I know xtreamer have been nailed in the past for customer service and everything else but tbh i only found out about that after i had bought the ultra 2.
So first thing i have to say.
I was looking for a media center to make my wifes life allot easier. I was running a windows box with xbmc using a dinovo mini. Problem was it took to long to load, i could hear the internal fans and the dinovo was not wife compatable.
I was looking for a out of the box solution. So were else should i go but boxee!
I ran the boxee box for about 2 days before i gave up trying to add media as i have a largish media collection. (it crashed more times than a c64)
Then i remembered a box by xtreamer was coming out as i was building my windows box.
Quick search found that i needed the delux version (remote, hdd, ram so on all in). Put my order into the europe website as i knew if i would have ordered from outside the euro they would nailed me on import tax.
The box arrived in good time and all i needed to do was set it up. I first had an issue with the sound as i never had to configure it with my windows box (just set it to 7.1 and it worked). Once i checked the xtreamer forum found the problem and i was off.
At first it crashed allot when going through menus while scraping. I then found out this was due to the xbmc version of openelec that was running out the box. So i stuck with it and set openelec to auto update. I have now had two updates since (im on 95.6 now) and the xtreamer is running amazing!!!!
The only time i get a crash is if i try to press shutdown button while playing a movie\tv epp. The remote is flawless and is marked out so my wife can use it like the tv remote. I can sometimes hear the fan in the side of the box on a hot day while playing 30gb mkv's and the film goes quite.
The setup i use and it works flawless
Xtreamer ultra 2 delux
MQ3 Skin
3 x Dlink DNS-323
6 x 2tb wd green (4300+ Movies and 15200+ TV epps)
Dlink gb network routers (green)
Pic of them
Please slate me if you like or ask any questions
