Remote works but shows socket error

So I've got a good one for ya, I keep getting the standard socket error "make sure webserver is enabled and xbmc is running" after recently switching from xbmcbuntu to a windows installation (also making the move to eden).

I can get into the remote section of the app, and then use it to navigate xbmc, however it keeps giving the socket timeout every few moments. I can't figure this out at all.

Anyone have any ideas?
