PVR for streams

I haven't been able to find a way , and it would appear that PVR section are for those whom have
some sort of tv tuner setup on their system but.
i am curious to know, if there is any way to record a live stream that is coming through xbmc via an add-on
example: nhl game center , i can log in/ view a game
i'd like to be able to ' record' or PVR it in case, i'd like to watch it a bit later, but not the next day
this is just one example

is it possible, or can this be done ?
