Samba share accessible via "Files" but not "Library"

I just set up MySQL-syncing of my library, since I want to be able to sync watched status (which is yet not supported via UPnP). XBMC and all the files are hosted on a Xubuntu 12.04 HTPC/server and accessed by that very same machine and my Windows 8 desktop. I've configured several samba shares that are accessible without problem on both the Xubuntu machine and the Windows machine, when viewed via Thunar (Xubuntus file explorer) and Windows' File Explorer. Also, the XBMC installed on my Windows machine works exactly as it should, both regarding the MySQL setup and playing videos. So far so good...

But one thing that's not working is using the XBMC Library (not Files) when the sources has been added as Samba shares on the machine that hosts the files.

The errors I'm getting regarding this are these, and they are the exact same for every movie in the library:

Code:
00:06:29 T:140688767313664   ERROR: SMBDirectory->GetDirectory: Unable to open directory : 'smb://xbmc-linux/Movies/300'
                                            unix_err:'d' error : 'Permission denied'

Code:
00:06:29 T:140688767313664   ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting smb://xbmc-linux/Movies/300/

Code:
00:06:55 T:140688272377600   ERROR: InputStream: Error opening, smb://xbmc-linux/Movies/300/300.mkv

Remember, I can browse and play all videos via the Samba share on the Linux XBMC machine (which hosts the files) as long as I don't try to open them via the Library. smbclient, Thunar and XBMC "Files" works great and no permission errors.

I think I've tried just everything and I've googled for days now, without any solution. Any help at all is much appreciated.
