I have a Gentoo box with XBMC 12.2 and Avahi set up.
However, airplay isn't being advertised as an avahi service while other services, such as NFS or SAMBA, are.
My goal is to be able to stream music from my iTunes library on an iMac to a HTPC running XBMC on the TV.
I do see the mdns packets advertising all services, including airplay, but is not being detected in iTunes.
However, it does detect something as the button on iTunes to stream is enabled - while it does not show up if the avahi daemon is turned off.
What is the recommended Avahi configuration?
Is it necessary to create service description for avahi? (unlikely, as I see what it seems to be the service description thru mdns).
Thanks!
