Audio question

Hi there,

I'm using xbmc 12.1, running windows 8 on a Mac mini pc. This is connected to a denon avr receiver via hdmi

My question is which is the correct way to set the audio up ?

At the moment I have the sound settings in the pc as default, so 2 channels.

And xbmc set to hdmi 5.1 and wasabi for both audio settings. So Pass through and output.

This works fine and the amp displays dts or Dolby digital when required.

But then I can set the audio in the pc to 5.1 and leave the xbmc settings to 2 channel analogue, and then when I play back any films the amp displays multi-in all the time instead of dts and Dolby digital.

So I just wondered what is the correct way ?
