No sound when .avi audio frames are "split between interleaves"

Hi all:

I'm new to this forum and to XBMC, so hello and nice to "meet" you all... I just set up my first media pc a couple of days ago. I'm very impressed so far with your software, but am running into an obstacle when playing certain types of .avi files, namely, those that have the audio track split between interleaves. The XMBC video player is seemingly unable to render the sound track when playing these: the video portion is fine, but dead silence from the speakers. Also, the volume sliders in the preferences menu are greyed out when playing these files. I haven't run into any issues when playing other types of media, and am wondering if there is a fix for this situation? I have hundreds of files of this type, so remuxing them all will be an incredible PITA. I should mention that VLC, Media Player Classic, and Windows Media Player don't have any trouble playing these same files, so it looks like this is a codec issue specific to XMBC. Any ideas for a fix will be appreciated, and thanks for XMBC!
