After filling 4 HDDs in the HTPC I added a NAS with 2 more drives (8TB total) but can't figure out just what I'm supposed to do with it. Setting this thing up has been far more cunfusing than I imagined and not like a server setup as I wrongly assumed. Reading up on this networking stuff is almost Greek to me.
Through XBMC I can see the NAS as a source to add files and I can select the directory where I've moved a couple movie folders to. I can select those folders and play/stream the movie into XBMC. However, this doesn't add the folder and files to my library nor does it properly scrape them. I'm just lost now.
Plus setting up the files as I'd hoped on the NAS seems impossible. It's there to only hold movies and possibly music in the future and not do cloud storage and daily/weekly/monthly backups and any of that other stuff. I understand the purpose of all that but it's not what I need. Something tells me I went the wrong route in eternal storage here.
Any advice is appreciated.
