No sound when XBMC are exited in installed XBMCbuntu

I have installed the XBMCbuntu version and ran into som troubles.
When exiting from XBMC and going to the desktop and trying to play sounds from other applications like Spotify (linux version) and Chromium browser, nothing happens.
No error or anyting. Sound play as it should in XBMC

And when looking for some audio options i cannot seem to find it.

I have a optical cable for the sound output (but strangely it only works with the Analog setting in XBMC).

Can anyone help me?
