Shutdown only exits xbmc

Well...pretty much what the subject says
when I choose the "shutdown" option (not the exit xbmc..specifcally the shut down one to shut down the computer), it only exits xbmc

i'm on eden (not nightlies) on windows 7, xbmc as shell..

wondering if anyone else is getting this error or something similar and what to do to fix it...thanks!
