.srt when watching movies on ps3

hi im new to this site and to xbmc. i have downloaded xbmc because ps3 media wouldnt connect. just wondering if xbmc will display the .srt sub titles from the folder the movie is stored in during play back on the ps3? i have had a play around with all the settings but couldnt seem to get it. i also tried the sub title addon but that didnt seem to work either.
