create configuration form

hi, hope i post this in the right place
i am using xbmcbuntu
would like to create a configuration form that will modify flexget config file.
for example, the form will allow user to configure geners, imdb scores, etc.
basically it's modifying a text file.
i would like the user to access the form from xbmc main menu, not from the configuration menu.
where do i start?
