Hi,
I tried both openelec 3.0 RCs and xbmcbuntu frodo and had the same problem.
With an AMD A6-3500 (on ASRock mobo), when using optical spdif, it is almost like sound output goes to sleep after a couple of seconds of silence, then it takes a second to wake up (during which there is no sound).
So if I wait a couple seconds, and then push the down button on the homepage, no menu sound is generated. However if I push down 3 times in a row, The second and third pushes generate a sound. So every time there is a 2 second silence, the next sound is not generated (or the beginning is cut off).
I tried it with xbmcbuntu amd build and the openelec generic build and have the problem, but windows works just fine. For sound output I select spdif for bot output and passthrough, other settings are optical, 5.1 and dts and dolby are enabled, and the boost downmix is enabled. All else disabled.
I read about streamsilence, tried it, no difference. Then I also saw a post by DDamian (I think) that said streamsilence was pretty much for windows anyway.
By the way, xbmc on windows on the same machine works without issues through optical.
Also sound over hdmi on the same machine works without issues on both linux and windows (my receiver has no hdmi input, so hdmi is tested with stereo only going to the TV).
I know a lot of people use the A6-3500 around here, did anybody else have this issue?
Thanks
