Show both DVD order and air date order

For most of my TV shows, order by air date is fine. But for some (specifically Batman: The Animated Series), the DVD order is the correct order while the air date is completely wrong. If I select DVD order when initially adding the library, it will for the most part organize everything correctly. But, if certain shows do not have DVDs, then the shows will not show up in the list. I found a work around by adding another scan of the same library and unchecking "DVD order", but is that the correct way to go about this?
