DTS-HD

Hello

First of all let me preface that while I am a computer professional, I care little nor know little about sounds. In other words I apologize for sounding like a Newbe because where it comes to sounds, I truly am.

I am running Frodo (XBMC 12) and I am directly Connected to my Vizio TV with HDMI cable.

Recently I ripped Blue ray, but the sound is not playing. After mocking with it for a bit (again I am sound stupid, comes with having a bad hearing), I track this down to an issue with DTS-HD not playing. After going to my sound settings I am seeing "AMD HDMI Output", when I looked at the Supported Format I am only seeing Dolby Digital, That I am assuming is the issue.

In my sound setting under XBMC I tried all kinds of things, such as specifying that my device can't do DTS, etc... I can get Spanish Channel working which isn't using DTS but rather AAC (I believe it was called). Whenever I switch the Audio Streaming to DTS I hear couple of clicks and that's it.

As a point of reference the rip Blue-Ray is in MKV format, and my Windows Media Player can play it just fine with sounds. The only issue I am having is with XBMC.

So here are my questions
1) Can I downgrade the sound and force to play something other than DTS? As I stated above the sound quality means little to nothing to me.
2) Can I rip the Blue Ray with lesser sound? I am using MakeMKV and don't see that option.
3) Is the reason that I am not seeing other Supported Formats is due to me being directly connected to TV? if so is there any trick to get more? I honestly rather not buy AVR, it would be a waste in my situation.
4) How come Media Player/Blue Ray player have no issues but XBMC does?

Sorry if any of the above are stupid questions, but last time I cared about sound was with SoundBlaster 16 ( yeah the ISA version)
Thank you kindly!

PS. I forgot to mention I have EAH6450 Asus Video card, AMD CPU, and build in Realtek sound card. I updated all those drivers, installed Realtec HD Codec.
