Bluray stutters, but no dropped frames?

I have installed XBMC on my laptop to test it out before building out a system to run it. While testing DVDs playback seems perfect. When I playback bluray iso's the video seems like it stutters, but when I hit "o" I see that there are no dropped frames, and the fps is at a solid 24fps (I think that is the fps for the movie). These are normal full disc bluray iso's. Could this be an issue with my laptop monitor that I am seeing since XBMC shows no drops?
