - 01 - Ein Mumienschrein in Rocky Beach.mp3
If kodi tries to play this file it looks for:
Code:
Hoerspiele/DDF/2017 - Die drei Huh 90-Minuten-Special: Das Grab der Inka-Mumie (other)/CD 01/Die drei ??
and can't find the file!
Playing the file from file-menu works fine. Even the "Huh" in the foldername give no problem! If I rename the filename to: "Die drei questionmarks - 01 - Ein Mumienschrein in Rocky Beach.mp3" it works!

So it seems the filename itself is not saved correctly into the DB!

I stumbled upon this as the hole source was removed when cleaning the DB and read in again on update DB.

All movies/TV-shows in library that were on SAMBA mounts are gone after upgrade

Hi,

I hope I am using the right sub-forum now, please move my post if I have posted in the wrong part.

I have been using XBMS/Kodi for 5+ years now. On my TV-computer I haven't upgrade Kodi for at least 2 years. This weekend I upgrade both Ubuntu from 14.04 to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS ('Xenial Xerus') as well as Kodi to:

$ kodi --version
15.2 Git: (unknown) Media Center Kodi from Debian
Copyright © 2005-2013 Team Kodi from Debian - http://kodi.tv

After upgrade all my content in library that is stored on local HD is still there -- however all my content that is on SAMBA shares are gone. But trying to access the SAMBA shares works. So I can play the content on the SAMBA shares without having to re-add them as they are remembered after the upgrade.

But I cannot understand why they are gone from the Library?

I have a copy of the .kodi-settings dir since before the upgrade -- how can I get back my old library in the best way?

Thanks in advance!

is it possible to use network shares with no network? Hear me out!

Hi guys,

Been using Kodi since it used to be XBMC. For the last few years I have mostly just been using Kodi on my PC, but have hooked up a raspberry pi zero w running osmc to my TV.

I have got my video folders on my windows 10 PC shared, but I am a hardcore cord cutter these days and have had no broadband or home network for a year. Instead I plug my phone into my PC via USB then use windows 10 mobile hostpot to share the mobile connection with my other devices.

My question is this - is it possible to get kodi on my pi to pick up my shared windows drive? I can see kodi is connected to my PC via the mobile hotspot.

File transfer is definitely possible cause I can connect to my retropie build SMB on my PC and transfer files no problem, just struggling to get it working on kodi. I want to stream video from my PC to kodi.

Cheers in advance.

Deleted and cleaned TV shows still appear in library with 0/0 episode count

I'm having an issue where after a library update old TV shows that I've deleted long ago will show up in the library again. The episode count will say 0/0, and there are no episodes in the folder. When I enter the folder and back out, the show will be removed from the library, but will show up again on the next library update. Cleaning the library does not remove the deleted shows.

Hi heaving problems now with sound and video, when I play a video and seek to go forward when I stop and resume play the sound is out of sync and I can't watch it like that. I then need to quit Kodi and restart and I can't get back to where I was watching unless I start from beginning again. I then launched VLC and it plays fine on that program. Here is my log if it helps: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/CTqkjQvRFW/

Okay we we updated to Kodi 18. Something. It asked to update so we let it. Movies play great but now no tv show will load. If they open at all it has a,weird code like CDATA then the, name of the show. If you click on it nothing happens. This is only for TV,shows.... anyone else having this problem? Any ideas how to fix? We even uninstalled and went back to 17.6 still wont load any tv show.

"In Progress" movies keep coming back

I have a problem, where a large number of movies (600+) keep appearing as "in progress" with anywhere from 1 to 1000+ seconds viewed. I first did a "reset resume position" for 100+ movies individually, but they came back. I just went in now and deleted the records in the myvideoXX.db, but they have reappeared again.

I would be greatful for any help, and glad to provide more/better information.

Default recording lifetime

Hi - I have been using VU+ / Emigma client on my laptop to control my Zgemma h2s box for a while now and find it excellent. However I have just noticed for the first time the setting  "Default recording lifetime" set to 90 days. Does this mean that any recordings via my Kodi will disappear after 90 days. Although I often delete recordings before 90 days there are some I would like to keep forever. Please can anyone advise on my concern?

How to run amixer command at startup?

I tried to add the following to /storage/.config/autostart.sh:

amixer --card 1 cset numid=13 on

in order to enable the digital output on my ASUS XONAR. However, it does not have any effect. I guess it's overwritten by some other alsa command when Kodi starts up or similar.
I can ssh into the system and successfully execute the above after I've booted, but I would rather not have to do this each time the system is booted.

How can I make a persistent amixer setup on Kodi/LibreELEC?

Request - Avoid showing OSD when xbmc.Player().seekTime

In short i use seekTime to skip part of the introduction to the videos

xbmc.Player().seekTime(time)

but each time it is executed, the OSD is displayed and then hides itself, it's bad to see

Is it possible implement the possibility of avoiding the show of the OSD on skipping?

like:
xbmc.Player().seekTime(time, OSD=False)

or is there already other way?

Hi,

i'm using Kodi as upnp server which works fine with BubbleUPnP pplayer for example. Now i have an soundbar which uses the QAS Player (android app) to stream from an UPnP Server.
When i try to stream from my kodi, the songs wheren't played. They where skipped.
In the DEBUG Log from Kodi there are the following lines:

Kodi Log

What does this mean and what's wrong with the qas Player app? Any ideas?

Noob Question - exclude inline extras

$

Hi

I use Plex with EMM to scrape movie trailers and have been getting on fine until recently

I've found that when I update my movie library it is creating titles for existing inline extras with -featurette -scene -deleted -short -behindthescenes -interview in the name
I've even been getting some files added as titles that are themselves trailers, meaning I now have some files called (moviename)-trailer-trailer

Can someone help point out where I'm going wrong?

Where is the information about required versions of libraries?

I think I have a mismatch between Kodi (2:18.5+git20191117.0758-final-0bionic) and FFmpeg (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1). I belive thsi is the case because my audio is strangely distorted (as if the music was not playing in tune) and I saw some comments about the need for Kodi to be strictly in sync with the FFmpeg version.

Is there a place where this match is documented? (so that I can downgrade my FFmpeg to the correct version as a last chance to have a correct setup)
