First off I've read all the hardware sticky posts and several of eskro's help guides. I've also read some other mac min help threads. I have my own set of questions which mostly are clarifications of things that I've read.
I am currently running:
Windows 7 on custom box with big on-board HD
XBMC for playing DVD's, ripped movies and mp3s
Chrome => Netflix
uTorrent
Android XBMC remote app
I guess this puts me in "Group 5". I would like to improve this experience (better Netflix <=> XBMC integration) and migrate to a mac mini.
This response helped steer me in the right direction (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...id1264744)
I agree with calev. Get a MCE remote, install Windows 8, XBMC and the Netflix app. Launch the Netflix app for from inside XBMC with Advanced Launcher. When you quit Netflix, XBMC will appear again. You will also be able to play full Blu-rays with HD audio if you wanted. Something that OSX and the AppleTV2 cannot do.
So:
1. Can MacOSX not stream 1080p Netflix? (I saw eskro's group listing saying "windows only" on streaming 1080p Netflix)
2. USB 2.0 on a mac mini cannot keep up with a USB HD for playing HD movies, correct?
3. Netflix app is only for Windows 8?
4. Is the "best" macMini the one prior to the current one (because it is the fastest but still has a DVD drive)?
5. Can macMini even run Windows 8?
6. Does anyone anticipate the XBMC netflix plugin coming back from the dead?
