Interpreting log files?

I'm looking for information on how to interpret the xbmc log files. However, all my searches appear to result in the same end, which is post your log file here.

Is there a guide to understanding the log file for troubleshooting? If so, where can I find it?

There are a number of errors in my log file (and a lot of log entries over a 24 hour period) so I need to figure out which errors are the ones I need to focus on. I did make an earlier post about my specific problem but have not attracted any response so far.
