Change channel: UPDOWN

In PVR it's possible to change the channel by the keys UP and DOWN. UP will switch to the next channel (x+1), DOWN will switch to the previous channel (x-1).
Basically this is clear and this is what most users will expect.

On the other side you can use the channel list, such as by pressing the TAB key. In the channel list (ascending sorted by channel number) you scroll from top to bottom, i.e. you select the next the channel with the DOWN key and the previous channel with the UP key. So this is the contrary to the behavior in without the channel list.
Basically also this is correct and this is like the menu (channel list) should work.

However, I always have to think if I have to press UP or DOWN to go to the next channel.
For me it would be fine if I can invert the meanings of UP and DOWN in the PVR (live view), but only when the keys are used for direct switching the channel without the channel list.
Is there a way to do this?

You may think I'm strange ... and this might be right. Big Grin

XBOX - Xbox One X - Kodi 4K HDR Playback

I have built up a decent collection of 4K UHD's as well as Blu-Ray's and want to rip them all so I can stream them to my Xbox One X. 

I'm currently just using a MyCloud set up with NFS streaming my normal content to Kodi. 

What are the limitations of using xbox one x as a Kodi player with uncompressed 4K UHD rips and normal Blu-Ray rips?

Will I need to invest into a more capable player, and if so what could handle it?

The reason I love my Xbox One X, is that it's an all in one solution. I have my tv and soundbar synced with my xbox so my media remote
manages, my live tv, kodi, etc all through my xbox.

Hello i have a MacBook air! MacBook OS High Sierra 10.13.6 and i get the latest kodi to work! I have downloaded Krypton twice and it is not the same as the one you guys show and which is also on my girlfriends MacBook! I am new to all of this and i am having trouble getting it to work properly! Any help would be great!

Close channel OSD after switching channels

Did the setting (https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/TV/Menu_OSD) 'Close channel osd after switch channels' go away in leia?

I cannot find this setting and on one of my kodi v.18 beta, windows 10 settings, when I am in the live tv (epg) guide and I click on a channel to watch the guide does not close, and will only close by hitting 'esc', on my other kodi setups it goes away automatically.

How to SetMovieDetails with "Video.Rating.Set"?

Currently I have a script that sets a video rating using VideoLibarary.SetMovieDetails with params of "rating":"new_rating"

I want to upgrade this to "ratings" where I create variables with the rating names (actual use case is "video" and "audio").  Per the schema I need to send a Video.Rating.Set in the params block, but I don't know what that set should look like?  Do I also have to set "rating"?  It seems like "rating" is intended to return the default member of "ratings" but I don't see how this is controlled?  I don't want to overwrite any scraped ratings.

Easiest way to edit episodes Widget

I love the Estuary skin and I've been using it for a long time. There is one thing I would love to change about it however and that is to change the recently added episodes widget to a recently added TV Shows widget. 

Basically the same thing but it shows the newly added shows grouped by show rather than by episode. 

I've done some searching and I know there are mods that can do it but the ones I have seen really do too much for what I want to achieve (I'm a fan of the clean look). I believe you can edit the home.xml but I'm not entirely sure what I should set it too.

So I was wondering what the easiest way to achieve this was? Thanks Smile

Locating an external video resource

Hi all,
is there a way to understand where an external resource is located?
I have many files on many different hard disks but in the movie selction page I only see the covers and i'm not able to understand in which hard disk the movie is stored.

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe Kodi auf der NVIDIA Shield TV.
Beim Beenden von Kodi habe ich immer das Problem, dass sich Kodi aufhängt. Um weiter zu kommen Kodi wieder zu haben, muss ich zu meinem Shield TV neu starten.
Ist das ein allgemeines Problem?

With Leia Beta 3 my A/V-receiver gets no surround sound anymore - only 2-channel.
Withe Beta 2 and before everything went fine!?

Any ideas?

What is more power efficient, cpu or gpu decoding?

Good morning,

I have a i5-8400 cpu and a Gtx 1070 Ti.

For watching 1080p x264 media, currently im using hardware acceleration from the Gpu, but i notice that the Gpu load goes to about 30%(although using low voltage).

In terms of power efficiency, its better this solution or turn off the hardware acceleration and let the Cpu handle the decoding?

Can't see the channel of a HLS stream

Hi all.

I have a problem and I spent a few hours trying to solve it.

I am trying to open a specific HLS (.m3u8) stream and I can't get it to work (on 17.6).

I use PVR Simple client and I created an .srtm file with the stream url in it. This is the only content in the file. When I load it in the client's config (local file in General configs), there's a popup saying "1 channel loaded".

However, when I open the PVR & Live TV menu, I see nothing.

Other urls "just works" though. And the specific URL I want to play is working on my desktop in VLC. That's stream: https://rcavlive.akamaized.net/hls/live/..._2500.m3u8. It's geolocked to Canada so you may not be able to watch it.

Where do I start to solve this?

v18 - Old Acer laptop w. DirectX 11(FL 9.1) no video, 18 beta 2,3

Hi guys,

I have an old Acer D255E Atom N455 1.67 GHz laptop with 2GB RAM and Windows 7 home premium, that has worked fine with Kodi 15/16, and with software rendering also with Kodi 17.6.

Beta 2/3 is fine with Android Box (and also with LibreElec/CoreElec versions CE 8.95..2.)

But on my laptop, no video, just regular audio with Leia beta2/3. So need help...the Kodi System Info does show the Intel GMA 3150 supports Direct X 11 (FL 9.1), the requirement per Kodi wiki for hardware.

Below is the debug log and ffmeg lib + video component enabled.

Tested with 720/480/240/144p. (I am not interested above 720p !) Tried all the render options with all other settings as default.

All render menu default with autodetect:

Android - SONY AF9 w/ AndroidTV Oreo - Installation via Play Store fails with Error Code -506

Hello Everyone!

I'm trying to install Kodi on my SONY AF9 w/ Oreo via Play Store, but the installation fails with error -506. Interestingly enough, if I then restart the TV, Kodi appears under "Apps", but can't be started. 
I've tried a complete Factory Reset and then install Kodi 17.6 immediately after OOBE, but fails with the same error code.

I also tried installing the current nightlies, but these failed as well.

What could be going wrong?

Installing the Driver for Touchscreen

Hello,

I recently bought an Raspberry Pi 3 for a Music Player Project integrated into a Selfmade Musicbox.

Installing KODI was no problem and i managed to get Spotify to work on there however my Touchscreen arrived and I just cant seem to install the Driver.

Is the cause maybe that there is no Sudo Command? If I am looking into the Script they try to execute Sudo Commands.

is it possible or is it a plug in for move any file to another folder in kodi library without using the file manager? For example I watch a video and then I want to move it by longclicking the file and have the option to move it.

Widevine - how to get notification of update

Hi,

on occasion we've sat down to watch something on Netflix only to get the notification that Widevine needs an update. I was wondering if there a way that I could get notification of a new release of Widevine such that I could update it before we want to watch something. It doesn't have to be a 'push' notification, just a suggestion as to a forum thread or github page that I could keep an eye on.
