Separate Icon and thumb in PVR

I have a hard time understanding the logic behind having ListItem.Icon and ListItem.Art(thumb) returning the same value in the PVR. I don't have a PVR setup but as I understand it not all (or none?) backends supply thumbnails. However thumbnails can be provided by add-ons like Skin Helper Service, which has a PVR scraper function.

Because ListItem.Icon and ListItem.Art(thumb) return the same value, I am unable to distinguish what is shown in what situation. So I cannot define x dimensions, y scaling and z position when there's a thumbnail available, but use a dimensions, b scaling and c position when a channel logo is showing.

So, to put it briefly, please consider changing this so that:

- ListItem.Icon: returns channel logo
- ListItem.Art(thumb): returns a thumbnail if available, returns empty when not available.

This way the channel logo can be used as a fallback for thumbnails using a different set of properties. I can't think of any situation where this would take away anything.

Kodi Crashing on Exit

Windows 10, Kodi 17.4. Aeon MQ7 skin. When I click shutdown on the app, it takes a long time to exit. Not a huge deal, however sometimes it crashes and other times it just takes time. Below are the logs. ANy idea what's going on?

Windows 7 problem

Hey. thanks for taking time to read this and hopefully help <3

First of all I've been using kodi on my fire stick for a year or so. as my parents seem to use my stick more and more I've decided to use kodi on windows but i just can't seem to get it to work.

The main problem is it just stops on 39.99mb into installing any build and just states there has been a problem and check the report. (tried around 5 different 17.4 builds and i'm using one of the builds on my fire stick)

Kodi 17.04 unable to play video

Hi,

after years of using Kodi without issues, suddenly this happened:

-> I was playing a video, that started stuttering, then the system froze
-> Ubuntu complained that it was out of memory
-> I restarted, and now Kodi doesn't manage to start playing any video

So it seems something is messed up with the 3DLUT.. but I don't know what that is or how I might fix it.

Does anyone have any idea what I could try in this case?

DAZN addon working on Fire Stick Kodi?

I'm trying to get DAZN working on Kodi on a Fire Stick. I have the app installed (inputstream enabled to do so) but whenever I load anything for NFL GamePass all I get is a grey screen with a few splotchy pixellated sections. Any ideas?

Tag on music

I have a big problem. All my music are well tager but when importing the piece of music I have more tag for a same artist. Ex: For AC/DC all the tags are ACDC but in the artist part of Kodi I have a, acdc, ACDC, AC-DC, AD / CD Confused

Where do all these other tags come from?

Hey,

I'm trying to use MXPlayer instead of the native one, but I'm not getting anywhere.

I've tried following http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Use_externa...n_Android, but apparently that one isn't accurate anymore for kodi 17.

Then I tried using the code in this thread: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1566.0

Again, didn't work. How do I make this work? Plsrespond.jpg.exe

quick edit: as source I'm using an FTP server btw. Which I did try specifying in the xml file, as a protocol. I also tried filetypes="mkv", no dice either.

I'm not very tech savvy and I'm not sure if something similar to my situation has been posted previously, I apologize if it has, so please just bare with me.
Having multiple errors on Kodi. Every movie in EXODUS says "no stream available"
No idea what to do
I have tried to fix the echo wizard problem by adding Fusion but I received another error message "no network connection"
I got a URL htt://paste.unbuntu.com/25608856 and says to put this is my log file on Kodi support forum. Hopefully this is what it meant for me to do!

MP4 video files playing audio only

My first posting here, so I hope you'll all be kind to me …

The problem I have is simply with mp4 files not playing video through Kodi. So, I'll give as much info as possible:

I have an external hard disk attached to a router (TP-Link WR2543ND) which contains a small number of folders, only one of which is shared by the router's uPnP Server. The files are in subfolders, and are typically AVIs and MP4s, though a smallish number are MKVs or M4Vs. Only very rarely is more than one type contained in any folder.
Connected by wired network is a media player box (BeeLink GT1 Ultimate with Android 7.1.2 API Level 25). I have loaded this box with Kodi 17.4 Krypton from PlayStore, and I haven't loaded any add-ons. It drives a Samsung UE22D5003 TV via HDMI.

I have tried two different approaches with Kodi. First way is going to Videos > Files > TP-Link_xxx and opening it. Second way is Videos > Media Sources > TP-Link_xxx and opening that. Both give the same result, that I can see only the folder shared via uPnP (not an unexpected outcome). However, when opening a folder containing files of type AVI, MKV or M4V a movie symbol is displayed against them (no file size for some reason, though that doesn't bother me). Selecting any file causes it to play perfectly. However, when opening a folder containing files of type MP4 a 'music' symbol is displayed against them (with file size). Selecting any file causes, predictably, the audio but not the video to play.

On the Android box there is a proprietary app called Bee Files Explorer. When following "Files" I get to see only the content of the local disks. Thus no use. But there is also an option for "Network SMB" – when I follow that I see the IP address of the router, opening that I see ALL the folders on the router. Navigating to the folder/subfolder of any video file (MP4 or other), it is passed to Kodi which then plays it perfectly.

I could just about live with this as a solution, but am obviously missing out on lots of good stuff, like being able to play multiple files without closing down Kodi and selecting another file in Bee Files Explorer. And no doubt much, much more.

I am reasonably IT literate, though not particularly at home with Android. Can anybody suggest how to move this forward? Please, pretty please.

Subtitles

At present, I have the preferred audio language set as the original stream's language, and the preferred subtitle language set as English. I can also enable/disable subtitles globally. I'd say my entire library is 60/40 English/foreign language so either way is going to leave me with a mildly irritating situation if I have to turn them on or off each time. What I would like to achieve is for subtitles only to be enabled automatically when the audio language doesn't match subtitle language. Failing that the ability to enable/disable them per library/playlist/show would work. I'm aware that I could just delete all subtitle files to anything with an English audio track, but that isn't really a solution as there are then no subtitles available on the rare occasions they'd be needed.

Have I just missed something, and there is a way to have this work the way I want?

Autostart kodi on reboot

I couldn't find a way to automatically start kodi after a reboot/start-up in the wiki or in the kodi forum, but found the answer in the raspberry pi forum;

$ nano /home/pi/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart

add;

@kodi -fs -d 2

at the bottom of the file, save, exit and reboot.

Emby server - Mac?

is any one successfully running emby server on their mac?
I tried it late last year/early this year and it was unstable and most importantly could not handle watch status.

I switched to Plex with the plexkodiconnect addon. It is working well but I am always on the lookout for ways to improve the kodi experience.
