Hello
I have the OpenElec version of XBMC installed, and added the MPEG2 license, and can play video files. I noticed that XBMC is recognizing that I have an HDHomeRun running on my LAN. I was able to add it to where I could attempt to access it (it was yesterday, and I can't remember exactly what I did). The HDHR came up with the two tuners listed. I chose the one which has an antenna connected, however it didn't list any channels to play.
I did some reading, and found that apparently you need to create some .strm files that have scripts to tune the HDHR to different channels. I also found two applications that would create these strm files, one for Windows and one for Linux. I tried the Windows version first. At first it wouldn't run because I didn't have the newest .net installed. Upgraded, and ran the program, but it didn't seem to work. I tried creating a manual channel on the program, but it didn't save any strm file.
So I switched to the linux program, which you were supposed to install via apt-get. Tried to install it on the RPi, but got an error saying that there was no apt-get on the OpenElec system. I was thinking doing the apt-get on another card I have Wheezy on, and then transferring the script over to the OpenElec, but I don't really know where to put the file. Plus, I'm assuming it goes on one of the readonly file systems I know how to turn that off, but I assume it will just turn back on when I reboot... is there a way to keep it from booting up with everything read only?
Anyway, the question is, what is the easiest way of getting the HDHomeRun set up in the OpenElec version of XBMC? Can I just manually create these .strm files? If so what are they named, and where do you put them, and can someone post an example of one for an OTA local channel
Also, what add on things are necessary? I've enabled a couple add-ons that looked like they might be necessary, but wasn't sure. I've seen linux HDHR drivers, but from what I've read, the XBMC is supposed to have it's own drivers for it. Anyway, it seems like I might only need the .strm files, but I can't find a way to generate them.
Thanks.
