Hey all,
I have spent probably 3 months playing around with different settings to try and get streaming to work properly through XBMC.
I am using NHL Gamecenter Live and MLB.tv plug-ins for live streaming of HD Content.
My Setup:
Zotax Zboz HD-ID40
Nvidia ION Video Card (512MB DDR3 Dedicated)
120GB SSD HDD
4GB RAM (upgrade)
Ubuntu 12.04
XBMC 12
NAS: Synology DS211j
Network: Asus RT-N66U (WAN & LAN) & Asus RT-N16 (LAN extension - basically running as a switch)
Internet Connection: 100Mbit (routinely hit ~93Mbit on Speedtest.net)
All relevant devices are hooked up via Ethernet (not Wifi).
I have NEVER had issues with playing my video library from my NAS through XBMC (via ethernet). All videos work and play perfectly for the last several years through HDMI Video/Audio.
For streaming, I mainly use the NHL Gamecenterlive addon and plan to use the MLB.tv one. For the life of me i can't figure out why the streams seem to buffer randomly.
Symptoms:
a) Sometimes i can watch 50% of the game without buffering, other times it buffers every 10-15seconds.
b) Seems to have no pattern on when/why streaming video starts to buffer.
Things i have tried:
1) Replace Routers (used to have two Linksys WRT 320Ns)
2) Update to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
3) SET "cachemembuffersize" in XBMC to '0', '20MB' and '500MB' without much luck.
4) Enable/Disable DNS redirection services (UnoDNS/Unblock-us) - Thought these maybe the issue but even when i revert back to my ISP DNS servers, i get the same result.
5) Tried to update NVIDIA drivers in Ubuntu, although this was a while ago. Worth trying again?
6) BIOS: I haven't played with much in here.
I am probably forgetting some things i tried and retried lol but now i don't even know what to do outside of reinstalling the entire OS. I will update this thread as i go.
Any suggestions and/or similar experiences will be much appreciated!
