Turn off scan AND still display files

I'm extremely new to XBMC but I didn't see anything to solve my problem.

My problem is so simple. I do NOT want to scan my files but simply display the file names. Every time I turn on scan the wrong file names are displayed with the wrong information and I don't want to spend time fixing unwanted data in the first place as I know what the videos are.

I've turned off scanning but then no files show up at all. How can I just simply display my files with out scanning some external database?
