Guys, I have an option to pick up an old Shuttle PC nice and cheap but want to check all is good on the hardware front.
Spec is as follows:
- Shuttle XPC SD37P2
- Celeron D 356 3.33Ghz 512k Cache 533Mhz Socket T
- 2x 512k Corsair Memory Modules
- Asus ATI Radeon X300 SE Extreme AX300SE-X/TD 128MB
- No HDD or OS
I want to be able to run XMBC for 1080p films, music etc. At the moment I dont use the 3d for the TV, although considering it. Also do not currently have any home theatre setup, but looking at a 5.1 amp / speaker setup at the moment (may even go to 7.1).
I also run a NAS over a gigabit switch at the moment which holds all the media. Currently packing 2x2TB in a mirrored RAID, shortly to get a boost with a couple more larger drives.
So, any thoughts on how this will handle needs and if I should be upgrading anything (i.e. the graphics card) to cope with the hardware decoding and HDMI feed (with audio)? The card / port is PCI Express.
Cheers
