Deleting thumbnails to clean?

So....I have deleted my thumbnails directory trying to get it under control as it was up past 13GB. I have read that cleaning can be done this way. Anyway, once deleted, how does one go about getting the thumnail folder to fill up again with what is in my media folders?

I am using Frodo 12.2 on Windows 7.
