Hi,
[Eden with HD audio bit stream patch]
I recently replaced my Sony 26" LCD at 1280x720 with a Samsung 32" LED one at 1920x1080 and for some bizarre reason my MKV files (my entire library is comprised of MKV files) now require audio offsets to maintain lip sync.
Incidentally my TV is connected over HDMI via my receiver. Quite why replacing the TV would cause this to happen is a puzzle in its self....
An issue that occurred at the same time was that I needed to enable 'adjust screen refresh to match video' because I was getting jerkiness/the odd dropped frame and this was the only thing to resolve it.
The TV does not output any audio, this is handled by the receiver as it was on my old TV.
I've noted that 24p (23,976 FPS) content typically ripped from a blu ray requires and offset of -0.275 and 25 FPS content typically that ripped from a DVD requires and audio offset of -0.125.
I've been looking around and seen similar posts regarding lip sync issues, but just find it odd how I had none, and now it affects all my MKV's from the moment I start watching them.
I concede that this might not be a problem entirely related to XBMC, playing the same content in MP-HC (configured to bit stream using FFDShow) also suffers from sync issues where there were previously none. This again I have to rectify by specifying an audio delay in the FFDShow audio decoder.
I don't have any codecs installed, only FFDShow and Haali.
Would anyone be able to speculate on why this might be happening?
Regarding a work around, I can't use the audio offset as 'default for all movies' as it will throw my 25FPS and AVC PAL stuff out of sync, so need a more selective approach that will allow me to set different defaults for content type and or by show/season.
I've seen some mention of being able to configure the advancesettings xml to do this but no specific examples which I would be grateful for if anyone can help? I have examined the file but can't figure out the syntax to do what I want to do (assuming it is possible).
Are there any examples of audio offsetting by show name and series I could look at as well as by content type/frame rate?
Any help regarding either the root cause or the work around REALLY appreciated.
Thanks very much.
