Connecting to My Cloud Mirror
Hi all, I've got a Nvidia Shield TV 2 16gb and I'm running SPMC connected to a WD MyCloud Mirror NAS via SMB all hardwired. Now the problem i've got is if i set a username and a password on my NAS, when watching a movie or tv show the video will stop playing after about 10-15 minutes and i then get a connection error message or connection timed out message on SPMC i then have to restart the nvidia shield and then i'll either get 10-15 mins playback before it happens again or i cannot re-connect back to my NAS? The only solution I've found is to set the NAS to username to "admin" and remove the password and everything runs fine. Now i want to run the Shield as a Plex server so my 2 Tv's upstairs which have the PLEX app can access the movies and tv's from my NAS. Now when i tried to connect my Shield to my NAS and i use the default username "admin" and leave the password as blank my Shield will not connect to my NAS!!?? But if i assign a password and username to my NAS i'm going to go back to the 10-15 min playback and stop issue. Anybody had this issue and resolved it or is there another way to connect the NAS to SPMC via username and password. Also i've tried NFS and i get same result in SPMC.

Add Actors for Music Videos
With music videos becoming more of short films or well constructed Ads, there are people who are appearing in these videos who are known personalities themselves. It is not really new, think Wesley Snipes in Michael Jackson's Bad. Being able to search my library for all the videos containing a certain YouTube/Facebook/Vine comedian would be a really useful feature.
Is it possible to do this?

Kodi 17.6 - No Play/Pause/stop/FF/RW buttons when using "Play to"
Hi all.
Kodi 17.6 (default skin) running on Linux (latest 64 bit version).
All works well, but when I am using the "Play to" function, to play local (laptop hard drive) content, (music, films etc) onto any of my DLNA devices, I cannot find any "transport" buttons to pause / FF / RW etc. This is a real pain.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Note, I do not use any type of remote control for Kodi, just the laptop’s keyboard and mouse.

Rotten tomatoes & Metacritic not storing locally?

i searched abt this but didnt find something relevant
i have the RT and MC scores for movies activated and they are showing correctly
However seems like RT and MC scores are not storing locally and if sometime passes, lets say 45 min kodi refreshes the scores again frm the internet
i remember correctly when a movie was scored for the first time in the past it was taking no time to show the RT/MC scores after that (ie geting the scores from local cache or something)
i have a slow connection and this affects the workability a lot since need 20+ seconds to get scores now
PS i must say most probably not a Titan specific thing as i also tried the estuary mod and has same behaviour
any ideas or is this a normal behaviour?

Issues with 5.1 Surround Audio and Kodi 17.5. Is SPMC my only option?
Hi all -
So I currently run Kodi 17.5 on an NVidia Shield. I have a lot of media that is 5.1 surround (of various codecs - all of which my AV receiver supports). I've tried every combination of NVidia Shield and Kodi settings, and can't get 5.1 passthrough to work. Is it possible?
I've instead been able to get it to work in SPMC by following this: https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/Reco...-Receivers
Just let me know if there is anything I can do in Kodi 17.5 to get proper 5.1 passthrough. And if not, is this a planned feature in Kodi 18? I'd hate to switch to SPMC for just this one issue.

Kodi Leia - latest nightlies
I download each day the latest nightly (Windows, 64 bit, Estuary Mod). I cannot install the two last nightlies (nov15, nov14), Kodi crashes immediately. Each time I'll have to go back to nightly from nov13, which does work. Am I missing something ? Is this a known issue ? Any solution. Tnx.

I'd love to integrate my recently purchased Tradfri lights into Kodi, e.g dimming lights on playback or setting moods based on whatever. Regrettably, I am unable to find any actual Kodi addons or tools that communicate with the gateway. So far, I stumbled upon this article which suggest libcoap for the job. However, there is still the problem of firing those commands on playback, pause or stop in Kodi.
Do you know any working implementations or addons that would allow me to define some events to achieve my goal?

Kodi can't install changed addon
I am trying to change a domain hardcoded in addon but kodi can't install this modified addon from zip file. I extract zipped addon file and replace the source code and zip all files again with same structure. What am i doing wrong ?

Hi, maybe i'm missing the obvious here but since my Nvidia shield updated Kodi to 17.6 I cannot find how to manage my sources for videos, used to be able to long press centre/ok button to access menu where I could map or remove a drive or folder on the network ? any help greatly appreciated.

I have a few questions, interview style.
I am not tech savvy so bare with me please.
Q1. Why was Kodi written in C++?
Why are addons in python?
Q2. Why is Kodi not written in Java or Python?
Q3. Would there be an easier code to make Kodi?
Q4. If someone were to only learn one code language, what would you suggest?
Q5. For a person who is only able to work from home and wants to learn a new career in IT, what career would you suggest? If that person chose a career in programming, what language code do you suggest?

I ask these questions as I love Kodi, recently became disabled and want pursue a career in IT.
I think learning code is exciting but overwhelming by the difficulty and complexity of codes. Maybe code is not right for me?

Support pausing video while switching from Kodi to another application.

If I pause in a movie and press home button and return back in Kodi the movie is lost. It doesn't resume it from where I've paused it.
SPMC has this function. If I pause in a movie and pressing home button or switching to another application after I return back in SPMC the movie resumes from where I left it!
