Ok, I've searched and searched on this one, but I'm not getting anywhere.
There has been a reasonable amount of discussion about the new poster artwork handler in Frodo.
I have about 1800 movie titles the better majority of which are in the root movies folder in the following general format.
d:\<movies root>\<moviename>.<ext> #Movie file in various formats MKV, avi, mp4, etc...
d:\<movies root>\<moviename>.nfo #created using Mediacompanion
d:\<movies root>\<moviename>.tbn #custom edited and saved from photoshop in jpg format
d:\<movies root>\<moviename>-fanart.jpg #usually imported from themoviedb.org through Mediacompanion
d:\<movies root>\<moviename>-trailer.<ext>
Various sub-folders represent box sets for example
d:\<movies root>\Batman\fanart.jpg #displays fanart for the box set
d:\<movies root>\Batman\folder.jpg #masks the boxart folder with appropriate artwork
d:\<movies root>\Batman\Dark Knight.<ext> #Movie file in various formats MKV, avi, mp4, etc...
d:\<movies root>\Batman\Dark Knight.nfo #created using Mediacompanion
d:\<movies root>\Batman\Dark Knight.tbn #custom edited and saved from photoshop in jpg format
d:\<movies root>\Batman\Dark Knight-fanart.jpg #usually imported from themoviedb.org through Mediacompanion
d:\<movies root>\Batman\Dark Knight-trailer.<ext>
I've tried not to rely on any scrapers for anything other than actor thumbs, and I choose each individual poster, banner, fanart, and folder icon. It's laborious to say the least.
In every previous version of XBMC going all the way back to early versions on the original XBOX console if you browsed the file system XBMC would extract the TBN data and copy it in the hashed format to the userdata\thumbnails (or previous equivalent) folder even without a database scan. However if I take a fresh install of windows (or whatever os) and XBMC 12 (frodo) and perform a simple file browse none (not one) of the tbn, folder.jpg, or fanart appear in the gui, or are even copied to the thumbnails repository.
Database scans that read the nfo files appear to run fine, and populate the database, but again no tbn, folder.jpg or fanart artwork is displayed or pulled to the thumbnail folder.
I've conducted tests by making small scale changes to the artwork naming conventions according to the Frodo FAQ:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBM...r_Frodo.3F
but the problem persists. I've read about others who have a similar structure to mine that claim that it works fine (but they are having trouble with video_ts.tbn issues, which I don't use at all.) I've had the same problem on an Frodo AppleTV, Frodo Linux install, and Frodo Windows install and it behaves the same in each instance.
Whatever I'm missing is probably a blatant and simple, so please forgive my oversight.
Thanks in advance.
