Hi, I was hoping that someone could explain the AC3 and DTS capable AV receiver settings on xmbc 12.2.
I have a Yamaha RX-V671 AV receiver that can handle both AC3 and DTS. It also has HDMI passthrough when it is on standby which allows me to use my ATV via the receiver when the receiver is switched off - basically as if the ATV is connected direct to the TV.
The issue I have is that when I enable the AC3 and DTS settings on xbmc and if I use it using hdmi passthrough, files that have AC3 audio make a really loud static noise - the audio stream is not playing - just noise.
I can fix this by either 1. switching the receiver on or 2. turn off the ac3 setting on the receiver.
So my question is, what am I missing out on by turning off the AC3 and DTS settings on the receiver?
