Hello fellas. This is my first post and because I couldn't find a "present yourself section" I guess this one will have to do.
I've been trying XBMC for a couple of days, and although I think it's nice, I also think it really needs help - translation is nearly not-existant (or at least I didn't find out how to have XBMC and all it's addons in PT-PT or PT-BR), many of the addons are not exactly what people would expect, some of them are even bugged, and I could really think of some new addons that people could use.
Anyway, I have a few questions I would like to have answered please:
1 - When I connect HDMI cable to my lapopt and TV nothing happens. How do I setup XBMC correctly?
I am using XBMC and XBMCbuntu. Currently, I use XBMCbuntu, go to startmenu -> Preferences -> Monitor settings. Then I disable the computer monitor and enable the TV monitor. This fixes the image but not the sound. After this I enter XBMC (inside XBMCbuntu) play a videi, click option and set the "output to all speakers" flag to true.
This is quite cumbersome, is there a better way to do this?
2 - Is there a way to have a command line program running behind XBMC while I am watching a movie or something?
I would really like to have rTorrent or even Transmission running in my laptop while I am watching a video. Currently I launch XBMC and then I press CTRL+ALT+F1. Then I start a command line program and then I type "sudo service lightdm start" to get back to XBMC. This terrible for a set of reasons I think most of you easily understand. Is there a way to run a program in the background using XBMC and not XBMCbuntu?
3 - Are there any decent browsers I can use inside XBMC?
Personally I think it's a really bummer to have to exit XBMC just because I need to make a quick visit to a website and re-launch it again. I know there is a "text-web-browser", that it is really bad. Are there any other solutions?
4 - Is there any program that allows me to automatically download subtitles for the movies I am watching? I search the addons but found nothing.
5 - Why isn't the TwitchTV addon working when I place my username? (why isn't it even asking for my password?!)
6 - Is there any list of tweaks or addons or some guide that you recommend me to read (as a beginner)?
7 - Is there any addon that allows me to use my Android cellphone as a remote?
8 - In case I wish to volunteer my experience in programming and translation, where should I start?
Thanks for reading the huge wall of text, Fl4m3.
List of addons I am looking for:
1 - Automatic subtitle finder/suggester.
2 - Using Android cellphone as remote control.
3 - IMDB addon with movie information and suggestions.
