I have an HTPC built around an AMD A4-3400 2.7GHz dual-core APU running windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 with 4GB ram.
My XBMC is 12.0 Frodo. Downloaded about a week ago.
My "video card" is the integrated AMD Radeon HD 6410D graphics with driver 9.12.0.0
My sound device is Realtek HD audio with driver rev. 6.0.1.6433
In the files I've tried I get no audio and video plays, but it often is choppy or looks more grainy and low-def than simply playing in VLC.
I believe there is an issue with the realtek audio driver for my AMD APU (and the Gigabyte mobo, for that matter). I found some things that tell you to uninstall the realtek driver and use a stock AMD audio driver, but I need the realtek driver to enable sending audio out through the HDMI-out I use for video as well. Or do I?
I tried uninstalling the Realtek driver but when I restarted I could no longer get audio over my HDMI. Video was still fine but it didn't recognize the HDMI line as a possible audio output anywhere,.
I know this is a pretty specific problem but does anyone else have any experience with using an AMD APU and having these issues? With the price/performance ratio and popularity of these processors, I figure someone might be able to help.
Debug Log
Besides the fact that I can't get anything to play, I love XBMC!!! It looks beautiful. I can't believe I have had my HTPC for almost a year with just using VLC to play files from the normal file explorer in windows...
Thanks!
